some of them genuinely thought their life was in danger and they blame him completely.
Congress’ collective realization (in the moment) of things becoming actually dangerous reminded me of the “Real Bullets” scene in “Three Amigos.” (Their culturally appropriated costumes, dance, and song are a metaphor for current state of American political buffoonery.)

You can use that absolutely perfect analogy on RealTime, but please give credit to me. TIA

Some schools were doing that pre-COVID. My brother is a sophomore and I remember him getting an NTI booklet for snow days when he was in elementary school.

The booklet wasn't in line with what they were currently learning and only took like an hour to complete but it kept them from having to make up the day at the end of the year.

I’m all for no snow days. They’re a pain in the ***. Plus I never got them as a kid so screw them kids.
Went to a small school in Paducah that didn't have buses. Every time it snowed, all the surrounding county schools were closed. But nope, not my school.

Until....

One particular snow day, the dean of students (who was responsible for the snow-day determination) slipped in the parking lot and broke his arm while making sure kids weren't smoking the dope in their cars. We had a lot more snow days after that (un)fortunate event.

Man...there is not a feeling today that equates to waking up, peaking out the window, seeing that beautiful white blanket of snow, quickly turning on the TV, counting down the familiar counties that come before yours, then back to sleep with the quickness. Not surprised THE MAN wants to take that feeling away from our children.

Only thing that probably comes close is waking up every single morning and mounting your wife on every piece of furniture in the house.

MrsDrum says it's a good deal in the grand scheme of things. They get a little work in, can still go out and play and enjoy the snow. I don't think Anth will need his buffalo hat and Thor tattoos. But I join him in railing against it in principle.

That small church affiliated school had the most dope smoking per capita of any school around. IMO.

Rack Mashburned for once - you don’t need to be a human dad to be irate about canceling snow days. What a joke.

And Lmaooo about counting down the counties - was Especially true out in the state when you were way down the list.

I will add that the night BEFORE cancel scroll was even more exciting - **** was ON when your county made that one.

The anticipation of a snow day as a kid is up there with the magic tingle of Christmas morning. The payoff was gold. We didn’t get a lot of them in fayette county, was almost exclusively announced the morning of.

I remember like 92 or 93 we were off like 2 weeks. It was unreal. We had a tunnel system fort built in the yard that w would've made Joey proud. Had to put 40 hours into it.

Not looking for that but a couple random snow days is one I'm willing to suck it up for the benefit of the kiddo.

I guess if they're going to give them an hour of work to keep them from making up at the end of year... that's alright. But I'm looking for something to be offended about.

Listen to cawood on the call as UK played in Oxford while playing nerf hoop in my room. Peak out window to see if it’s snowing during game. Peak out at least 5 times an hour while watching Carson then Letterman and replay of UK /Ole Miss game delayed with Rob Bromley. Wake up and see Fayette is closed. Call buddies and set up a smear the ***** football game in the snow. Realize sometime during the day it’s Friday and no school until Monday.

I've seen this SAE one other time and it was after the UL game in 2014. Just him and BBdk rolling around in the beer vendor ice in the middle of the street. No f*cks given and assaulting all UL fans. Good for him, he's happy and doing his end zone celebration.

So tired of Alabama that I’m considering rooting for Ohio State tonight. Would be nice if this sport actually had more than 3 programs.

I know LSU but that was lightning in a bottle.

Going to private school and not getting snow days and then growing up and finding out I wasn’t better than everyone else just because of where I went to HS really adds to my bad attitude to be honest

I’ve one experience with these two in all their glory. Definitely my favorite versions of them.

Estill County can diaf as they always had snow days and always were right before Fayette. No way they got a good education in that county.

Another awesome snow day was the one that happened after you already got there. Looking out the window first period and seeing those flurries... "no way they can keep us through lunch!"

This reminds me of one of my favorite days at school, in 3rd grade. We had a family that moved to town, from Texas, and they had never seen snow. 3 boys, 2 girls. Anyway, it starts snowing one day early in the morning and the teachers let their entire family go out and play in it. We all watched from the windows in awe at their excitement.

Edit: actually 4 boys. @Bill Derington knows who I’m talking about

Wayne, you know how it is. Each of us had the best snow accumulations growing up.

Heck, during that storm back then, my 9 year old self estimated it to be at least 16 or 17 feet.

Ha!

Pretty sure there were rainy days when the School Tracker would pop up with one county...Estill.

Surprised they didn’t cancel school for good after the nuclear dump site was discovered across the street from the schools.

Hank, why are you always up so early?

So I figure this is a good a place as any to come clean on how badly I misunderstood the lyrics to “jingle bells” for like — 40 plus years

it’s apparently NOT a “one horse sloping sleigh”
(In my defense I never studied sleigh design and “sloping sleigh “ DOES sound reasonable...

but I just never got around to asking anyone else about the bizarre practice of tying bells to bobcats - always assumed it was an old Germanic practice....ie....”BELLS ON BOBCATS RING”...

and finally- the lyric that mildly creeped me out for decades ....right after the tortured bobcat bit ...”MAKING SPIRITS RISE”....

i seriously just corrected my loud and errant singing on those three lines - LAST F’KING YEAR AND THIS CHRISTMAS-

dont laugh though

y’all know you’re probably butchering songs elsewhere as well

hope you GYERO-ites run face first into a truly terrific and slightly weird 2021

Woodford is the last county in the state alphabetically. Waiting through the entire list was torture.

Got a
Buddy there now - Versailles kid that’s former army ranger and state patrolman ....he happens to also be comparably ADHDish as I am

Yet he’s fully medicated

PS - after twenty years of marriage my lovely Georgia bride finally approached me and asked how she can “obtain marijuana “ - for medicinal purposes

****
It’s gonna be a
Weird year man

:)
