-It's absurd that the SEC still plays the championship on Sunday rather than Saturday.
-Man, Rupp sure has changed a lot since 2016. They've really done a nice job with it. Good feel. Very vibrant. I guess I am officially an old though as I missed the pep band and thought the incessant music and its volume were a bit much. Also, the banners have taken a backseat due to all of the visual enhancements of the place. They're almost an afterthought it seemed.
All in all, a solid A to the improvements, just some slight nostalgia for *old* Rupp and the traditional college environment. I get it, though.
-Parked at LV Harkness ($30) and just strolled across Main Street and up the escalators right into the arena. That was amazing.
-Two older women sat behind us and one was calling out defenses and matchups like she was Bruiser. It was impressive. Another older woman in a bedazzled Wildcat sweater sat in front of us and had the UGA/UT game on her phone which she was going back and forth with. The old man across the aisle was bad-whistle-in-the-Elite 8 richie level angry at most every call all game.
I love UK basketball fans. Was good to be with them again.
-Have to admit I've sobered up a bit about the team. Defensive regression and dead legs concern me greatly. That said, the team was visibly pretty disengaged most of the game I thought. I believe their intensity level will be where it needs to be starting Saturday.
-Daughter loved everything. 2 football games in the fall and now a March Rupp Arena game, she's officially Big Blue baptized. As we got in the car to drive home, she said she was bored and wanted something to do. I put on the postgame and she was sound asleep before we hit I-64 West out Broadway.
I remember those late night drives home from Lexington. There's just something soothing about the ambient sounds of the Wildcat Wrap Up while winding through the moonlit Bluegrass.
Welcome, little lady.
