- Tony Gwynn. Doesn't hurt that he's my all-time favorite, but I never heard/read one negative word about the guy. About as likeable as it gets.
- I like Peyton way more post-football than I did during his career. I've always hated QB's who show terrible body language when their WR doesn't pull in a pass that was behind/over/ahead of them. Peyton always gave off that vibe.
- I loved the Duke backcourt of Amaker/Dawkins in the mid-80's, so I'm good with them. And while Bobby Hurley doesn't get a pass from me, I'm a big fan of his dad (read "The Miracle of St. Anthony" if you want a great hoops read). But having done a quick glance at the all-time Duke roster, that's it. That's the list.
Also, I had forgotten how many five-stars they've had over the years that never panned out, either on the college or pro level. K really gets a pass for all the "talent" that's gone unrealized during his time there. Shavlik Randolph, I'm looking squarely at you.
- Stayed up to watch MY Kraken get bent again. Man, I had forgotten how lousy it is to be a fan of an expansion team. I'm sure their fortunes will turn around soon, just as they did for my Browns back in the day.
- Rudd, we loved staying at La Fonda in Santa Fe. Highly recommend for location, architecture, all of it.
