-I wonder about the authenticity of the draft opinion.

^I do not wonder about the timing of the leak. It's an election year and summer riot season is nigh...gotta get the foot soldiers fired up.

^last you'll hear outta me on the subject. You're welcome.
It reads like Alito. I’m assuming it’s legit. As far as a leak goes, it’s either a clerk or a justice - probably the former. Not sure who else would have access.

No. But him being from Nebraska, I'm sure he has been to Nebraska-Lincoln and Creighton. It's one of those, probably Creighton.
I'm looking at it from the perspective of Cal's comments yesterday re: potential players and NIL.

It initially read as Cal not wanting to play the NIL game with recruits, but that's a bit different from a kid who's having his agent field the best offer without much interest beyond that.

Well get used to it, because that’s the reality of todays college game. And it’s only going to get worse.

That’s like saying 20+ years ago “I don’t mind talking to a young man’s parents, but I’m not willing to associate with his handlers.”

John sounds incredibly tone deaf here.

I don't believe that. I don't think that's how NBA, NFL, MLB free agents make their decisions.

Of course, who can offer the highest bid is going to have an advantage, but they still actually meet with the prospective teams and take into account how well the franchise is run, their fit on the roster, etc.

Supposedly, leak is attributed to Sotomayor's clerk who has been quoted by the Politico author before...RvW will be thrown back to the states...
Jacked for FB season and Levis's potential. With no Robinson, his ability to lead receivers and hit them in stride will be imperative. Worried about the D and ability to get off the field.

- That kid is going to kill it at Creighton, both NIL-wise and on the court. When Greg MacDermott has the right pieces, he knows what to do with them. Attracting/keeping talent has always been his issue.

- No fan of CP3, but man, I just love watching the Suns play. The roster fit, the coaching, the style of play, it all works. I'd be willing to bet that the dudes on that team love being on that team. Just seems like the egos all mesh and roles are understood, and Monty gets them where they need to be without being a psychopath about it.

- Gonna be a whole lotta "Wild Health Genomes" t-shirts and caps showing up either at central Kentucky Goodwill stores and/or third-world countries here in a year or two. It's fine to get cute with minor league baseball names/themes, but there's a fine line between cute and stupid, and that line was probably crossed.

- I'm trying to think of anything in the world more utterly pointless and ridiculous than the Met Gala, and I'm coming up empty.*

- Interested in hearing what spice rubs GYERO uses for grilling purposes, whether homemade or store-bought. Used Rendezvous last night and it was fine, but always looking to mix it up.

- *other than "Wild Health Genomes"

Basically take your entire post, then say the opposite. Do you really not follow free agency? NFL holdouts??

Do a quick Google search on Scott Boras or the Poston brothers.

Tyreek Hill (after attempting an impromptu abortion) just left the Chiefs for the Dolphins.

Highly doubt anything other than money played into his decision. If you're Payton/Malone chasing a ring then, yeah, money doesn't matter and fit, roster and ability to win will matter. An 18 year old who's never seen 10,000 in one place? He's making a business decision.

You can’t fit all athletes into one little box (obvi), but if you’re going to land the big boys you’d better get ready for any and all circumstances. Some visits may be a nice sit down meal with grandma and talking about being close to home, whereas others you’re negotiating a slimy shady *** deal with scum bag handlers and leeches and sycophants.

If I’m John, I’m preparing for more of the latter.

Isaiah Wong at Miami told the school to get him an NIL deal or he was going to transfer, and in about 48 hours they came up with $800,000.

Two things I hope everyone is realizing:

- EVERYONE is going to start doing this
- every one of us would do the exact same

I mean I’ve tried to haggle like crazy for a 3% raise at a bank before. Imagine it being this easy to get almost a mill. Lol. Sign me up for that.

That’s an incredibly stupid message to send from a “Players First” program.
I'm glad that we have Beisner on this and can claim that we are innovators, etc but we've already seen multiple occasions where it certainly looks like quality players went to lower ranked schools because they wanted an NIL guarantee.

I have no idea if that honk is legit good or just looked so against bad competition but he had a ton of legit interest from great schools -- he was much more highly ranked than Reeves. I'd have liked to have him.

Shaedon effin' Sharpe made a half million in NIL money, per Kyle Tucker.

I can't imagine how badly I would have trashed a brand new Porsche in one fall semester at UK. Cig burns, sticky cup holders, permanent stale beer smell, resin everywhere, dents all over the doors, a constantly empty tank, a Fd alignment, worn tires. Getting towed with no money to get it back would have been the best possible outcome tbh.

We've lost guys for money and playing time before. Not like that just started.

Wiggins, Zion, Bagley, McDaniels, etc.

FFS. Hold the guys that shouldn't leave and play all your shooters. That's the issue. Stay focused.

This is where the focal point needs to be for next year and beyond.

a) recruiting shooters
b) putting shooters on the court
c) running an offense that is conducive to making outside shots

Not the most complex philosophical strategy but one that has me WAY more concerned about the short-term success of our program than NIL.

BJW and Billy Joe Business (BJB) have no trouble finding their wallet to put the program in a position to have success. But they close it quickly when their investment has ROI's like the last few years.

It will be interesting to see which boosters are willing to throw this cash on an on-going basis. Doing it for a year or two with no real return is one thing… being relied on to keep it up (especially after inevitably being burned by paying a 17 year old $500,000 for absolutely nothing) is a different story.

Cal should come up with a new slogan for NIL, something like “you must play well to…”

Nah.

How about “work hard and you will…”

Nah.

“Earned…earned and not just handed to you!”

Nah.

I’m so close, it will come to me in a second. Needs to be a permanent branding, a tattoo of sorts for the program.

They did it for 70 years with no tax benefits. Now they can actually run this **** through their small businesses.

Not much has changed y'all.
