Only about 30 minutes in but a conversation with the 2 most reasonable mainstream voices during rona is great so far. Big fan of BM even though I disagree with about 60% of what he says.

I thought it was good. FF a bit. As usual, I like Rogan but his schtick gets too 1998 stoner for me quite often. Generally enjoy Maher although I don’t find him all that likable.

Baseball team has some great threads and these aren't any of them. Actually worse than any UK uniform I've ever seen.

They're real bad. Also I hate seeing all these teams, UK included, going to turf. A baseball field should have grass and dirt. When you slide you should get dirty.

Maybe you know this (or maybe you don't) but once upon a time GYERO was the place for decent basketball takes.

You give none. Filler. Spam.

Not trying to blast your self worth on a message board, but I don't think you've triggered anything -- it's just fact. I post this was zero emotion.

Leave the CBB to the top posters. Just read and follow along. The board will be better for it.
Geese has turned into the whiniest ****** on this board.

It's sad. I hope it isn't indicative of trouble on the home or professional front.

Prayers sent Geese.

Friday morning randoms:

*Anyone got any hot picks for Keeneland for Saturday? I don't think I've finished ahead there since literally like 2005 and I've found for some wacky reason I enjoy gambol a lot more when I win. I just want to hit a $10 superfecta and change my life forever, is that so much to ask?

*April is easily my favorite month of the year. Yeah, the weather has been a crappy for the most part, but nothing is better than the promise of Spring. Flowers and trees blooming, birds chirping and darting around with glee, longer days with more and more folks making their way outdoors... all good things. I will never ***** about April.

*You know whose comedy hasn't aged well? Tom Green. Watched a few old episodes of The Tom Green Show the other day and WTF was I thinking as a kid? He had a few good bits, but mostly his comedy was just repeating the same line over and over again with goofy, drawn out stares in between, and then just doing something randomly gross. How did this guy get famous? The undercutters pizza idea was a brilliant bit though:

* Met Mr. Red and there's just something about seeing a big goofy mascot in a real life setting that is hysterical. But wouldn't you know it, the dude was deep into QAnon.... but in all seriousness, folks here in Cincy are genuinely pissed off by Phil Castellini's comments. There is definitely a significant chunk of the fanbase who doesn't plan to spend a dime on the team this year after that. Phil strikes me as the Brad Calipari of the Castellini clan.

*You ever heard Gilbert Gottfried's real voice? It'll blow your mind (1:03 of the clip here):

Friday Five with a 90s vibe:

1. Losing a Whole Year - Third Eye Blind
2. Some Might Say - Oasis
3. Porcelain - Moby
4. A Murder of One - Counting Crows
5. Midnight in a Perfect World - DJ Shadow

- basement studio is 97% complete...
Black Sabbath, Echo & the Bunnymen and some 80's hair metal. That's it. That's the list.

- Wordle : Ice Bucket Challenge : Tebowing : Planking : Black Square : Tide Pod Challenge : Yard Signs

- Give me a Brandon Knight type point all/air over these recent leads that can't hit the rim from further than 5'. Such a luxury when you don't have to play 4 on 5 offensively.

- Roughly all pop culture from the early Aughts should be catapulted to the sun. Most music, movies and comedy had a very one-hit-wonder 80's feel, but corporatized, so as to remove the lovable, nostalgic angle.

- Looking forward to seeing all the gyero rug rats decked out in their finest Easter attire, scrambling around to stuff their baskets as much loot as possible.

- Some families put candy in their egg hunts, ours was cash incentivized. The key was to not fill up on sweets early in the day to avoid any cramping when you're circling the yard for the 47th time in search of that elusive last oblong piggybank.

Came from a large Catholic family so most were filled with nickels, dimes and quarters, but like the Showcase Showdown there were a handful of $1 & $5 eggs that were scattered about. That really made you hustle and throw bows, if needed.

- Recession on the horizon? Pretty much have the tornado-like economic atmosphere lining up to usher in that type of storm. Fed plans to raise rates faster than they have the past decade until 2023 and while the market isn't in bear mode, we've got the whipsaw highs/lows that usually precede it. Add the supply chain crunch and oil isn't close to being resolved, should be a hoot!

- In more positive news, high 70's, low 80's by next weekend. Patio drinks, tunes and grilling SZN open for business.

Dream Theater - 'Pull Me Under'
Drivin' N' Cryin' - 'Straight to Hell'
The Power Station - 'Get it On'
Dee Gees - 'Tragedy'
STP - 'Trippin' On a Hole in a Paper Heart'

- Daddy would you like some sausages?

- A young 30 year old lady I work with has started eating sardines for her lunch. She's pretty fit, into long distance running, fairly attractive for a teacher, and really into health trends. She's a nice, conservative girl with a teacher-husband who is also into these trends. They're nice kids and I get along well with them.

BUT . . . if you are openly eating sardines around people in the teacher's lounge during lunch, what kind of message are you sending? Because I have some inappropriate comments I'm dying to make.

- More strong storms possible this weekend? Get pumped, April. We've been through enough the last couple of weeks. This bs month almost guarantees a perfect Derby Week forecast, though. Right? RIGHT!?!?!?!

- 5 music takes from a music simpleton:

1. Underrated guitarist/artist I've been digging lately: Joe Walsh. One of the best slide guitarists out there imo.

2. "Rambling Gambling Man" by Bob Seger is a top 5 track by him. Throw in "Sunspot Baby" as another deeper cut that should crack his top 5.

3. The instrumental at the beginning and end of "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" by the Stones is pretty cool. Bet that would be pretty cool to listen to after one of those Wynn gummies, but I'll never know.

4. I don't understand the fascination with Jeff Beck. He is listed in all of the Top Guitarists List of all time, but I just never got into his style. Different strokes I guess.

5. I know DMB is polarizing around here, but they get me ready for spring. Jam bands and outdoor merriment go together like peanut butter and jelly.

-funny you should say that bonz...the music in my head is as if iommi and will sergeant were fused together in a lab.

Sim to this but with more dynamic percussion/a little "greasier":

Guitar is solid, def has a tone you'd find on the 'Master of Reality' album. Drums are trash but plenty of room to stretch out.

Headed back from Athens GA on work trip. I've said it before but for a town of its size, it has several fantastic food eats. Revisited Seabear Oyster Bar. Fantastic. Last Resort is still the best place in town. The scenery, as you can imagine, was pretty good too. Super granola downtown, however. College town I get it, but man I saw way too many Aldous Snows.

Took new Japanese expat down with me. Introduced him to IPA's and he fell in love. He's bringing back 3 different cases of Terrapin. Personally think they're all gross -- but he was mind blown.

Speaking of ryes, scored a 21 Thomas H Handy a couple weeks back in exchange for Russell Reserve 13 I had previously snagged at Turkey gift shop. It's a throwback.

House has been under reno the last couple months so we've been living with Mel and Dena. It's been quite the eye opener seeing how my parents now 'live' with each other day to day. My dad has just given up. NCIS, Hallmark Channel, and StL Cardinals 24/7. Not even motivated to get out there and mulch. Red flag or whatever, but he's 75. Sobering.

With a pregnant wife, we're just ready to get back in there. Contractor has been really good and is still on schedule, amazingly. Should be able to move back in by end of April. Baby GF is due May 20 so we didn't have a big margin for error on the timeline. Thankfully LSAT didn't kill anyone being displaced and all, unable to 'nest'.

Beth Mowins and Holly Rowe just killed it last night on Pac 12 softball Thursday Night Throwdown. What a duo.

Vineyard Vines szn. Redbuds, crapapples, dogwoods starting to turn. Just give me 60's and clear -- but we can't have that, can we?

Really keeping an eye on wcc and how he handles the off-season. Is he on the ***** bus or not? Seems back and forth. But sure as **** he'll let me know he's done with our ***** guards (ir!)regardless of their first road 4-25 FG showing.

Still bummed over Hopkins. Firstly, because I really liked him and his skillset. But also because it's just another notch in the ol' belt for our HOF coach who couldn't make it work. The massive turnover and lack of continuity is just deflating. Our program no longer knows who it is. :Insert Taylor Twellman rant WHAT ARE WE DOING??:

* Happy Good Friday.

* I'm pretty sure Vern is alone on the Calipari Safari Ark right now. But, shockingly, I'm not on the full blown "Cal can't coach. The game passed him by!!! Modern Offense!!! **** Cab," either. I'm firmly on the ***** Bus, however, and have tickets to the **** Cab just waiting for me to hit the ORDER button.

I just wish Cal would STFU and coach, which I still think he can. We don't need catch phrases and tightening up at the end of games, we need the bloodthirsty Italian Stallion who pissed off John Chaney and Jim Calhoun to the point of wanting to fight. And who beat our greatest team ever early in the season and gave them all they wanted in the Final Four.

****, give me the coach that had us leading the SEC in scoring and blowing out the likes of UT, UNC and Kansas just this year. Just don't give me any more excuses. This is it.

Honestly, I wouldn't shed a tear if he left now. But I think he has another 3-year run left in him before smirking off into the sunset.

* I am completely on the F*CK THE REDS train, though. What a tone-deaf SOB that Phil Castellini is.

* At some point, too much of GYERO has gone from funny guys acting like ******** to ******** trying to be funny. Get better. Know your roles.

* I touching miss a lot of you GYEROites, though. Been too long.

* Getting **** together for the 2nd annual Chris Krentz Memorial Bourbon Derby. Gonna be at New Riff this year and a limited number of tickets will go on sale tonight at 5:00 if anyone is interested.

Any bourbon donations or other things we could use for prizes/gift baskets (looking at you, genius business owners) in a Silent Auction would be appreciated.

You can start buying the raffle tix for the bourbon tonight, too.

* Gotta travel 40 minutes to watch my little one play soccer tonight and then almost an hour to watch her play in the morning.

* I used to love the Chili Peppers, but I put their temp XM station on a bit ago and had to change it after about 15 minutes. Back to Tom Petty's Buried Treasure for me. I love those old blues guys.

* Krazy, I'm about to pull the trigger on a Blackstone. Buckeye Marge is making me get rid of one of my smokers first.

* Everyone have a great Easter! Enjoy your kids, pets and a shitload of ham.

Huber bought a bass guitar and was playing in the band like 2 days later.

Had a 4th of July Party at my old house in Masterson Station and invited a band (The Redneck Rampage) that some of my fraternity brothers were in. For a 1,500 square foot house, had maybe 100 people there in total.

The bassist (not a fraternity brother) smoked too much "stuff" and passed out in his truck after the first set.

I've picked on guitars and played around on drums enough to have a little knowledge of what to do. The party had to go on, so I picked up the bass, and we finished the night out with a bang. Afterwards they told me if I would go buy a bass, I could be in the band. I did, my GF at the time wasn't a fan, but I said F it and did it.

We played a ton at all of Lexington's hottest bars and establishments, like Caddyshacks 2, Friends & Company, The Thoroughbred Lounge, and the infamous Southland Bowling Alley Bar. Totally big time. 🤣

Our biggest and strangest event was playing opening day at a Lexington Legends game pre game and had the wrestler Jerry Lawler on stage with us dancing around.

For all of you who attended some of those disastrous shows, my apologies again........ I know you were laughing with me, not at me. 🙄

SGA as a PG is, to me, that perfect sweet spot for a Cal team. Shifty with the ball, can shoot just good enough to keep them honest and an extremely high BBIQ guy. ****, just get me a team full of Canadians at this point.

Would have loved 2-3 years of that dude.

A thread:

I believe this was a trend someone in the industry posted about at some smaller tracks- where it stands out even more as "wtf is going on."

I asked my old college roommate, who is a VP at Churchill about if they look into things like this and he gave a quick, firm- "Lol"

Hook your boy up with a Willy special. Perhaps a Vern Almighty movie poster accompanied by Shagari, Aaliyah, maybe some characters from The Wire. It's lonely on the ark.
Been crushed at work despite there not being any cars to sell.

I'll try to get something together next week. Dunno about Jesus on a horse and the other requests, though. I might need to hire a crew.

-Did the April Trifecta, Florida Derby at Gulfstream, Thursday at The Masters, and Pappy night at Buffalo Trace.

-Some good, big news of Football additions coming soon.

-Travel Ball, Travel Ball, Travel Ball. FML.

-Supply chain is at the all-time worst/lowest point ever. If you're invested in any retail business, get out now and rebuy once things have returned to normal.

Automotive isn't much better. We're all underwater, just trying to hang on.

As willy can likely attest, inventory at dealerships are LOL -- and it isn't getting better any time soon.
