I've been over Pitino hate since 2012. I think he's the best college coach of our era, and he brought UK back from DEATH during the best Fan Era of my lifetime, which will never be repeated. And he loves UK, and never misses a chance to speak fondly of us, or his time here.

It seemed like he realized what he gave up when he went to the memorial. He knows he could have stayed at UK and won multiple titles and he would be eulogized just like Keightley was. He had the air of a man full of regret.

He was the coach during my formative years and crushed it here. I’m good with him. Also, Pitino basketball camp was as close as I’ve been to Heaven so there’s that. The guy gave me a signed ball in front of everyone for winning the hotshot championship, I was in awe. Get over it boys, he’s a HUGE part of our history.

Well in the spirit of unpopular opinions in Gyero, I generally don’t have the ability to separate a person’s morals/ethics from their professional abilities/success as a barometer of my approval of them.

I hero worshiped Pitino and was heartbroken when he left for the pros. Then when he took the Louisville job, he was dead to me. I don’t care how good a coach he is, he is a cheater, both in his personal life and in sports and actually if you are cheating, how good at your job are you really?

It serves him right if he regretted leaving UK, and it might actually have saved us from another scandal in the long run. Cheaters gonna cheat when the going gets tough. I hope he loses every game he ever coaches forever.

Don’t get me wrong I wanted him to lose every game while he was at UL, and I will forever think he is a selfish SOB, but I was able to put that behind me and be grateful for what he did here.

I don't think you need numbers. March is ultimately about scoring, guards, and big runs.

Teams get hot, and they aren't equipped to "keep up" when that happens, by nature of their style.

They just happened to have the perfect team with 2 vet studs out front with Jerome/Guy, and a Lotto pick on the wing in Hunter, and a perfect college big/Eraser in the middle with Diakite...and a nice supporting cast around them.

They were the best team imo, got some breaks, and then capitalized on them - in a pretty (historically?) weak year for CBB.

I mean, they were 35-3, 16-2 in the ACC. And they just had to beat Purdue in the E8 (miracle), short-handed Auburn in the F4 (lucky + clutch) and then Texas F Tech for the Natty, so...we basically agree.
