Did Wyvern snort adderall last night or something?

* Javon Baker would look fantastic in anthracite, chrome, and checkerboard, imo. We need at least one more transfer at both WR and CB.

Baker could be a guy in the Kelvin Jospeh / Dare Rosenthal mold who comes here for a year after transferring from an SEC power and heads directly to the NFL. That isn't my favorite niche for us to corner in the market but it certainly is not a bad sales pitch for the future, either -- especially as roster turnover in football is only going to accelerate with the portal and NIL.

* Rick Barnes is 8-7 against UK since Calipari has been here. We also haven't beaten a Top 25 team in a shockingly long time. With our floor general back and Rupp likely to be jumping today, it seems like an excellent day to exorcise some demons.

I'm glad we are tipping at 1 pm instead of noon so hopefully the crowd will be there from the jump and ready to go. This could be the day Rupp Arena gets her groove back and we beat the everlovin' dogshit out of a rival while the Faithful go insane.

In my dreams last night, it went a little something like this:

Jesus- Rupp was electric that night. Love Big Game Rupp. Florida didn’t have a chance.

Damn.

Calipari can be rightfully criticized for a lot, but his embrace of UK tradition and really bringing back Hall and giving him his deserved due over the years was great and you know meant a lot to Hall and his family.

RIP Coach Hall and Cats by 40

Yeah, Cal pumped up Coach Hall at every opportunity. It was really sweet of him to do, and well-deserved.

I don’t remember the city and surrounding environs being this excited for a Bengals game. Not any of the last playoff games, not even the 2005 one.

The Bengals are actually “cool” with Burrow, Chase, etc. This feels weird.
I’m parking on the Ohio Side of the river today. Not gonna cross any bridges on the somber walk back…

Only coach I knew until I was in high school.

It was amazing to watch how likable he was as a public personality after coaching. You could tell that the weight of replacing Rupp was an incredible burden on him while was in that seat for 13 seasons.

RIP Joe B Hall
This news although not unexpected has gutted me. He is the last link to Rupp and the only coach that I knew at UK until he retired. Went to some games when Rupp was there but really have no memory of them.

I vividly remember seeing the report of his retirement the day after the loss to St. John’s in the NCAA tournament in Denver. His retirement crushed me more than any loss up to that point.

Hope he is having a pour with Rupp and watching the *** kicking that the Cats will put on the Vols today.

Burrow endears a special kind of confidence. That said, my concern has grown by the hour.

Yup, he, CM, Ramsey (my grandfather was part of this group) the last of a generation that linked Rupp walking in HS kid’s houses in Kentucky and measuring players with door frames to John Wall.

For 30 years he was basically every Kentucky fan’s grandfather they got to come visit when they made the pilgrimage to Rupp.

RIP, coach…it’s Cal’s responsibility to beat the Vols today, badly.

Ian Noe with a new album coming out and will be in Lexington at The Burl March 25. If you haven’t seen this dude, he’s awesome. I may like him more than Childers.

Speaking of great country music, this is an all-time classic in the unintentional comedy category.

Safe to assume women love this garbage.

Coach Hall never got his due when he was coach. That was probably due as much to his tenure starting about the same time as Crum and Knight so I never remembered him being popular with fans when he was here. In hindsight, we were incredibly lucky he followed Rupp. The legacy that is UK basketball being at or near the top for almost 90 years is due in large part to his 13 years following a legend. UCLA, Indiana, Louisville are more or less irrelevant now because they didn't have the character and steadiness of a Coach Hall.

Most of us weren't around when Joe B was coaching, but I always got the impression he wasn't super popular with the fans. What Calipari did to welcome him back into the program and build his friendship over the years can never be forgotten. His last 15 years of life as the extremely beloved former coach had to be some of his best.

He was more or less a more successful Tubby 20 years earlier- well-liked but maybe underappreciated. Had some awful early NCAA losses. I believe he’s been treated well and beloved since retirement.
