- It's game week.

- I wasn't there Saturday for the disaster but Railbird was a lot of fun yesterday. Not a big fan of the DMB/jam band style but it was nice to see people cut loose and have a good time.

- Not sure if it's completely mental/voodoo/whatever, but I just sleep so much better with a weighted blanket. I realize this makes me a white woman from 2017 but so be it.

-Been saying some prayers for PTi and everyone in the New Orleans area. Hope you're ok bub. Send out something when you can so we all know you're ok. If you need anything, let us know.

-SO to those who went, was it a Railbird or a Failbird?

-Wife is heading out of town with the kids this weekend for MOL's 60th. I'm skipping for Football. What's everyone getting into this weekend? Anyone want to go out and try to get the Rona?

-Army worms killed 2 neighbors yards in a day. Those son of a bitches are real. Total death and will need to be resoded or tilled up and seeded. In all my years around grass and the maintenance of it yards, I've never seen a bug that could wipe out a yard any faster than these little touchers. Really messing up the hay fields for farms in the region too.

-I loved them when I was kid, and I love them today. Honey Grahams are da bomb. "THE" breakfast of champions.

-Football NIL stuff getting ready to be dropping like crazy.

Shew, down here they just don’t care anymore.

“You’re sick? Who cares come on in!”

“Did you test positive? Oh You haven’t tested yet? Well you’re not technically positive! Get it here and sling some booze!”

“You’re live in GF has Covid but you’re asymptotic? See you at 3 pal!”

Anything to stay open at this point. Even if you go get tested they consider you negative until the results come back so better be at work while waiting on your results. The opposite of how they treated it a year ago. 🤷🏼‍♂️
It takes 15 minutes to get your test results.

Not true. In bullitt county they have run out of instant tests because the testing rates are out of control.

Like I said my son had allergies and they tested because of that.

Then they wanted him registered as a test patient, and we were told we’d be back to NTI because of how many tests are being ran.

Not positives, but tests!

Nice chill weekend at the lake. Feel recharged.

Failbird, good lord the stories I was hearing from Saturday are why I didn’t even consider it. Heard it was better Sunday, but hard pass for me these days. Do love some DMB.

Hoping my bestie Pti stays safe down in Nola. I’m long overdue for another trip down there once the plague and hurricanes go away.

Little man teething. Those little chicklets are sharp.

Second Pfizer on Saturday afternoon. Had no symptoms at all for about 24 hours, then was completely wrecked for about 4 hours, then back to nothing. Weird ****. Official member of the Natural + Fully Vaxxed Elite Immunity Gang.

That uncle I mentioned has recovered, after losing 30 lbs in 18 days.

BIL also currently has COVID and I see him everyday running. Probably trying to prove a point to the rest of the family that vaccines work.

August (month, not west) on the way out... See ya. Return to mid 80's and low humidity later in the week. Thank the Jesus.

Time to ramp up my internal football hype so high that the best outcome imaginable is still a letdown.

Crazy - I had never heard of those things before, but my neighbor directly across the street just had the same thing happen to his yard Saturday night......which is (was) an immaculate yard. Older retired guy who was always out in it making sure it was perfect. Those things literally ate it overnight.

Meanwhile - my yard full of weeds/clover/crab grass is looking pretty good right about now (I have two boys ages 9/14 and see no reason to give a **** about my yard as they tear it all to hell anyway).

But ol’ neighbor is not happy.

I guess I’m a little spoiled from having a wife who’s not only an RN, but also Director of Nursing, oversees lab work, etc. She’s the HBIC (her term, not mine) in her doctor’s office, so all I have to do is pull around to the back of the building, text her, and they come right out with the test. And 15 minutes later, I’m out of there. Had my second test this morning. That swab is brutal.

Those Army worms are down here in South Georgia too. Never even heard of them until about a month ago. They apparently travel well.

One of the best parts of the Piglet era has been locking down the state. Tucker’s interviews with a bunch of HS coaches show it:

“…the way Kentucky recruits is just different. Like, when there’s a guy they want, Vince is there, Stoops is there. Matter of fact, I’ll give you a funny story. This will tell the truth. When Louisville hired — oh, damn, my mind just went blank. What’s the coach’s name? Satterfield. Who I’ve never met, by the way.”

“Petrino pissed everybody off around here when he was at Western, and then he pissed everybody off more when he was at Louisville.”

“Well, if I say that then it’s not going to be anonymous anymore. But I would say Stoops has come personally to the school more, so I’ve had more genuine experiences with Stoops than Satterfield. I think Stoops is really down-to-earth, has kind of embraced the Kentucky way, talks to you about bourbon and things like that. He’s gotten to know us around here.”

So the power is out in the entire city for a while, since the main piece of equipment that connects it all broke and fell into the Mississippi River.

I woke up early to clean storm debris and we have some roof damage but I don’t think it’s bad. All in all we made out okay, but the city is F’d for weeks. Not sure if that satisfies Anthony’s wish or not.

My dad got tested at commonwealth stadium Friday morning and didn't get his results until Saturday.
As someone who grew up in Lexington and lived 40 years in Lexington/Versailles, before moving down here in 2014, I just can’t picture in my mind Covid testing at Commonwealth. How exactly does that work? Are they doing both shots and testing? How big is the medical staff and are there multiple testing stations? Everything down here is done at hospitals and/or doctor offices. I’m assuming it’s different in Atlanta, but I’m not sure.

Music festivals in the summer should just suck it up and allow people to bring in bottled water. It would eliminate like 50% of the complaints.

I think that was the biggest change from Saturday to yesterday... they let everyone bring in their own water. Making everyone bring in an empty container then immediately stand in a huge line to get water when you can just allow unopened bottles is insanity.

*Bryson is an odd bird and brings some criticisms on himself- but the people that relentlessly yell at him on the golf course are absolute losers. Its not even humorous in the least. And anyone that does think that schtick is funny is a loser too. Golf bro is up there on the list of total d-bags who need to catch a smack. Right there with NFL bro or Big Ten Football/Hair gel Nike shox bro. Hopefully the cameras are around when one finally does.

*Generator and water pumps are ready to fire up here, but looks like the hell storm will be tracking northwest of us (hopefully)

*Woke up to a text that a neighbor was taken off his ventilator overnight and passed away shortly after. 47 yrs old, 4 kids (2 under 10). This is probably about the 15th or so person that i've known pretty well thats died- not surprising being in Alabama, I guess.

*Our major football season concern is hospital capacity... with them still being full or close to it- that gets in the way of the dozen or so gameday related hospitalizations we typically have. Ranging from alcohol poisoning to older folks collapsing from heat stroke- there are a lot of transports- now there is no good way to really treat and monitor people that need it. Only so many EMT's available, nobody wants to work a yellow-jacket security job, Students and fans are about to go balls to the wall wild since last year was a meh-atmosphere... I mean worst case scenario could be a real **** show.

*White Lotus fizzled out, imo

*Watched my BHM Legion beat Louisville FC over the weekend. Suck it, Louisville.

It’s not really at the stadium anymore - there’s a lot on the road running behind the stadium where they’re doing it. I had to do it last week. There were a billion people doing the same thing, but it went relatively quickly. Got my results the next morning.

Railbird Day 2 was a vast improvement. Enjoyed seeing DMB although it was a consolidated playlist.

Holy **** was Saturday horrible, howeva. I don't know how an event could poorly prepare to such staggering levels for something, especially when tickets were bought in advance. So you know how many people were gonna be attending this thing. Greed or incompetence, take your pick. It was bad.

Monday Shorts:

- Normally, I’m a surly Monday hater but today I am fresh and alive, because we are on the last few paces of the fire bridge that is August and ahead is the greatest third of the year.

September-December is like an old Kanye album - banger after banger. Start of football season, September/October are probably the two best weather months of the year in these parts, Halloween, college basketball, Thanksgiving, Christmas.

- Speaking of, Donda is fine background music, very listenable like coffee house jazz is listenable, but there isn’t a jam on the record. This isn’t “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.”

- And my gawd does college football kick off strong. Some bigtime games this weekend.

- My little girl turns one in 9 days. Can’t believe it. She is so fun and full of life. She’s loud as hell, often just screaming with joy for minutes. She’s curious, loves to laugh and I look forward to seeing her every morning and every day after work.

- If you often use the term “alpha” I can almost guarantee you’re awful.

- Glad Cantlay won yesterday. Or DeChambeau would have been great too. Actually, I was rooting pretty hard for all 70. Was great seeing one guy win but pretty tough watching the other 69 lose. Maybe they all can win the next one. 🙏🏻

- Man, I have turned into a (bigger) p-word since my daughter’s birth. I just can’t watch sad **** like the NatGeo 9/11 doc without becoming a complete sap. Tough to believe it’s been 20 years.

- … which means it’s also been 20 years since I was a student at UK. 😕 Incredible.

- I’ll be damned- since Richie’s 5 GYERO rants about it, I have certainly noticed “one hundred percent” being used a lot more often- mostly podcasters.

- Before you all even get started, Laura Rutledge is overrated.

- Who’s not overrated? The chick who played the daughter in “White Lotus.” 🔥

- Out of those I’m close with, the two biggest anti-COVID vaxxers I know are a very overweight 52-year-old who doesn’t exercise at all and another buddy who’s been smoking since he was 12, also could lose 30 lbs and doesn’t exercise. Both great friends but stubborn MFers. Worry about them every day.

Person I know here in Louisville had a friend who had a appendicitis last week and was in major pain. He tries to get into the ER but no avail because the unvaxxed masses have taken all of the beds.

My wife is working until 7:00 most evenings and she worked this past Saturday until 3:00. This **** is real. Healthcare systems are being overrun unlike the 1st strain.

Unless you have pre the existing conditions where your physician says you shouldn’t be vaccinated GET VACCINATED.

Hey WCC... congrats on your daughter almost turning one. If you need help with a FB status update for her birthday, here's the intro of a whopper I just saw on the old timeline you can perhaps use a model:

"To be honest I never really wanted a girl. I couldn't picture myself as a girl mom. Maybe I couldn't get passed my own securities of not being enough that I was fearful I wouldn't be good enough of a "girl mom". I thought having all boys would be more fun, less expectations.... Rowdy and wild was not only accepted, but expected. I never liked the limits society puts on girls, and frankly, didn't want to deal that as a mom."

Summer festivals are just not my thing anymore. DMB at the Gorge this weekend, completely different than a festival. 3 nights of shows and they have 2 opening acts each night. Plus during the day you chill on the Columbia River and not bake in the sun. Festival setlists typically suck as well, artist usually play a condensed set of the popular stuff most will know.

In true GYEROMAN fashion (Brady excluded) , flying First Class nonstop from Raleigh to Seattle.

This is wild. Saw some of the game yesterday flipping channels- I’m no Ohio HS football expert but definitely didn’t recognize the name “Bishop Sycamore”. But hey, great publicity for your unknown D-I prospects and program!

Do the adults in charge just think "Bishop" sounds cool because it's obviously not a Catholic school named after a real Bishop.

*I'm too old to attend music festivals anymore. Just don't like being in those crowds. Going to one in the dead of center seems like hell on Earth.

*Showkiller and I with a solid showing at the member guest this weekend. Lost our first match, while another team routed teams in their first two matches. Came back and won by 1/2 a point. Got stroked out on 18 to finish second overall, but it was a damn fun weekend, as always.

*I know a couple of unvaccinated people that have recently, and currently, have Covid. One was hospitalized for over a week and just got released. The other is in ICU in Nashville right now. And it's only going to get significantly worse for the unvaccinated over the next month or so.

*At this point, I simply consider you a moron if you don't get vaccinated and are eligible to do so. You won't change my mind on that, just like I won't change your conspiracy theory addled mind about taking it.

Lots of young kids are going to be without a mom or dad because they "trusted their immune system", "did their own research", "they developed the vaccine too fast", "God is my vaccine", "my body my choice", "I'm not getting injected with microchips", "I just bought some ivermectin at Tractor Supply", etc...

*I know reddit confuses you guys, and the comments in the sub are incredibly harsh, but if you want to put a face with what this is really doing to unvaccinated people, take a look at /hermancainaward, or simply go on facebook and search posts for "covid prayers ventilator" and see just how many posts there are.

*When I said I didn't give a **** if the unvaxxed lived or died, I retract that statement. It's all really just sad.

*Nurse friend of mine said that Owensboro had 300 people in the ER on Friday. I'm sure that's not all Covid, but it's definitely by far the majority.
