Never said it sucked. But he is in the SEC already and on the right/best side to get to Atlanta if he ever wants that.

We SHOULD be paying him close to what Oklahoma would offer so I don’t think money becomes to the issue here.

Ultimately I would NEVER want to follow in my brothers foot steps and I can’t imagine his bull headed *** would either.

Hope I’m right.

Mark Stoops "only" makes $5 million/year right now. As we've seen with that asshat Mel Tucker, the going rate for elite/highly valued coaches has been pushed up to twice that.

I think Stoops would want to stay here based on two things.....

1> he's got enough talent right now and going forward to reasonably expect to continue winning 8-10 games/year
2> money

So yeah. Mitch has some SERIOUS work to do on #2. We're SEC, so I will lose my everloving **** if we ever get outbid for a coach we want. If he leaves because he just wants to be at a bigger program, then so be it. But Mitch better not be sitting there picking his *** hoping Stoops sticks around because he likes his neighbors and hanging out at Jeff Ruby's and drinking bourbon with Dr Huang.

What was Lincoln Riley making? He was smart enough to get out of there before the move. Smart choice going west to compete with Oregon/UCLA/Utah annually!

Stoops buyout (if he gets hired by another school) is $1.75 mill. That’s an lol. Tip money nowadays.

I guess OU is also one of the few schools that isn’t also going to be hamstrung by having to pay off the last guy they just got rid of. In the words of Will Wade, that means they can really make him a STRONG *** OFFER.

Stoops had one of the best contracts in CFB. It was about as HC friendly as it gets. It's obviously been passed up the last 2 weeks with all the money floating around. But if he leaves it won't be because of money. Hard to blame a guy taking the LSU or Oklahoma jobs. Those teams currently compete for a playoff spot every single year.

Since when has a buyout affected a hire on either side?

Stoops may have had a great contract, but Lincoln Riley was making $7.7 million. Their next coach, if they really want him, will make almost twice as much as what Stoops currently earns.

He had a great contract going into the season, but now that he’s being courted by some of the big boys, his contract is actually a huge bargain for us. And he knows it.

There is no way Oklahoma has double the athletic budget we have.

Just searched, they have $163mm, we have $150mm.

A fair contract for stoops right now based on the market would be at $7-$8mm/year. Michigan st is beyond stupid for giving Tucker his contract.

I’d be desperate and stupid enough to roll with a MOU if it means we keep him, tbh.

I have to think leaving for a place like OU where you immediately get to look at **** kicking in the SEC West in 2 seasons would be dumb, but money I guess.

What exactly can you be thinking if your Mitch? As fans, sure it’s easy to say “pay the man”, but being him how can you justify NOT paying him before he is offered.

Call him into the office, explain you know the field and what’s going on, reasonably what’s it take to shut down the rumor mill right now. This isn’t a blank check per se, but it is a “let us know if we are together, or should we be looking now” type of conversation.

Maybe he should just offer him a lifetime contract like the lazy *** bum basketball coach has. He can stand on the sidelines from here to eternity and scream “GO”. Come to think of it that’s probably not a great idea.

Why? the football team brings in exponentially more revenue than the basketball team does. A great football coach is worth WAY more at UK than a great basketball coach. Because, well, we'll never have a hard time attracting the top basketball coaches.

And, a football coach works harder than a basketball coach. They SHOULD make more money.

I mean Auburn's assistant coaches have more HC experience than the HC. LSU, BAMA and UT have all paid nearly 2mill for assistant coaches. I'm sure others as well.

Once K retires Cal will be making as much as the #4 and #5 highest paid basketball coaches combined. His salary should be irrelevant when discussing Stoops, he’s getting more than his market value.
