What do officials think when they go to the monitor to see if the shot was off in time and see that two hand push off?

Lol whoops missed that one haha oh well baskets good lets GTFO

Happens all the time on out of bounds calls like the SECT where Davis mauled Ulis and aTm got the ball. Instant redass.

If this happens, it's gotta be the biggest upset in tournament history. I don't remember the other 2s that lost being borderline 1 seeds.

Norfolk over Missouri was probably a bigger upset. Not because Missouri was great, but because MTSU is a much better team than that Norfolk squad.

MSU-MTSU is the biggest upset I can remember, the difference between Arizona and Santa Clara or Mizzou and norfolk was Arizona (lute specifically) was famous for their suckage in the tourney so no one was surprised and Mizzou had a good year but they have no pedigree. MSU checks all the boxes of what the experts thought was a national champ.

After that game in 2012 I watched a UK fan lay an IU fan out cold walking back to stats. The IU fan was yelling about cheating, inbreds and the UK fans wife.

The UL-UK rivalry is best in college basketball but ultimately, in most cases, you would restrain yourself from cold cocking your neighbor/cousin. This is next level vitriol imo. Touch em.

Pretty clear a&m fans give none about basketball. Sad.

The 2/15 upsets, ranked

1. Middle Tennessee over Michigan State 2016
2. Richmond over Syracuse 1991
3. Lehigh over Duke 2012
4. Hampton over Iowa State 2001
5. Santa Clara over Arizona 1993
6. Norfolk State over Missouri 2012
7. Florida Gulf Coast over Georgetown 2015
8. Coppin State over South Carolina 1997

Georgetown is probably the worst 2 seed to get beat, but I put them over South Carolina because Coppin State blew those guys out.

[eyeroll]

There is more to upsets than Vegas spreads...I like your numbers, but you're too much sometimes. Don't compare freaking Missouri's overrated *** to Sparty, legit title favorite, losing to a 15.

It depends on how you define "upset" because we are clearly using two different definitions.

In reference to pre-tournament expectations for an individual team then yes, MSU losing today was a bigger upset than Missouri's.

If upset is used in terms of likelihood of occurring, then Norfolk's win is a bigger upset than MTSU's by the shear virtue of Norfolk's inferiority to MTSU.

Umm, the definition of upset I'm using is UPSET.

Pretty simple to anyone who watches college basketball. As BKH noted, touching Missouri isn't even in the conversation. You're trying too hard to sound cute, per usual, and like most other analytics guys. You have your place and I appreciate that angle -- but you (and those like you) often times come across looking like a babbling idiot who's just trying to sound smart while looking foolish.

Thanks, and I don't care to hear any further arguments about it.

ESPN has 31 "experts" who picked the tournament and of those 31 experts, 18 picked Michigan State as the national champion. About 22% of all brackets in their challenge had MSU as the national champion. This is the biggest upset in the history of the tournament.

I'd agree today's 2/15 upset is now number 1, but the Arizona upset is easily second. Not sure Lute was a choke artist at that point and that team was led by Stoudimire, Reeves, and Chris Mills and they could flat out fill it up. Not to mention Nash got his team up double digits and Arizona came back with a huge run and EVERYONE expected the 15 seed to fold, but they still came back and won!

Maybe some have forgotten and should check out a replay sometime, but that game was and still is one of the weirdest game of runs I've ever seen.

Umm, they also had 2 TIME NBA MVP and all time great STEVE NASH, just sayin.

No, Nash wasn't that then, but he was still a stud...he almost went Lotto. Probably had a hand in it...great guards seem to matter a bit in March.

Not exactly sure on the exact workings, but wouldn't Gawker have to post a certain percentage of the ruling as bond before an appeal can go forward? So even if they can appeal it down, they will have to float a large *** chunk of change.

Good, eff that stupid outfit. Deadspin and few other pages are good, but Gawker, jezebel, etc. can GGP imo

In Kentucky, the loser in a monetary judgment does not have to post a bond to appeal, but they have the option of posting a bond to prevent the winner from executing on the judgment. Probably similar in most other states. It's called a suprsedeas bond.

Arizona lost to East Tennessee State in the first round as a three seed the year before losing to Santa Clara so it wasn't like no one saw it coming at all.

I'm no college fundraiser (or basketball), but SF Austin should go all in, change from the Lumberjacks to the Rattlesnakes just to see if they could get some kind of Vince McMahon money or something (e.g. Phil Knight w/ Oregon). Glass-breaking entry music and everything, crowd yelling 'hell yeah' and 'what', etc. Maybe become an amateur wrestling empire or something.
