Making Pizza Chiena. Already drove and purchased specialty items. Crust chilling in fridge. To bring to family Easter.
Tomorrow I’m hickory smoking a spiral cut ham and finishing with a Dr Pepper glaze. This just for boys… free ham.
So much scuttlebutt on HOB with some insider dude. Cal’s future becomes instantly untenable if/when Sharpe boogies. Insider guy still pretty unsure Sharpe can even get drafted per CBA.

"What's your main beer you guys sell in this hipster dive?"
"Well our main seller is an IPA that tastes like a delicious mixture of Chocolate, Coffee, Grapefruit, and a pinch of sock water. We call it Hazy All Day Voodoo IPA. I think you'll love it! Can I grab you one?"
"That's great. What kind of beer do you have that just tastes like beer. You know, beer that tastes like beer without chocolate, or coffee, or fruits in? Just beer. The way it's meant to be made. You got anything like that?"

Blackberry Smoke put on a great show at the Palace last night. They had cancelled a few shows leading up to last night due to COVID and the singer losing his voice, so they had a great energy. Always sucks to go to a live show when the artist/band is just mailing it in for the night. Clapton, Kiss, and Van Halen come to mind.

Hazy IPA's are pretty good. VooDoo Ranger in particular.

- Willy, the Blackstone is the best thing I’ve ever had. I love the smoker and all, but I’ve used that thing every night since opening it.
You’ll probably be better at it than I am, but our household loves everything I pull off it.

- Speaking if Ryes, and all GYERO jokes aside, I’d love for a GeeseFeeder opinion on the DH 17YO I’m about to release. Obviously it will suck, but at 140 proof it’s so damn hot I’m at a loss how far down the proof chart to go for flavor.
- Been in marriage counseling for a little over a month, and it’s worked wonders. We weren’t in a divorce type situation, but we were more than happy being overwhelmed and trying to tackle our part by ourselves and ignore our life/kids. Even the kids have stated they notice a difference and happy we are going.
- Hosting Easter. Ham, potato salad, 7layer salad, fruit salad, corn bread, peanut butter pie and this brownie/strawberry desert thing we found a recipe for somewhere and love.
Oh, and deviled eggs, of course.
- St Augustine in early June. Can’t wait to get back to our favorite space in heaven. Man I miss that place!

IPAs were created to survive a six month trip across the ocean...loaded it up with Hops so it wouldnt kill anyone...disgusting. Definitely not created for taste. 
If we get Timme then Brooks has to come back. Would allow us to move him to his more natural spot at the 3.

I don't know how this myth got started, but it is complete fiction.
I am not a fan of super hopped IPA's but this is not the reason they were 'invented'
Hazy IPA's as I said before, are the way to go.

IPAs were created so I can chemically survive the insanity of a pandemic. 2 IPAs, a gummy or two and finish with some low carb beer for the night is now a staple.

IPAs are like anything else - there’s good and bad. I prefer hazy and New England- style, but I like getting punched in the face by hops occasionally (Bell’s Hopslam, for example).
I’m pissed off and concerned, but I don’t see the point in wallowing in dread and/or bitching incessantly. We’re not down and out. We’re likely preseason Top 5. Obviously, Cal needs to continue evolving.
I’m a micropessimist and macrooptimist by nature.
Toward the end, I was certain Tubby couldn’t get it done. Same with Billy Clyde. Not there yet with Cal.
Also very concerned Mitch would take the easy route and hire Holtman.

All you Catholics need to try washing down that fried fish sandwich with an ice cold Sierra Nevada. It’s one of the best food/drink pairings of all time.

IPA’s weren’t created from whole cloth. They are a copy of an “October” beer that landed gentry used to brew and store for special occasions.
The long and rough journey usually left them with stale beer. So they copied the hearty October beers which were made to be stored for a long time. To keep the October beers tasting fresh, extra hops were added - so the first IPA did the same thing and used extra hops.
I speak from the position of the Smithsonian on this.
IPA’s have always relatively hoppy as compared to other beers due to the origin story described above. The “super hoppy” variety may not have been invented from the start and toned down through the years - it’s been the opposite progression.
But that “it’s all BS” argument is like saying Flavor-Blasted Goldfish crackers were never flavorful to start with. Well, you’ve got another thing coming, brother. Because guess what, Goldfish crackers were very flavorful from the start and were designed to be so.

Spoken like a true fan of IPAs. IDK about it being a myth...pretty detailed about Mr. George Hodgson's brewery...technically wasn't invented, as similar items existed...but was getting bad returns on his product, adjusted it and was successful with a hopped up brew. Hodgson dominated the export market....so, it's hard to say it is complete fiction.
"While sailors sick from scurvy groaned above, the beer below fared just as poorly. It often arrived stale, infected, or worse, not at all, the barrels having leaked or broken — or been drunk — en route.....Still, the army, and thus the EIC, was frustrated with the quality Hodgson was providing. Hodgson tried unfermented beer, adding yeast once it arrived safely in port. They tried beer concentrate, diluting it on shore. Nothing worked. Nothing, that is, until Hodgson offered, instead of porter, a few casks of a strong, pale beer called barleywine or "October beer."
I can do exactly one IPA and that’s enough.
Here's the bottom line, IMO. The Brits took the best beer in the world (made by Germans, as God intended) and couldn't leave it the **** alone. Adding this and that, a crapload of hops etc.
