"After last year people came up to me and said, 'George, how do you do it? What's your secret?'" Blanda wrote for SI. "Word got out that I had a special diet, that I didn't drink or smoke. One 'insider' said that I was taking hormones, and that was why I was able to play so many games at my ripe old age. Well, there is no secret. My special diet consists of the same things I've been eating ever since I grew up: steak and potatoes and green vegetables. I smoke and I drink. The worst five years of my 21 as a pro were the five when I didn't smoke at all. Now I've gone back to cigarettes, a pack or two a day, although I don't inhale them. As for alcohol, I enjoy bourbon -- it's part of my University of Kentucky background -- but I don't guzzle it down like water. I sip it, and I limit myself to two or three drinks. You may see old George Blanda acting stupid, but you won't see him acting drunk!"

Wife just said, “you’re drunk” - damned right. Went old school Miller Lite for the first time since a pre-Covid February trip to Denver and then celebratory bourbon(z). BBN is fine when the team isn’t good but BUILDING toward good. I’m really proud of them right now. They’ve met adversity- first time in their basketball lives for many- and responded a bit, staying close as a team. Not easy at 18-21. Long way to go but adding a swiss army knife 4-man with a competent backcourt, interesting array inside and upside trio of wings, and all a sudden, you got something.

New season. LFG. wcc on board.

The fact I’m watching Brady in the playoffs right now is INSANITY. I recall this very weekend in 2002- I had just graduated from UK a month before, was back in Lex to watch my buddy’s band play at Pazzo’s. One of our friends was in town - Rhode Island native and huge Pats fan. Remember him going nuts watching the snow falling and Tuck Rule Game as New England beat the Raiders on the second floor.

I barely remember who I was back then. Couldn’t be any different than I am now.

Was 19 years ago. Unbelievable.

Count me in!

I'm truly happy for this bunch. It's great to see all of the hard work begin to pay off. And I love the enthusiasm on and off the court. They're truly happy for one another.

We have a long way to go but if we pass and defend like that, we'll be just fine.

One of my good buddy’s son was born during that game. Watched it from the waiting room. That kid graduated HS a year and a half ago!

But the best news of all for today: Players & coaches kneeling before the game has led Marc Maggard to proclaim that he's officially done with being a UK basketball fan. He's outraged that "his" university allowed it to happen.

Haha, where's this posted at?

Ha, have that one teed up in my arsenal when some bandwagon buckeye relatives start crying about the calls last year against Clemson in the semifinals.

The Good: As much complaining as I, we, BBN has done about Cal one thing you have to say is he never lost this team, no one checked out, and that in itself is a hell of an accomplishment. It’s amazing what a shooter (after those first two Florida scrambled all night to find Allen) and an adult (Brooks) can make. Brooks knows how to throw an entry pass, can finish through contact and they all look to him when things break down. A couple ingredients sure can make a cake rise.

The Bad: 1-6 is still on Cal and some of his decisions put us behind the 8 ball. Would be a shame is this team grinds out 12 conference wins and gets left out of the dance.

The Ugly: Cal’s kids rushing to troll BBN now that we are on a little run. Look, I don’t care about Twitter spats I just think it’s tone deaf and a bad look. The relationship has been strained this year, why not enjoy a few wins quietly?

- Finally got to finish Mandalorian. Not sure which Jedi that was supposed to be but I’m sure it won’t be hard to find out.

- Not sure how you guys throw “sex” out there like it’s some big anniversary feature or special occasion. We get it in every morning like PTI runs, it’s just what we do. 1/17 marks 14 years of marriage, too.

- Cal being forced to play Allen is possibly my 2nd most favorite thing of his era. Obviously the ‘ship in 2012 is #1.

- Man I hope the Titans can go one more time as an underdog, but everything about this game tells me we lose. Lower seed as a favorite and ALL the money on Tennessee, and we’ll I’m just settling for pregame disappointment.

Might end up betting Baltimore ala BBdK, to ease to blow.

- Learned how to make my own McGriddles.

- I don’t care too much about the jabs thrown at me here, you’ve all proven to be pretty damn honorable people in real life.

But that UKRob73 man, wow, dude thinks about your all’s man parts and who he’d blow, can’t use a ladder, and leaches off his wife’s father.......am I right here?

But I’m the retard. Gotta love it!

- UK Football is just sick! Worship.

- Mom has be cremated, but we chose to do the gravesite ceremony once the headstone is in. When offered to bring home the ashes I got creeped TF out.

People do that for real? Shew, naturally my step dad wanted them and keeps in his room.

I love her dearly but that’s just not for me.

So today on Twitter I responded to Bomani Jones question about do people care about the national title game tomorrow saying in the South they do bc college football is king even over the NFL in that region. He somehow turns this into a TWO AMERICAS and DIVINENESS issue and his followers start calling me a racist bc I prefer college athletics over pro.

I’m also trying to explain to some woke ***** that I personally have no problem with the team kneeling but I also understand the point of view of veterans that may be offended. This somehow turns into OH YOU MUST ALSO BE OK WITH EXTREMISTS STORMING THE CAPITOL.

I can’t take it anymore. I suppose we’re all about inclusiveness unless you disagree and then you’re a racist Trump loving blow hard.

Those sick morons who stormed the Capitol should spend life in prison. I also that believe that the act of anyone... black, white, Indian, or from Mars, that destroys public or private property like the riots that took place this past summer is disgusting and hideous.

They literally let them inside the Capitol.

Should be a good final round in Maui tonight. JT getting some grief for calling himself a f*ggot after missing a putt last night. At least he's not getting the Thom treatment..
