Shorts:

- Big shout out to Mother Nature for compounding this miserable March with ****** weather.

- UNC pulling a Final 4 out their *** just like they did with Gutheridge in 2000. I’ve thought long and hard about this and I have to root for the Heels tomorrow. It makes me sick. Just feel more comfortable rolling the dice on their ability to win two more than Duke.

- Just listened to Jay Kaspian King a Chapel Hill native echoing that the win over K in Cameron was his greatest sports moment. You’ve won four championships in your life. What a farce. Immediately lost any respect for the guy.

- I guess adjD isn’t a thing anymore. All F4 teams were marginal pre-tournament.

- As @fatguy87 noted, good luck in opponents’ three-point shooting has been key to all these teams’ runs.

- Favorite spring crafties- Gumballhead and Oberon.

- Looking like I may be headed to the Bahamas for the Big Blue summer trip. Wife’s been wanting to take Noelle home to visit family anyway. Our family friends live like 15 minutes from the resort. Conch salad and ice cold Kaliks here I come.

- Friday 5:

No Hard Feelings- Avett Brothers
Round Here Buzz- Eric Church
Tom Barrett - Ian Noe
Lucky Now- Ryan Adams
Leave Me Praying - DMB

Do you think any of the best players are saying anything different about any college they commit to? There are hundreds of kids in the transfer portal every year. There will be more NBA draft declarations than there are draft picks.

The quote might be a bad look but let's not act like it's one kid or one school. It's the norm unfortuntely.

I wish I had a dime for every time we hear one of our recruits described as a "dog". This place had me convinced The Dragon was MKG 2.0 because he locked up some NBA guys in the summer.

I'll figure out who is and isn't a dog when we take our annual "L" in the Champions Classic next season.

“Dog” and “shooters” are words that trigger me now.

I’m pretty confident in Wallace’s toughness and intangibles, but well-noted.

Besides Tschibwe, we were a pretty soft team last year. That can be a bifactor of building a jumpshooting team.

Teams are usually a reflection of their coach in terms of attitude, at least that’s what I’ve heard a million times. In our first year under Cal when Cousins was grinding his elbow into the UL players face and Cal was screaming at the UL players face that Eric Bledsoe was going to kick his *** and Rod Strickland was smoking a black and mild on the bench our players seemed to play with a lot more attitude. Cal three weeks ago said “who cares?” when asked about the UL rivalry with a new coach. 😂 I mean JFC what’s happening.

Fat cat. Dude came here a fighter with something to prove. He’s lost his edge, confused his focus and is reluctant to evolve. BBN is an ornery people who require an ornery coach. That’s how Rupp raised us.

^ Why we love Stoops and his “we don’t take **** off of nobody” attitude.

“…get out of there as soon as possible”.

When media/UK is complaining about businesses not just giving these guys money for NIL…
When there are 8k people actually there for a Wednesday night game in November…
When we’re being prodded to get excited…

Point back to that quote. It doesn’t cause any of these issues but it’s a microcosm of where we are (by choice) at this point.

On one hand, that quote is completely meaningless. On the other hand, it is the perfect encapsulation of the current situation with the BBN. Wallace admitted that UK is a means to an end and he doesn't really care about the results he has here if it gets him to the NBA in a good position. That's probably somewhat true for most high profile kids but it is a bad, bad look to say.

Calipari needs to recruit the hell out of Billy Joe Wildcat. Absolutely nothing about this program is designed to please the common fan. The priorities are all screwed up and ignores the very people that make everything else possible.

The problem isn't really kids who roll thru UK ready for the NBA in "good position".

We have 2 problems. First being the "good condition" was always assumed on our end as being a relatively dominant force at UK which would set them up to be a lottery pick or guaranteed first rounder at the worst. Now, MAYBE being a first rounder or the always ******** "second round guarantee" from a team is more than enough of an excuse to bolt after an often times mediocre time at UK.

Secondly, the kids who appear to come to UK in no rush get corrupted by someone either at home or in the culture in Lexington and determine this is not the place to spend multiple seasons.

What sets UK apart from other elites is that our success is spread over the span of 5 coaches… We hire mercenaries because we’re irrational.

It’s our secret sauce. Lifetime contracts are antithetical to our methodology.

BJW needs to bring pitchforks, torches to the next roundtable forum.

There was a point when we needed Cal and cal needed us. He brought us out of the depths and we will all look back at him fondly for that. That’s why it’s best for him to get out now.
Willy needs to build a Vern's Ark, for those few of us who still have faith amid the massive flooding.
At this point it will resemble a short bus

The current Junior class in Kentucky is as loaded with talent as there has been in quite some time. There are some dudes just as talented - if not more so - as Reed. But I know Cal has already met his quota on homegrown kids for the next 4 years so whatever.

Count me OUT re recruiting in-state kids. Their dreams may as petty and meaningless as “playing basketball for their beloved in-state school and making family and friends proud.” LAME. What about the League, idiots lol
I agree. Having a group of Kentuckians has never worked out well for UK.

NBA! It just means more.

Shew, it's been a big spending week for ole Bern.

Got the Bronco and decided the financially prudent decision would be to book a 7 day in country trip to Italy for me and the kiddos. Oh well. If I've learned anything over the last year is that you have zero idea of what's coming so enjoy life while you can.

We need a Kentucky kid that is like 6'7" with about a 7 foot wingspan. A 3/4 hybrid who can shoot and help Cal out with his spacing issues on offense. Heady basketball player, good student that stays out of trouble and knows his role.

We could give him a little run here and there, if he's hot or helping the team in other ways leave him in. Build his confidence as he develops into a valuable upperclassman who will come up big eventually in March like Miller, Mills, etc.

But, I mean, where in the hell do you find a kid like that?

Surely there’s a next Scott Padgett in the state of Kentucky.
