- Saw an Instagram post saying “do you have that one friend who you go to grab one drink with then end up completely drunk?”

Yeah, lady - all of them. As my wife has found out again on Saturday. Neither myself nor any of my degenerate friends can be trusted to just grab a drink together. It’s perilous every time. Could go either way.

- Enough is enough. I will be in the theater tomorrow night for Top Gun.

- Going through the pre- preseason Top 25 gave me a helluva lot more confidence next year. Not a very strong college basketball year coming.

- Summer Holidays:

1. Labor Day
2. Memorial Day
3. Independence Day

^ Easy list.

Valhalla being sold by the PGA to a local group is a bit of a bummer - guessing that will effectively end Major Championship Golf there. 🙁

At least we get one more Ryder Cup.

Maverick was a 10/10 great time in the theater and so I've been on a big 80s soundtrack kick all week. Hans Zimmer is great and all, but there was just a certain something about the John Carpenter/Harold Faltermeyer era. (Synthesizers. It's all synths. It's glorious.)

Along with my strange compulsion to join the Navy (yvan eht nioj, y'all) I have an overwhelming urge to purchase aviators. I think I can dodge the Navy part but ******* ridiculously expensive aviator sunglasses are CALLING me. #womenbeshoppin

Not once has a group of buddies got together and actually only had 1. It’s a 1:4 ratio for me in most cases.

-Turned 45 today! My father built his first little motel at 45. It was the age I figured I better have my **** together by. Sucks that it’s here.

-I just have Cal fatigue. We could win two more titles and I just wouldn’t care for the guy. Well maybe one anyway.

-Both the twins graduated with honors but neither, as of today, want to start college. This covid thing got them out of whack with school. Enjoy the manual labor this fall.

-Going on the road to Oxford for sure. We owe those ******** an *** whipping. Bet we give them a real good one too.

-Have a Airbnb down in Navarre and a guy wanted a $200 credit because we didn’t have a tea pitcher and a piece of the tv remote was cracked. It still worked. Just didn’t like it had a small crack. Some people need to up their dose.

Yeah… major golf will be gone but at least there’s some talk that Valhalla will then be awarded a yearly PGA event (if ownership and membership agree to it).

I have a friend that works for the PGA. His office is at Valhalla. I'll be peppering him with questions tomorrow.

Bourbon and Bow ties. Anyone going?

7 miles on foot tonight. Feeling good.

$4.99/gallon. Lol. Good thing I only drive 80 miles round trip /rolleyes

Mayans M.C. getting real.

It says rooms starting at $399 a night if you don’t buy the package, that’s cheaper than a night in Nashville.

Bunch of teenagers (young adults?) shooting at each other at the Shilito basketball courts tonight at 9 o’ clock.

So that’s nice.

Little inter-GYERO matchup in the first round of the state baseball tournament today with DeSales and Woodford Co.

Going tonight to watch Russell County take on the Fightin’ JDrums.

Not a big fan of Stoops' position (and UK's) regarding the 9 game SEC schedule. First, to preserve the Louisville game is obviously ********. They don't care about that game, and if they did, they wouldn't entertain dropping it in a 9 game format. As much as we may enjoy the game, it doesn't really do anything for the program and they know that. Nobody in our league cares, and not like you need to drum those little ***** every year to have recruiting success in Jefferson County. The SEC an hour from home sells itself.

Second, it's a fool's errand. The conference is a freight train to becoming a super league. Why take the arrows? F'n deal with it. YOU'RE IN THE GD SEC. UK has had decades to get their house together with favorable nonconference scheduling, and for the most part, have finally done so. Act the part for once. Market the new schedule, sell the expanded geographic reach in Norman and Austin, use it to further differentiate yourself in our Big Ten recruiting territories; leverage it.

It just feels like we're trying to put a genie back in the bottle when the genie has generally been very good to us. The rising tide of the SEC has changed everything for UK Football and they wisely took advantage of it with investing in the facilities and drawing in an entirely new athlete to the program. Don't be a little ***** now, especially when it's so damn futile doing so.

Sec should go to 10 game schedule (all conf games) and then do their own mini playoff. Those games could be sold individually to the TV networks and would bring in significantly more than these **** OOC games.

All the money would then stay in house. Yea, a 6-4 record (plus any additional wins/losses in mini playoff) may not look that impressive at a high level but I’d be willing to bet the sec wouldn’t lose any spots in the big tournament.

- Complete agree with SAE. It’s going to happen. Get in line.

- And F’ing Barnhart. It’s not cheating anymore to pay kids. Stop playing the self-righteous semantics game and let your star coaches do what they have to do. Our two biggest football rivals sure as hell are.

- Guess the Zags, Carolina and Big Blue are the favorites. DeCoursy and Seth Davis have us #1- great time to fire our coach!

- Bill Withers “Ain’t No Sunshine” - what a tune.

- This Saturday is German-American Day if you want to buy me some kind of wurst.

- Sad day in Cincinnati- Paul Daugherty is retiring at the end of the month. Heard something ridiculous a few years back that the Cincinnati Enquirer/cincinnati.com attributed like half their subscriptions to him. He’s what a local sports columnist should be - deeply rooted, tell-it-how-it-is without being provocative by design. His best columns were actually away from the sports arena- when he was writing about his now-married daughter who has Downs. Tear-worthy every time in a good way.

- Speaking of being a sappy Dad, I got to stay away from social media until this Uvalde stuff passes a bit. Just brutal.

- Weirdest Kentucky basketball scheduling move ever....that away game at Canisius back during Tubby's first season. It was the back-end of a home-and-home. I think it *might* have been the first college basketball game at that new arena in Buffalo, but still....not sure what Pitino was thinking on that one.

- Nice to enjoy some Bourbon n' Toulouse last night at its second location and not have to deal with cramped quarters and hard-to-find parking.

- No Draymond fan, but wouldn't mind one bit if he gave Grant Williams the business at least a few times over the next ten days.

- "Iron Eagle" was the GoBots version of "Top Gun".

- Paul Daugherty was one of the reasons why the Cincinnati Post was my afternoon/evening go-to sports read back when I was growing up. For some reason, my dad got the Post, which was an afternoon paper, and would bring it home from his office every day. I remember spreading open the sports section on the living room floor while my mom was cooking supper and reading articles and box scores. That probably taught me as much math as any of my actual classes. As I got older, Terry Boehmker's coverage of northern KY high school sports was a daily read, as was Daugherty and the great Joe Posnanski in the Cincy Post sports section. And Andy Furman's weekly column was a must-read as well.

We used to have sports sections with character and characters. We used to be a proper country.

-I actually like the guy but it's time for Mitch to go do charity or non-profit stuff. Digging in on this NIL is just going to end poorly. It's a new era, and it's wild west right now, but when the dust settles we have to be positioned right. He's not the guy for that job.

-KU ever going to get their punishment?

-Feel a little bad how out of touch with sports and current events but my stress level, during my busiest time at work, has been ridiculously low.

-The Match was entertaining AF last night. Rodgers is such a weirdo. F*ck you, Tom Brady. I 'm supposed to hate you but you really make it difficult.

-Bahama trips are fun as hell, I'll say that. But go ahead and double or triple whatever the room rate is because they are super aggressive with food/booze prices. Thought about taking the kiddos if it was at Atlantis but we'll probably sit this one out. 1st go around was pretty special though, access to the players and staff was not like I'd experienced in anything else I've been around with UK, and especially Cal. Up all night gambling with Cal/Barbee, partying with the players, finding players passed out under poker tables, getting drunk with Mrs Towns(RIP), riding the ****** shuttle back with Jay Bilas. They really clamped down on it the last time. Guess WCS ordering bottle service and charging it to his room most likely caused some concern. Wild week. If you're thinking about it, you should go.

-DJ got PAID.
