I didn't turn five years old until after the 1985-86 season. I'm not going to lie on here and pretend to have vivid memories of that team. I don't remember Kenny Walker playing at UK at all. I barely remember Rex Chapman. The Pitino Era was my formative era of Kentucky basketball. My favorite team is the 1996 team. My favorite player is Mashburn. Of all the Cal players, Wall is my favorite. Wall and Mashburn each represent the renewal of this program in their respective eras. These are my opinions. They are not right or wrong, they are subjective. If you're too stupid to grasp the concept of subjectivity then please feel free to refrain from comment on the matter.

Agreed. And let's take this time to remind everyone to respect each others' opinions in GYERO. No need for cross words just because you disagree with someone.

1. Cotton Nash
2. Thad Jaracz
3. Lou Tsioropoulos

You simple Simons need to go back and watch more grainy black and white footage of the true greats.

I think Ralph Beard is much bigger from a historical perspective. Cotton Nash is more in line with a Tyler Ulis...AA great (3 times for that matter), but ultimately didn't do much on the grand stage.

My freshman year at UK was 1999. I, like 95% of the rest of the country, did not give a flying flip about college bball before that and was a college football fan mainly. I was from out of state. My freshman year I thought all my peers were nuts. My sophomore year I was all in, and we lost to USC in the sweet sixteen. My 4th year we lost to Marquette and Dwayne Wade. My final year we lost to UAB. Although I knew some of the players and those were my "formative" years as a UK fan, all those teams and players aren't really that fondly remembered by me. The Calipari era has been like Xmas, and I had no clue things could be so amazing. Its basically the equivalent to being a 12 year old with the mid 90's teams for you guys the way you guys talk about it. Maybe there was more optimism or something when Pitino was coach, but this last 7 year run has been nothing short of incredible, and I'm pretty sure this stretch will be remembered as my favorite time ever as a UK fan. And with the way things are shaping up, next year should be another all-time fave UK team. Enjoy the ride everyone. [cheers]

Your favorite player is Erik Daniels.

Don't be mean. It's my opinion. And that back room when it's sunny outside and dimly lit inside...nice steak, loud voices, people drinking, and lima beans and a good baked potato. That's good eats and good times.

[cheers]
I apologize, Jeremy. Enjoy your ambiance and mediocre steak.

Who is on everyone's fantasy team and how are they doing this year?

Team "Benny Squint", currently 118-53, steamrolled, never losing the top spot.

A. Bradley, R Hood, K Middleton, A Gordon, Nowitzki, Will Barton, Marqueef Morris, D Collison, Ish Smith, Batum, Myles Turner, Thad Young..

-Lose AD during the first round bye, and Vucevic's ****** is still full of sand.

-Snagged the African Biyombo for rebounds and blocks, but as it stands....down 3-6. [eyeroll]

What is the purpose of recalling an email?

I mean, other than to have your server send an additional email message to your original emails recipients alerting them that you ineffectively tried to recall an email, thereby making you look like a fool?

Nice try. But too late, *******.

Speaking of Old Row, so college girls are just wearing thongs to the beach now? I have that correct? [thumb2]

My prediction that American society accepts topless girls in public sooner rather than later is looking pretty good, folks. I mean, I might move that up to 2020 or so.

- Tsioropoulos- the original Greek Freak. Led the Katzenjammer Kids if I remember correctly. I'm serious.

- I mean, college. F you, ShootBag and the other fella.

- Erik Daniels is as good of favorite player choice as any for the 00s. Loved what his game became.

- Speaking of which...if you ever start bellyaching over the 10s, think of the damn 00s. What a miserable decade for UKBB.

This is just a reminder to BOAT- no comments about other posters' toddlers. TIA.

UK 2000-2003 football was pretty dope. 15 wins (two 2 win seasons back-to-back). Probation. LSU Hail Mary.

2002 win at UofL was the only football highlight of my college years.

In 1998, this guy spent New Year's in Tampa watching the football Cats and celebrated an unexpected national title in bball a few months later. I mean - that may be as good as it gets for a UK fan attending UK at the time.
Plus the economy was humming, ISIS was a complete non-factor, and Drake was still in a wheelchair.

Heady times to be sure.

My fondest football memory while at UK was hanging on the goal post after we lost to LSU, wildly cheering and yelling. The look on mine and everyone else face when the referee told us we lost and to get off the damn goalposts must have been something else.

I was looking up some numbers regarding the way the tournament has not opened up for us.

These stats are based since Calipari has been at Kentucky:

Kentucky's 2nd Round Opponent Seed: 5.8
Kansas's 2nd Round Opponent Seed: 8.8
Duke's 2nd Round Opponent Seed: 8.6 (jumps to 9.4 if they weren't knocked out earlier)

Kentucky's S16 Opponent Seed: 3.6
Kansas's S16 Opponent Seed: 6.4 (jumps to 7.2 if they weren't knocked out earlier)
Duke's S16 Opponent Seed: 3.75

Kentucky's E8 Opponent Seed: 2.4
Kansas's E8 Opponent Seed: 6
Duke's E8 Opponent Seed: 2.5

Obviously, some of this is based on the fact we've been an 8 and 4 (twice) seed while Kansas has never been below a 3 seed. But the bracket has historically opened up for Kansas, and Duke has seemed to get teams that are usually overseeded based on their talent/skill.

Probably couldnt even get it down to just one all time favorite UK player. My grandfather, even after seeing some all-time greats in the Rupp tenure, remains loyal to Jeff Brassow- which i've always found interesting.

Clean cut white kid, i assume is the reason why.

Scrappy. Good-shooter. Played a role in the UK renaissance.

One thing that media folk (and dumbass rival fans) seem to gloss over when cawing about UK/Cal "only" winning one title since he was hired despite having 2,081 draft picks: Overall, Kentucky has been the youngest team in the country in that time frame and they still have a title, they still have 4 Final Fours and oh yeah they've still won more games than anyone else.

Always assumed Brassow was a coach's son, too.

I know the GYERO premise is that when you have a take, even if that take sucks and is proven wrong time and time again, we in turn get personal, never admit defeat and take our beliefs to the grave (or spin it a few weeks later)... but we've got nothing on some of these politico's. Reading the Brussels' thread, holy ****. I hardly ever venture outside of GYERO for good reason.

My biggest worry for next season is outside shooting but my second biggest worry is that D'Aaron fox cuts his hair. That's some hella cool lettuce. I remember how bummed I was when Brandon knight went clean cut once he got on campus. Hope fox keeps it going. *hits "post reply" and throws iPhone in a river*
