Last February when Wodie pointed out all of the random nagging injuries UK has experienced the last 5 years or so Rob Harris was very close reaching Joel Justus or David Hobbs levels of disdain every time I saw him on the bench. Good riddance.

It sure would be nice to get through the gauntlet and grind of January & February without the reoccurring nagging injuries that cause MAJOR pieces to miss games.

The $$$ is pretty simple, IMO. THEE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY needs to siphon off ungodly amounts of money that they have, and shower our football and basketball team in riches. The end. Crunch some numbers and pay them what they’re worth.

Asking BJW for charities and whatnot is fine, but the entire problem with NCAA is the schools not paying their players. Sort of a slap in the face to ask the communities to support the school’s players. Very on brand for the NCAA. F them and f Mitch.

Well who do you think pays once the University starts shelling out that money?

I got 1 clue, the university isn’t going to knock it off their bottom line.

Well, they should. That’s my point. Some of it.

I know, never going to happen.

People like to say things like “Uk/SEC football pays for X amount of UK sports”, for example. Well they shouldn’t. Some of that money should be used to pay the players.

Just like corporations should eat the cost of higher wages and taxes too?

I mean while we are dreaming let’s fix this inflation right now!

No one’s fixing a goddamned thing.

I’ll tell you what, my summer beer has been Michelob Lager and Mich Light (the OG - not Ultra). And it’s been great. They’re kind of hard to find, but they’re still out there. The Light isn’t markedly better than any other American light beer, but still better. The Lager is a significant step up from Bud Heavy, and I’ve always had a special affection for Bud Heavy. It blows more expensive basic ***** “craft” lagers out of the water.

Party Source has bottles of both in sixers and twelvepacks. Only the Light is available in cans, 18 packs.

Word.

Remember when Stoops got here and Erik Korem was supposed to be this revolutionary new strength and conditioning coach that was gonna turn our bunch of scrubs into SEC athletes? Well then a bunch of our players kept getting hurt and he quietly left. Korem now appears to be at William & Mary. Meanwhile Stoops & Marrow consistently have squads with legit SEC talent and got there by recruiting their balls off and keeping the talent on the field.

I love hearing that this new guy's focus is on injury prevention. Year in and year out, Cal is going to have us stocked with high level talent. Injury prevention at UK is especially important because we usually rely on freshmen who aren't used to a full season of high level college basketball and have a bad tendency of getting injured or losing a bit of their edge later in the season.

Like PTI, I'm skeptical of any hype about any strength and conditioning coach. My hope is that I never, ever, ever have to learn this guy's name. If I am hearing about it other than an introductory puff piece after the initial hire, it is almost always a bad sign.

One thing I've learned over the years as a UK fan is a program is not in a good place when there's a lot of talk about strength and conditioning. The only time it was ever a positive was when Rock Oliver was going to get those first Pitino teams into better shape than the opposition. That's it. Scott Holsopple was going to be the difference between Tubby and Final Fours, Korem was going to put us at the top of the SEC thru science. I watched UT a few years back when that hayseed doofus Dooley was going behind the scenes in his highwaters and chewing gum wanting to show off UT's strength and conditioning and thought "yeah, they're fu#ked".

TDF Quick Hitters:

-Too hot today for early aggressive racing among the favourites. Expect them to probably take it easy today.

No one wants to be the one to start things off in case they end up blowing up, probably. It's also worth remembering that this sort of heat in the mountains can be especially brutal due to the intensity of the sun.

-V should just let the break ride away it it. In case Vingegaard isn't the strongest today, it's risky to have the time bonuses in play. And if he is the best, he will still have a chance to increase his lead. Kruijswijk/Roglič aren't likely to podium either, so allowing Pidcock to move up shouldn't bother them too much.

Regardless, if Vinny and Pogi come in together today, Pog receivers over the next few days and takes it to Vinny in third week and wins the TDF, Jumbo have no one to blame but themselves - the way Pog is looking today they could knock him out completely…….as in he could lose chunks of time

-Froome staring at his stem and yoyoing, just like the old days lmao

-Big surprise thus far is having only one French rider in the break on Bastille Day. Perhaps they think that Bardet or Gaudu will honor the tricolor by winning from the favorites group?

-One small gripe regarding the Eurosport Commentary ---> we were promised that Bernie Eisel would become DS at Bora this season. So Why TF is he still polluting the airwaves with his overlong interview questions and sleep-inducing post-stage analyses?? 🤮

...buckle up, boys!

Forgot to mention yesterday's fireworks and it being one of the best stages in the last few decades. I was spot on about Pogacar's hubris being his only undoing.

Col du Galibier, Col de la Croix-de-Fer, and Alpe d'huez today
