Woah. Come back from the abyss. There is no situation where UNC winning is better than UNC losing. It has been a horrendous day. We are all wiped out, devastated, really, but pull yourself up by your bootstraps and cheer on the Friars.
We looked like pre-Willis Cats tonight. No spacing, contested shots, absurd defense from the bigs and nothing but the clogged toilet offense. Zero flow.

That's because Willis was relegated to early season minutes post injury. He was the 8th dude off the bench today. Baffling.
Just all I can think is that it's not a fitting end to Ulis' career. Damn.
Never liked the matchup. I am a defender of Cal's coaching chops...but, he's not beyond criticism and tonight there was too much Skal, too much Poythress and Lee combo, and not enough Willis. Not about hitting shots, it's about spacing. Guards had no where to go, IU switched about everything because they could.

Bingo on Willis. Cal forgot what turned the season around.
Cal forgets a lot of stuff. But we simply could not buy an outside shot. And the refs called six gd charges, killing our drives. Truly an unreal shitshow. IU didn't even play well.
Really excited about making dreams come true for 4-6 more players next year with zero hardware though! Great job Cal!

Cal didn't forget. Willis was favoring his ankle and couldn't sprint or cut. The way they were penetrating and kicking out put him in a bad spot and left his man wide open at least twice.
We couldn't stay in front of Ferrell or Williams, and the refs cut our penetration with BS offensive fouls.
Not blaming the refs because it was more than that, but our fouls cost us from being aggressive on the attack.

We'll win the damned thing next season. Enough left over parts from this year and elite freshman talent. That's the combination we've had with our best teams. We won it all once and went 38-1 the next year we had that kind of roster.
Meh. Kinda what I expected really. A small part of me was holding on to the dream that our backcourt would somehow take over and carry this team to the title...but alas, no.

Our super teams were 2010 2012 and 2015. 4-5 1st Rounders on each team. And those teams were pretty dominant. #1 for most, if not all, the season. Next year will be the same.
In hindsight I guess I would have preferred to have been playing Yale today.

Strangely infuriating in that Cal should have 2-3 titles at UK.

I wish I could like this 1 dozen times. That, and the fact that all of the commentators wet themselves over our not playing IU every year. F that. We play the elite of the elite, every year. It's not our fault IU hasn't done DICK in 30 years. Who GAF that they're geographically proximate? Should we play Ohio U every year? WVU? UVA? The Illini?
I've been livid ever since about 6:20 pm Sunday (or whenever) they announced we're paired with IU. The Selection Committee can choke on a dick, individually and severally, They wouldn't probably know the difference between a basketball and a purple helmet.
In the big picture, a rock-bottom year for us = a banner year for IU. Nuff said.

Yep. Hate it, but it's true. We need to either have a team so talented that it can overcome Cal's micromanagement, or we need to have the bracket fall apart in front of us. The former happened in 2012. The latter has never happened.
