Doss isn't even an area. I have no idea what it is or what it means. I grew up 2 miles from there and only know 2 people that even went there. It's really an anomaly.

Derek Anderson though. That's enough. Also he was from deeeeeep West end. Far from Doss.

What is the consensus on Humphries next year?

My take is that he is tall, coordinated (not athletic but coordinated), and fairly good for his age. He and Lee are sort of yin and yang in that one is a burly 7 foot Australian plodder who is a little more advanced offensively that you would expect but is just a bit player while the other is a spindly 6'9 Humpty-lookalike who has electric athleticism and is sort of a bad basketball player.

Bolden would be very nice, but if we don't get him then hopefully Bam can be a turbo version of freshman Terrence Jones and one of Humphries or Lee can have a Harrellson-esque juvenation.

I think Humphries is sneaky. He has this spring and summer to shed the baby fat and get stronger. If he does that, he's the old white guy you see in rec league that has a soft touch, is a good passer, and surprisingly strong.

Sure, Dean Smith (The Maestro!!!!) set it all up, but the whole 18-year scheme shows why they have always wanted to hire their coaches from within the "family".

In light of what we know now, Guthridge stepping in makes total sense. And the rest of them had to be Carolina Men because they already knew where the skeletons were kept.

I had a golf teammate at Evansville in '97 from Doss (Jason Hale) , other than that & DA, I'm not sure I'd know it was a HS, and that's with me driving past it a few times per week, TS. Would just assume it was a middle/elementary school otherwise I'm pretty sure.

I'll say this for Humphries, he really gave us more than I expected this year. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he shows up next year and fights for major minutes.

Nice mitts (#1 underrated aspect of a good big) and good touch. Held his own on the block and the kid was a year younger than most freshman.

Can he show some back to the basket skills? That's the question.

If Humphries was at Gonzaga, for example, he would blossom as a Soph/Jr into a REAL legitimate player.

Who knows what will happen here, as he has to compete against 10 big black men, and Cal being a reverse racist...but, he's just a kid. Isn't he still 18? He's gonna be good, if not here, somewhere else...

Just had to order a box of checks for this first time in about 5 years. Damn, it costs more to ship them than it does for the actual checks. If I could get my housekeeper moved over to some other form of payment, I wouldn't even need them except for very, very rare instances.

Speaking of checks, I actually got behind a woman in Lowe's the other day who was writing a check at the register. Seriously, who does this. At the very least, swipe your debit card.

LOL, we just ran out of checks. We use checks like 5-10x per year -- various contracting work, her hairdresser, dogsitting, and I use them to transfer money to different banks through my App when I don't want to wait 3 days for the "online transfer" to go through. That's about it.

When I see someone writing a check a a grocery or whatever :uzi::uzi::uzi:

Indeed.

Given his age, he has much more potential that I would have expected. I thought he'd be a throwaway recruit to give us enough bodies in practice, but I think he has legit potential to be a contributor and part-time starter going forward. He's a pleasant surprise.

My other question of the returners is my man Chuck Matthews. At the beginning of the year he looked like Gerald Fitch version 2.0. At the end of the year he looked like, well, Adam Williams.

If Briscoe returns, I don't see an easy spot for Matthews to fit into but Calipari loves 6'6 defensive wings.

If Matthews doesn't stare in the mirror this offseason and determine that Hawkins and Mulder won't get a single minute this upcoming year, then he is undeserving of any poetic accolades of one IsRitchieGonnaStart.

Does Ritchie still post? Its been a while.

Matthews=Gerald Fitch? Huh? Not even the same skin tone.

*I actually like the Geraldine auto text.

Hank came back too fast. Take it slow, bub

Matthews is as close to Fitch as he is Kyle Wiltjer. Maybe he meant Erik Daniels...which still isn't close,

The Gerald Fitch who shot 40% from 3 his freshman year hitting 29 = Charles Matthews 1 for 4 for the season?

Oh ok.

At the beginning of the year, Matthews was dynamite on the offensive glass as a guard and showed signs of being good defensively.

That's the Fitch comparison.

At the end of the year? Nope. Hence the distinction. Learn learning.

I mean Frank Haith got an extension and Pitt hired Kevin Stallings because Jamie Dixon went to TCU so nothing makes sense anymore

Is spelling Wynyard's name incorrectly a running joke that's just completely gone over my head or is everyone doing it unintentionally today? TIA

It's appropriate forever.

Someone nearly burned down my apartment building tonight.

Firefighter bro dapped me up for putting the fire out in the woman's apartment before they got there, tho. Makes up for the soot in my nostrils :chairshot:

Not a NBA honk but pretty cool story to see Sager continuing to work.

Wall v. Curry will keep me up for a little while as well

Assuming the Norse! threw their ace, not necessarily a ringing endorsement for our bats.

But, agreed..its mid week college baseball.

Yep. Chick downstairs said a candle "fell over" while she was outside [eyeroll]

Had to wrangle the cat and the lass freaking the eff out, sent them down the back and grabbed a pot of water and put it out. No idea how it didn't spread beyond just her coffee table. There was enough smoke to turn the hallway completely black and coat my shirt, pants, and face in soot. Feel like I smoked a pack of newports

At least 10 fire vehicles. Jesus.

I had a little heated moment at that post office today.

Walk in to drop a return. While waiting I notice the 3 people in front of me are forced to buy a roll of tape each because they need a few strips of packing tape for their package. Which perturbed me but all I have is label to attach certainly he's not going to make me buy a roll of tape to attach a label. Yep. First thing he proudly announced is I need tape and must buy a roll. Grabs a roll, scans it, rips of the packing... when I'm like "you're honestly going to make us buy an entire roll of packing tape to attach a label? " He was clearly pissed I bring this up and starts on a rant when I cut him off 5 words in and say, "just put the tape on I don't need your explanation."

So he tapes the hell out of the label and it's clearly awkward but the joy this *** was getting out of selling people tape set me off. So he proudly hands me the roll after I paid. I sat it back down and said, "I'll just leave this right here on the counter so everyone else isn't forced to buy a roll of tape." Walked out. Boom.

******* inefficient government ********. Get real. Tape. At a post office. Tape.

Must say, the convenience of having the UPS store in my neighborhood is quite nice. Have returned many a package, never paid the tape. Not sure I've even had to wait in line.

Glad to hear the Montclair's are struggling.
