Thanks, man. Not late at all. He lived a long, great life and died peacefully and on his own terms at age 87. Can't ask for anything more than that. I appreciate it.

Arte Moreno is absolutely destroying that franchise. What a mess.
- gave Mike Trout > $426.5 million for his declining years (yes, I know he's still an All Star, but injuries are creeping up and he's clearly regressing from his ridiculous peak)
- wildly overspent on Anthony Rendon ($245 million), and he's barely a replacement level player at this point
- failed to trade Shohei Ohtani -- just admit the inevitable and load up your farm system, dude
- sent 2 of his top 5 prospects to the White Sox for Giolito when they should have been in sell mode
He's one of those owners that seems to think as long as you keep trying really hard and spending a lot of money you'll definitely win. NOT the case, pal.

PTI(pti)'s Dos and Don't:
Dos:
1. Trade away your best players
2. Horde cash to never spend
3. Whack it to the quality of your farm system
Don'ts:
1. Ever try to win a World Series
2. Spend money
3. Live in a city without a giant afro pick

So you think Anthony Rendon was a great signing?
He’s missed more than half his games and is currently hitting .236.

My recommendation to baseball GMs is to have lots of good players as close to the prime of their careers as possible, and to not spend a half billion dollars on ones that are not.
It’s actually a very easy job.

It’s actually not easy, but your basic equation is correct so I can agree.
The timing issue of a players “prime” and contractual conflicts with that time is always the problem.
Add to that when you are good your draft picks are later and you kinda get stuck between drafting good college kids or extremely high risk high reward high school kids.
Also baseball is by far the hardest sport to gauge young talent. The best players in High school almost always pitch and/or play shortstop.
So good luck making the playoffs and maintaining success long term without signing a few of the talents that got you there!

They have the $$ to make some mistakes, too. It’s not like they’re operating on razor thin margins here.
I’m wrong all the time, so I probably have no clue what I’m talking about here and Arte Moreno is killing it. But they have the two most talented players in a generation and haven’t made the postseason in 10 years. Guess they should just double down on what they’ve been doing.

<— looked like a badass in his cowboy collar and probably too big shoulder pads if we’re being honest here
Stopped for gas this morning and got the dreaded "see cashier" notice when I tried to pay at the pump. Had to go inside to swipe my card, but saw something incredible at the checkout. Gentlemen in front of me was buying a box of Raisinets. I have never seen a person buy them before. And this man wasnt buying anything else- not even gas. He just needed these things so bad that he went to a Shell just for Raisinets.
Pretty incredible.

He was one of the best hitters in the league at age 29 when he left Wash. You can never predict the future...injuries and whatnot. But in regards to the signing, yes, it was as good a deal as any at that time.
But since you like to speak on current affairs....
....when is EDC going to learn how to hit MLB pitching? 6 for his last 52 w/ 23 K's. He's brutally bad from the right side, so his Mantle days probably need to be stopped.
Road-trip snack GOAT…. David’s Sunflower seeds. Plain. No barbecue or ranch ******** either.
I don't even see why EDC keeps playing baseball.
.236 batting average / .361 on-base % / .318 slugging % / 2 home runs / 22 rbi / 23 runs / 2 stolen bases
.264 batting average / .310 on-base % / .443 slugging % / 6 home runs / 19 rbi / 33 runs / 17 stolen bases
Can you imagine being so gd stupid you'd rather have the 1st guy at $39 million/year than the 2nd guy at $720,000?
Seriously.

Another way to look at that, hat tip to fat Jonah Hill, you're paying $1,695,652 per run for #1 and $21,818 per run for #2.
<— buys Raisinets or an equivalent at the movies as a snack
I've never had them, but I believe raisins to be a bit of a waste. Just not much to write home about.
I did my quarterly check in on Holly Sonders and it appears that her face is something from an animated show. She is still moving forward with her naked sports league, "Exxposed Sportz" and seems baffled that their twitter account keeps getting flagged.

Lol at PTI Cashman over here. Let me tell you a little story. Two years ago, I asked him about a young, up-and-coming Dominican in the Reds system.
wcc: “PTI- what do you think about this Elly de la Cruz?”
PTI: *throat clear* “Heh you mean Smelly de la Cruz? He stinks” *now dramatically holding his nose between two fingers* “Peeeeeeeeee-youuuuuuu”

“The local media (UKO) seems to think we’d save everyone a lot of time, and trouble, if we just went outside and shot ourselves.”
They claim they built a superconductor that works at room temperature / normal pressure out of simple stuff with basically household equipment. Would be one of the most significant discoveries ever.
Over/Under on days until the new Childers video gets its own thread with over 5 pages.
I’m going 3.
I’m going 3.
Hearing it's actually a torn achilles. Just terrible.
That song is terrible.
Some artists (like Jason Isbell) really take off once they clean up their act and get sober. Personally, I wish Childers would go back to drinking, partying, hooering, and drugs.
Years ago, we used to say the worst thing that ever happened to Clint Black was a happy marriage to Lisa Hartman.
So what you're saying is BOTH these guys suck and need to be sent back to the minors??!
The Childers song is indeed terrible. The video appears to depict two gay coal miners in 50’s era Appalachia. Very poignant, Tyler.
Looks like he’s following the same path as Sturgill, Isbell, et al. Get sober, turn to suck.
Isbell’s music did indeed get ruined by his sobriety. He was fantastic with the Truckers and during the early 400 Unit years. Now he sounds like a whiny ***** carrying on at an AA meeting.

Duuuuuuude.
If you are saying Jason Isbell's music got WORSE after he sobered up, then that's a world class **HOT TAKE**.
He was so f'd up in his younger days he was barely able to contribute to Drive By Trucker's peak success. He's been on an amazing roll post-sobriety

Brokeback Coalmine was a weird concept to go with in the video.
