Haven't played a straight blade since college...and neither do a lot of tour players today. Nothing better than a crisp blade shot, but I'm not good enough to find that sweet spot all the time. Considered a mixed set, but The forged players irons are :fire: and get better every year...the thin top line, and the forged feel is great, all the workability you need. Same as my AP2s I've played for the last decade, just wanted something new/different.

Far cry from a bulky game-improvement "cavity back" club you seem to be thinking of. Nearly 70% of the PGA Tour players have some sort of cavity these days...

Lol I play Ping S57s which is a forged club too and I wouldn't have anything else. Mainly just giving you a hard time on not going with blades. Too hard to hit when you don't get to play every day, but man there's nothin prettier than a shiny set of muscle backs.

Mainly I just have to have a thin top line, minimal offset. Can't look down at a game improvement club and have confidence. Definitely a mental thing.

Jordy and Smiley in the final pairing tomorrow? I like my dude's chances. :100points:

You wouldn't want to go from Blades to the JPX line, Catlanta. -- pretty thick looking top line from address. MP line ftw.

...and the sooner you admit you have no business playing blades, the better off your game will be.

Day/DJ pairing :fire::fire::fire::fire:

Spieith + 135 to win at the moment.
Day +390
Hideki +600
DJ/Smylie +900
Rory +1500
Langer +2000

I haven't been out to look in person but had JPX before. Regardless, Mizuno is the way to go.

Probably give mine to my wife's cousin. I learned on blades and I think you appreciate upgrading after learning on some of the toughest clubs to hit.

<------- new sticks today, finally. Went w/ the new Mizuno MP25, they are DOPE. AS. F. They put me in a Project X 6.0 Stiff+ -- seems I've been playing the wrong shaft for quite awhile.#MovingDay [smoke]:golf:[/QUOTE]

Bought these bad-boys about 2 years ago. Took about 2-3 rounds to feel them out, but love them. Good middle ground between a blade and cavity.

I also have a set of these. Finishing up a custom fitting to figure out which shaft I need. Great feel, but the x100s are a bit too stiff for me.

My approach to golf changed around 2002. I just simply go out with the boys, shoot what I shoot and could care less about my score. It's great really.

That being said, my Mizunos wedges I have are my favorite clubs by far.

Now basketball, that's a different story. It's win-win-win no matter what.

I have hit the new AP2s, and they are sweet. Hit them best with the KBS tour c taper, which wasn't the shaft for me when I demoed 2 or 3 different mizunos. I don't know enough about clubs/swingweights/etc. to know why that is.

The Callaway Apexes are also really nice. And long.

Still hitting my MP57s at the moment. Have some 32s being sent off to be refinished. Have some 64s in the garage. Might get some of those 25s too. That's their best club out right now, IMO.

LLama Tweeted yesterday that he'd rather have Ferguson than Bolden and I tend to agree with him. A traditional wing with a great shooting touch plugs more holes than a fifth 6'10" forward/center.

To me, Bolden looks like he has a Duke face. It just looks kind of punchable. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is, but I am sure of it.

I'll deny ever posting this if he comes to UK.
I said the exact same thing about having a Duke face. Looks like a poo-say.

Look for NJT to have something to say about Smylie Kaufman, since they reside in the same little suburb.

I've picked him in most majors where he is in contention, and i'll pull for DJ to finally break through again. With Spieth and Rory yesterday, and Langer, the Kaufman kid, and Jason Day taking the headlines, maybe Johnson can sneak through and post a low round under the radar and get to the clubhouse to hold on. Golf needs more Paulina.

The throwback Masters stories on the golf channel are the best part of the week.

RE blades: I carry a 40 year old Powerbilt 2 iron in my bag. Scotch blade that was my grandfathers. He took it from a lost and found pile at Farnsley, couldnt hit it (because nobody can) so he left it in my golf bag when i was a kid. I've hit it at the range a few times but dont think i've ever hit it on a course. Looks more like a one of those nail files on your toe-nail clippers, than it does a gold club. Yet it sits in my bag. And it will be the only blade I ever carry.

Ordered some books yesterday to cope with unemployment. Havent really read anything for leisure in the last decade. Excited about some non academic or research related reads:
Art of War
The Presidents War
Mr. Lincolns Army

^starting with those. Probably buy one of those ENO hammocks as well.

Agreed. Evidently Cal and his school have some sort of beef so unfortunately I don't think we've got a chance.

I think Cal is hell bent on just adding a post and calling it a day. And I think if Bolden does go for Duke, Jarrett Allen and Kentucky suddenly get really tight again, really fast.

^ Yep. That's been the rumor for over a week but only a rumor until now. I doubt it would be official if Bolden wasn't in the bag. Especially with Capel meeting with them today, I bet they closed the deal. Next man up.

Can't wait to see all the heat Coach K gets for convincing this kid to come in early, then recruiting over him and giving him the boot when he's not instantly ready to start.

If we add another player, we're gonna have to do the same thing. Mulder. Wynyard. Lee. Someone would have to hit the waiver wire if Briscoe comes back as expected.

What a *****, Thornton. They'll lose Jones, Allen, and Jackson this year...and not like he wouldn't have had a nice role still. K has a history of playing experienced marginal players - see the last Thornton.

Day/Johnson pairing making a mess of favorable conditions today. "Mess" may be harsh....perhaps squandering opportunity is more appropriate.

DL3, good on him.

A few big horses missed their chance to capitalize today. Spiethbot has arrived. This one is over.
