If Stoops leaves for money we can’t match, it’s the ultimate indictment of spending money on sports other than men’s basketball and football.

Get those non-revenue teams in screen-printed beefy tees jerseys and have them compete at Shilito park / the Y. We’ll need a UKAD “Great Reset” to show we take things more seriously than all of the other programs in high-major collegiate athletics.

Lincoln Riley and Ryan Day seem quite a bit alike. Walked into a great job when both schools were at their peak. And hate on Harbaugh all you want, but I think there's some truth to his "sometimes people that are standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn’t” comment he made after Michigan's win on Saturday.

What I'm getting at is that 1) I'm not sure that Riley is going to be that good at USC and 2) what Stoops has done is a lot more impressive than what both Day and Riley have done. We should be concerned.

Don’t the Cardinals have the best record in the NFL right now? Seems like they might as well throw Saban on their short list too if that’s really who they wait for.

If he goes to OU, there might be some calls the next few years from Big XII refs as a little “f*ck you” present to OU on the way out that make him turn a shade of magenta we didn’t even know existed

Lol. Have you not paid attention to any of these big time coaching searches? How many times has UT assured us Gruden was coming?

I get LSU being a top job, but their last 3 coaches won a chip and one left and they fired the other 2. All of that is impressive in it's own way.

SEC football is nuts, obviously, but Mullen and Orgeron getting fired for one bad season ought to give Cal's spoiled *** a little perspective on what UK's done for him.

Random thought but it's true.
What I love about them letting O and Mullen go is that the powers that be at those two schools didn’t just look at a bad year, they looked at the trajectory and said this isn’t going to end up in a better place without a change. When you know you know. And I think we know with Cal.

I watched a lot of LSU football the year Les Miles won a championship. Let me tell you something. You, me and half the members on this thread could have called plays for him that year and LSU likely would have had one fewer loss and a championship.

Orgeron was a really bad hire and he still gave them a legendary undefeated season. That’s how good that job is.

Stoops won’t be here forever, and I’m 99% convinced he’ll leave for a better job at some point, whether that’s this year or sometime in the future. For that reason alone, this impending contract extension won’t really mean much. Well up his salary a bunch then he will leave, but I just don’t see us having to fire the guy and get stuck with a huge buyout. Just not gonna happen.

What? Are you comparing Cal to O and Mullen?

Christ, there are bad takes and there is that.

O is not a HC and everyone figured it out at Ole Miss years ago, but he got lucky when Miles had to go and they kept him to keep all the players happy that he recruited. The equivalent of us losing Marrow.

Mullen flat out lost this team and didn’t deserve to be fired, but I think UF saw the writing on the wall more of this is the time to get Kiffen than it was about giving Mullen more time. Disagree or not I think Mullen with a Soph Anthony Richardson was going to be trouble.

Cal before last year is a consistent S16 E8 coach and basketball is a quick fix vs football.

What a stupid post!

I’m not comparing them overall - I’m just comparing Cal’s downward spiral to theirs.

I sure wasn’t. My goodness they are something. Billy Napier, ok then.

Edit: Wayne, point still stands. Basketball is a quick fix and this team as well as next year will prove that.

At a time when the pendulum is shifting toward transfers and upperclassmen winning titles and we were caught after Fox, Monk and Adebayo all left at once, it is what it is.

The year after was a crap class and SGA so overachieved he jumped early too. That caught us off guard.

Cal started bringing in transfers to mix with children and it hasn’t caught. I wish like hell Maxey, Quickley and Richards got a shot before Covid shut down that season.

Regardless, and I’m not a fan of Cal really, I think it’s a tough transition and he picked it up as quick as he could. Especially considering the Lebron influence to Duke.

I don't see Mark going to Oklahoma. I think it's more plausible that big bro Bob comes out of retirement to reclaim his old job. If Mark went there, he'd be in the shadow of big bro too much, and if he didn't work out, it would sully not only his rep but also Bob's stature in Oklahoma.

Klingsbury getting fired by his alma mater Texas Tech and parlaying that into the Arizona Cardinals job and possible candidate is a head scratcher. Oklahoma would be better served getting Venables from Clemson. They like hiring assistants, not retreads from other programs.

Dan Mullen to Duke wouldn't be a terrible hire.

Feast BBQ for lunch today before heading home. The smoked wings and brisket were solid. Even the pickles were excellent.

Kliff moving from his modernist desert palace in AZ to a Bruce Goff designed house in Oklahoma would be dope. Could you imagine???

No, I can't, Joey.

* Waterhead, why are you even blathering about Cal right now? We've looked pretty good this year and we've got an outstanding class coming in next year. Your trajectory as a poster is asymptotically approaching UKO.

* Les Miles and Orgeron's departures from LSU involved allegations/rumors of impropriety with college age girls. People tend to forget that.

* Dan Mullen is going to knock it out of the park at his next job. I'm rooting for Duke to land him so the ACC gets harder for Louisville and they can get a tiny taste of playing in a good conference.

* I currently have my first head cold / mild flu since COVID. I'm fully vaccinated so whatever but I'm hacking up a lung and I'm deeply congested. Started feeling terrible yesterday afternoon. I've got a meeting this afternoon with a bunch of folks I don't normally interact with and I know that at least one is ultra worried about COVID.

What's the play here? No matter how much dayquil I mainline, I'm still going to be noticeably under the weather and I don't have time to go get a COVID test this morning.

-Lincoln Riley getting out of the SEC to go coach in the PAC-12 is one of the best coaching decisions I’ve ever seen.He would be a Citrus Bowl fixture, at best, in the SEC.

-Looking at the schools ahead of us in FB recruiting on rivals Vince should be the #1 paid recruiting coordinator in America. Those schools have prestige, recruiting budget and geographical advantages.

-Merry Mashmas, Vern!

Stoops is far more deserving of a lifetime contract than Cal.

Contextually speaking, he's done more here than Cal, and is trending upward.

False....unless you are just resigned to the acceptance of mediocrity, which many on here are, obviously.

More false....are you forgetting last season? Are you forgetting the 3-3 finish against piss poor teams (outside of UGA) He has had more fubars than successes during his tenure and it isn't close.

One of your more ignorant posts ever and everyone who liked it can hold that candle as well.

Riley’s contract is 10 and $110, allegedly, from someone likely to have some scoop. Not that that’s anything crazy post Mel Tucker. In fact would have guessed a bit higher.

So the no SEC talk is fine and whatnot but that’s a ton of scratch o_O

Shorts:

- My formerly miserable football teams stomping their rivals in the same weekend. 🥰

- How this conversation became a referendum on Calipari is insanity and further proof of what I’ve been saying about this thread. Get it together, you F’ing miserable nutjob pieces of ****. Every time I come here, I hate you more.

- UNC has a cornerback named Storm Duck.

- Never found her remotely attractive before, but that DirecTV Serena Williams/Wonder Woman commercial had me reconsidering for some reason.

- The ultimate indictment of an announcer is his inability to match the excitement of a big moment. Pump me up like Gus or let the crowd do it Jack Buck-style. I have heard too many blase calls.

- Imagine being a Nebraska fan this year, or hell the last 20 years.

- If I’m a big boy, I look hard at PJ Fleck. Dude has charisma.

- I have little for Michigan but have always kinda liked Harbaugh because he’s a complete weirdo. He’s unique. Marches to the beat of his own drummer.

- Bearded Ryan Day is Ohio Guy to a t. Could be a dbag from Dayton rocking a Troy Smith jersey with a group of equally terrible buddies.

- Riley will kill it at USC. It was a great move. He’ll have a Top 3 recruiting class annually, get every elite QB and skill player on the West Coast, and be in the playoff about every year. Now, will that be enough to beat anyone in the playoff? Don’t know but that wasn’t happening at Oklahoma anyway.

- I wouldn’t buy any Oklahoma rumors. That AD is the best in the business. He’ll run it lowkey with no leaks.

As long as they’ve taken at least one vaccine shot that’s effects have completely worn off by now and are totally ineffective against the latest deadly strain they’ll be fine so I wouldn’t worry about a thing Hank.

-I'm a huge Stoop fan, but I'm also not scared to open the job up to see who we can bring in. Different if it was year 1 or 2 of his tenure and stability was an issue, like we've seen in Louisville or UT. Proving we have the resources and patience to win goes a long way.

-Guess the covid uncertainty delayed some coaching changes, so now we're getting double time.

-Serena does like short white dudes, chad. Maybe you can make a run.

-OU and LSU should keeping swinging for the fences. Go find your white(or black/brown) whale, boys.

-Moving from Norman to LA(well in most circumstances, I wouldn't move to that **** hole right now) is justification enough.

-What a fun W on Saturday. Just stole their soul, **** all over their momentum, and mocked them in the process.

-Spent last week with the whole fam in Antigua. Wake up, work out, casually start boozing at lunch, wrestle with 4 kids under 6 for several hours in the pool, dinner, watch sports and drink bourbon, REPEAT. Thankfully we all passed our Rona tests and were allowed back into OUR COUNTRY.

-Levis is that dude. Could have a really special year next season if we can get playmakers around him.

-20% off Ruby gift cards. Always a good deal.

-Good article on boosters if you're on the fence.

-Would like to see more Hopkins, I love that kid. He looked way more fluid last game. Will be an important piece when Oscar is in foul trouble.

-Narcos is just so damn good. Almost done with the most recent season and I'm already scared to finish.

-Mixed in some steep incline walking last week. Don't have a tread or stair machine at the house but may add that into the mix. Legs feel stiff and sluggish since I haven't been running.

-Prefer the Outback Bowl.

-New Home Alone is a dud. I mean G liked it but with a fairly recognizable cast it was pretty bad. Mostly the storyline was pretty whack.

-Time to dry out the body. Mercy, I've consumed a bunch of booze the last 11 days.

I've watched a lot of college football games- none with a worse TV crew than we had on Saturday. The broadcasters, sideline reporter, sloppy production- what an awful display.

I was firmly of the belief that at some point they would move the ball on our defense in the second half, same as mizzou, chatt, florida, hell even vandy. Compounded by the back of my mind thinking "What does Vegas know that we don't." But UL just never offered any resistance on either side of the ball. It wasnt some kind of coaching masterclass or gimmick- just more physical players giving more effort from UK and that was all it took. I took the over but stayed away from the money line. Woudlve been a much more lucrative Christmas, but alas.

Jeff Brohm? I just dont see it. He's a somewhat smart guy, and that sinking ship doesnt seem as enticing as it did a few years ago. Especially now that most of the fan base are life-long Miami and Bellarmine fans.

Im all for paying the coach what he's worth, plus some. But becoming a hostage to a football coach is a dangerous path to walk, especially in the SEC. I'd much rather agree on increases in recruitment finances and facility improvements- rather than a ridiculously long, overvalued contract.

Does MENGUS take callers? Would like to get the Snarky B's on a group call with him today. I have some things to say.

Went with small local biz gift cards for most gifts this year. If you didnt explicitly tell me what you wanted- you get a gift card. Not asking repeatedly for the next 3 weeks. Want to wrap this shopping up soon.
