Man, to go from not having **** for a few years (other than UK Football, of course), to a possible Super Bowl Champion, and a probable Final Four participant…life is good.
On the postgame, Matt Jones said that he will be sad to see this season end. I feel the same. This is an extremely lovable and fun team. Same thing with our football team this year.

After the misery of COVID and last year's basketball team, things are awesome again.

Now onto a well-deserved *** whipping of Florida in Rupp and Who Dey on Sunday.

Halcyon days. Just like when there was a phone number you could call to check the weather forecast and a cable channel that would cycle through the available real estate ads, imo.

What do you expect Cal to do? Ask the guy to dance right before a big road game? You gonna just throw him out there dancing in front of that crowd? Why would you set a kid up for dancing failure in an environment like that? Look, he's dancing his *** off in practice, really pushing the dance tempo, and taking practice dancing to a whole new level. But Cal is gonna bring him in to dance when the time is right for he and his family. He's got future dancing to consider.

* Read a headline this morning that literally said "Joe Rogan not sorry for apologizing for use of N-word."

lol okay.

The Neil Young thing and the n-word mashup was a story, but we've got about another week or two of media clickbait nonsense. I mean, anything with the name "Joe Rogan" in the title is gonna get a view, and that ridiculous headline is a great example of the stupidity.

By the way, you know who is kinda wishy-washy on this subject, and maybe needs to quit beating around the bush so much?

Our friend David Goggins -->

Don't be afraid to speak your mind, bro.

* Can't get over how consistently we've been able to neutralize the home court advantage in SEC road play. When the Cats travel to Starkville and Tuscaloosa and Gainesville and SEC points in between, it's as if the other team is playing, dare we say, their own "Super Bowl."

- getting off to a hot start
- great d
- hot shooting
- building a safe lead

3 of those things are pretty unique to a lot of Cal teams. It's almost sad and pathetic the way these opposing fanbases ramp up for the Kentucky game all year long, then get **** on immediately when we build an early lead and cruise to a comfortable W.

* Road trip to Arizona this weekend, with a little time in Sedona.

* Here's a sports story that flew under the radar --> a certain 80-something old c-word who serves as Speaker of the House asked US Olympians NOT to protest at the games.

“As I wish the athletes well, I do not encourage them to speak out against the Chinese government there because I fear for their safety if they do,” Pelosi said Friday, hours after the opening ceremony. “[To] remove all doubt about why I said they shouldn’t speak out, it’s because I fear for their safety.”

According to House Speaker [insert gender-based slur], the motto of the Beijing Winter Olympics should be “Faster, Higher, Stronger — and Silent.”

🤮 🤮 🤮

* Our wild card continues to be the 4-spot. When you get big contributions from Toppin and Brooks, this team is almost impossible to beat.

* Two games in a row, Frank Vogel (of UK JV fame) has benched Russ Westbrook in the 4th quarter.

Puppies, krazy.

* Another sports story that flew under the radar: because of the ongoing MLB lockout, the drug policy expired, so the league has discontinued testing baseball players. Cocaine, heroin, PEDs, etc.

🤣

Enjoy the party, fellas.

* Purdue is the team that scares me the most. The 8-footer is skilled and would give Oscar fits. Ivey is absolutely filthy. And the Euro dork is one of the most punchable players in college, who I'm certain would go off on us just because.

Feeling more confident than ever- Dana O’Neill doesn’t trust the SEC or Kentucky.

Amazes me out of all the college basketball wtiters, The Athletic chose two complete hacks in this idiot and Seth Davis as their anchors.

It’s not even the Kentucky thing- Forde and Pete Thamel hate Kentucky and I dislike them but I respect their college basketball knowledge. Davis and O’Neill are garbage,

Write another F’ing piece on Gonzaga, Dana- you’re terrible.

Not sure Joe “used” the N-word. He just was not afraid to say the word when talking about the word.

USC is like Vandy in that opposing fans can always find a seat. Not the most imposing fan base for basketball. They rock it for pig skin, but it’s tepid for basketball. A&M, LSU, and Bama were far more imposing. Arky will be too. Gonna be a war.

- Musselman has to be on the list. The guy has consistently won, knows exactly how to work the portal, can recruit HS kids at a high level, and has the personality/experience to handle a place like Kentucky.

- I've gone from intentionally avoiding the Olympics because of China, the lack of spectators, and the creepy vibe of the whole thing, to completely forgetting they're even taking place. As someone else said in GYERO, this has been a thoroughly college hoops season in general. Watchable games every day of the week, star power, coaches with personality, and more aesthetically-pleasing styles of play than has been the case recently. Just about the only blemish this year has been the officiating. And announcers working remotely. That can get pumped.

- Agree with Chad on O'Neill. The article he linked reminded me how much I hate those columns where two (or more) sportswriters have a "conversation" with each other, like they're just chatting it up over some beers. Get out of here. I don't mind the ones where multiple writers chime in with answers to the same question, but nobody wants to imagine that they're eavesdropping on a conversation between sportswriter dorks.

- "Turns out the only thing that can defeat the virus is poor internal polling numbers."

- Visiting Xavier with the oldest this Saturday. Looking forward to feeling the #PalpableBuzz in the city. Related question...is MainStrasse still worth a visit? Always enjoyed going there with the fam back in the day.

- Cause I’ve had FOUR! 😂

- Washington is the perfect alternative to Wheeler. One’s fire and the other is ice.

- Wheeler will be fine. That said, Cal can’t be timid going to Washington when he’s playing out of control.

- Tschibwe is incredible. Plays his worst half of the year- dickfingers on boards, three turnovers and two fouls- then ends up 18&14. Incredible.

- Toppin is so weird. He seemingly excels when the rest of the team is struggling. Mintz has some of that, too - as noted by The Showkiller with my fifth favorite Rupp quote behind (paraphrasing because I don’t feel like looking them up):

1. (After UK was banned from the tournament in ‘52-53) “I’ll not retire until the president of the NCAA hands me that national championship trophy again.”

2. “When a baby boy is born in Kentucky, his mother naturally wants him to be president of the United States like fellow Kentuckian Abraham Lincoln. If not president, she wants him to play basketball for the University of Kentucky.”

3. (Preseason 1957) “We’ve got some pretty good barnyard fiddlers but we play a Carnegie Hall schedule and we need concert violinist to win these games.”

4. (March 1954 with a 25-0 record when the players voted to play NCAA Tournament after the NCAA disallowed his two leading scorers to play because they were technically grad students) “I’m not going to risk my perfect record with you turds.”

Go to OTR. Park in the garage on Vine & 14th. Grab lunch at a number of different places (Bakersfield, Taste of Belgium, The Eagle, Tafts), get a donut at Holtman, check out the shops, stroll over to Washington Park.

that “made your bed” article from Forde is really kinda crazy when you think about it. Like, the entire tone was so over the top spiteful and borderline inappropriate. Can you imagine that type of article being written about any other Cbb coach? I hope Dana keeps this **** up. Exactly the type of thing cal lives for.

-Speaking of Rupp, Glory Road was on the other night. Love that movie.

-This is the Big Ten's year. Pure cbb fans agree it's time they get their title.

-Hopefully Sharpe gets the feedback he's looking for and fulfills his dream this June.

-Is Saturday the game we get to see those dope *** grey checkerboard unis again?

-February flying by. First, we Valentine's Day.

-Sharpe will play here next year and all of you will be sucking him off.

-I hate the checkerboards more than I hate Ralph Hacker.
