No real idea other than theories. What is the main reason for the shortage of bus drivers?
They've cut down on that pretty substantially, but the magnet nonsense needs to go too. That and they should have been building schools in the West End and East Ends as opposed to doing the bussing years ago.No real idea other than theories.
I also have to wonder about the overall issues with JCPS and the way it's structured in terms of trying to drive routes pulling kids from all over God's green Earth to create diverse schools adds to the stress.
Could be. It sucks though. It's basically spam, right?
Friend from Jersey is always talking them up, haven't pulled the trigger on trying it though.
Most of the issues right now are due to “employees” being in power because no one can find workers right now. People love to ***** and moan about their boss, large corporations, etc but they are at least typically led by competent hardworking people that give a ****, while 80% of employees are bare minimum morons. This is what happens when the employees get the power.
It's a shame. I can't fathom that the individuals and families that bussing is supposed to help the most (inner city with high levels of minorities) enjoy being bussed passed a school 5 minutes away in order to attend one nearly an hour bus drive away.FCPS has it's own problems but the MAIN issue is Louisville holding on to bussing. At least in FC the kid goes to the school closest to his house. This has been a Louisville issue since my Dad was in school. It's why the Catholic Schools are so plentiful.
That and they lost A TON of employees while the Govenor, Unions, and the School Board decided to shut schools down for nearly 2 school years. So they haven't been able to replace them.
I trust you are correct. They've cut down on that pretty substantially, but the magnet nonsense needs to go too. That and they should have been building schools in the West End and East Ends as opposed to doing the bussing years ago.
As long as we have a democratic governor, we wont get charter schools and people in Louisville and Lexington will be stuck with garbage school systems. The big school unions will never allow that because they know they would lose a lot of kids and thus lose the $$$ from the state. And a Democratic governor will always do what the teacher unions tell them (even though I don’t think a lot of teachers believe what the big teacher unions preach). Vote Cameron in and maybe we have a chance at charter schools. Although with his wife being a public school teacher, it would be interesting to see what he does. At least there would be a chance. With king andy, zero chance.Well in a nutshell, bus drivers are lacking everywhere. Currently bus drivers make $22 an hour and it still isn’t worth the issues.
People think kids are a problem, but not if you are an adult and set standards usually.
The people in control are just uninvolved idiots making decisions from the outside looking in meanwhile the people they affect all see the fail coming and are just getting out of the way instead of standing up.
IMO, it starts with the bussing system and snowballs from there with lots of terrible decisions.
Charter schools are coming eventually.
Not sure if this is rhetorical. But I mean, who the f*ck would want to do that job besides people like Clown? If you’ve got a CDL why would you want to drive a school bus for a part time job? What is the main reason for the shortage of bus drivers?
Shew
also I believe that there are some rules in place now that limit the number of daily hours of indoctrination that teachers can haveWhen I was younger (old man shaking fist at cloud) half the buses were driven by teachers before and after school but now they have so many required staffing meetings and ish during bus route time to go to that it isn’t possible for them either.

You clearly didn't live here during COVID.Republicans outnumber Democrats in the Kentucky legislature 111-26.
Pretty sure that party can do whatever TF they want.
“King” Andy lol
Charter schools were authorized back in 2017 and more recently the republican controlled legislature had a bill that gave funding for charter schools. Andy beshear vetoed the bill to fund charter schools. Like I said he vetoed saying they would take money away from public schools. So I guess the issue now is they are “legal” based on republican legislation, but king Andy is holding funding because like I said he doesn’t want them;Republicans outnumber Democrats in the Kentucky legislature 111-26.

When you're issuing ridiculous and unconstitutional XO's, it unfortunately doesn't matter.Must be tough only having 82% of the legislature on your side![]()
I say that sometimes and then remember I like my time off and the pay that affords me luxuries I am accustomed.Kind of a waste I ever went to college. Totally stress free $50-60k/year gig with benefits sometimes sounds pretty wodie. Beats working at a bank.

This generation. Hired about 40 recent grads, at 60k a year. Put em in a classroom a few days a week. frequent breaks, yet somehow 5-10 minutes late getting going everytime. This ain't high school, kids.
Fair enough. I’m done.... and R's have a veto-proof super majority in both the House and Senate. If they want to override a veto, they can rather easily (and have quite often). My understanding is that there is also a block of R's that are not in favor of charters and/or the charter funding mechanisms proposed.
Did something happen between UK and Frederick Douglass? They have 4 FBS recruits on this year's team and it looks like they're going to Purdue, Arkansas, Michigan, and Northwestern.

He charge overtime?Bryant is already on the team.
I’ve worked in public education for nearly 30 years, and I wouldn’t be school bus driver in a Lexington-sized city or bigger if it paid $40 an hour. What is the main reason for the shortage of bus drivers?
