The last time Georgia Tech witnessed basketball this bad from somebody associated with the University of Kentucky was when a young BeaveUKGT played intramural hoops there in 1994.

Sheesh.

Just got an email from the GT athletic association gloating about the big win today - and then of course asking for a $$ donation.

The nerve of those @ssholes.

Edit: By the way, I think I get emails from the athletic association by mistake, because I share the same name as a former GT football player.

I miss 12 years ago when Tubby/BCG sucked so bad and I could turn on a video game and make us as good as I wanted which helped me a lot. Not I’m just pissed, and have no release as I have too much to do all the time to spend much time playing video games.

I don’t want to see a whole season of this ****!

Where are the OG’s of GYERO tonight? Come on guys, you know who you are.
Quite frankly, it’s hard to reheat the same takes. I think Max even made the comment that he would just be cutting and pasting his complaints from last year.

Which makes it all the more frustrating that the coach who was once a trailblazer is making comments like “they went small and spread us out and it confused us” or whatever. That’s a tone deaf quote for an 80 year old juco coach much less someone at the wheel of the most prestigious program in the game. I hope it’s just a sound bite he is giving to the media but losses from Evansville to tonight suggest it’s not, he either doesn’t get it or doesn’t want to get it.

We may be in the Jordan/Wizards phase of Cal. I hope not, as many have pointed out there are plenty of elite coaches who have shifted gears and revitalized their careers. But Cal shows zero self reflection. He continues to hire old pals and yes men on his staff when all of our issues are issues that have plagued the program since the title year (acknowledging we’ve still had a ton of success).

We just got thumped by Richmond, a hapless scandal ridden Kansas, and a winless Georgia Tech. You have to really be sunshine pumping to see much in this group. Not sure what to say but here ya go.

Just don't understand, I get we missed on Cade, but how can we start the year with Askew as the man? And double down on that? He has talent in there, enough smart minds have said it, but trial by fire isn't the way for all these dudes. He's years, not weeks, off. Why not start the year with Clarke and Mintz(or a differnt transfer) and bring Askew along slowly? Cal had to know how far behind he is.

Just don't get it. Can a dude not earn his position anymore? For all the "this isn't for everyone" ********, he sure guarantees a lot of slack for certain players.

Anyway, I'd roll:

Mintz
Clarke
Boston
Jackson
Sarr

As much as possible. For all the begging, Allen looked awful. Ware and Toppin are lost but at least spark plug when they go in. Bring Askew off the bench. Did Fletcher even play tonight?

<------- 100% rooting for Calipari to fake a back injury, sit this year out, take a few months of R&R down in the Caribbean, and come back in July with a tan and looking as not stressed as a lassie at Keeneland on the first Saturday of Fall Meet.

Cook up a story about watching poor kids play playground ball in San Juan and realizing that GET THIS FOLKS -- BASKETBALL IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN! WOW! THIS JOB IS A DREAM COME TRUE! Pal around with some obscure coach who is running a new variant of a 4 or 5 out offense and talk about how it changed his perspective on college basketball. See if Karl Anthony-Towns has any cousins while he's down there. Do some PR charity work and be a servant-leader.

The works.

Cal is super lucky that Rupp attendance is limited.

He is too oblivious to understand that the boos would be for him and not the players.

I felt the same, but I will say that every foul I remember of his has been so weak that it has to play a factor, and IIRC, He had foul problems at Wake too?

I’ll add that when we made our run to get it to 45-42 it was with Mintz, Askew, Boston, Clark and Jackson.

So Cal can say they stumped us by going small, but that lineup went on a 8-0 run in like 3 minutes then I don’t remember seeing that lineup again.

Jackson is pretty awesome coming in for weakside blocks but he and Sarr are turnstiles on the ball, shockingly bad.

Again, they probably shouldn’t be playing a lot together...same with EJ and Nick last year.

We made GaTech’s inside game look like those Hayes/Daniels front courts with the passing and the cutting and the dunking and laying up and whatnot

Looking forward to Cal's tweet after his 24 hours of grieving. Should put us all in a better mind frame.

Hopefully, he told them to sleep on the bus ride back and they practiced this am already. This hole is gonna be a ***** to climb out of this year. Sucks when you root for your team to just sneak in the tourney and not completely embarrass us, and that's a best case scenario.

Build a team looking ahead to 2022 and make a run with DaJaun Wagner Jr.

We will look at some film this week and correct some things. You know the film doesn’t lie.

Nothing is saving us unless Brooks comes back and has suddenly transformed into Mashburn 2.0

Cats barely scored 81 against Morehead.

There were some very wack takes after that game.

He at least has some bodies this year. If you are just going to give up easy baskets in the half court then you might as well go full court press and get some easy baskets yourself.

Cal’s recruiting has also turned into the equivalent of having 5 late first round pics as opposed to having two top-5 pics. I’m not sure why this is happening though; his track record for putting guys at the top of the draft is unmatche
Might have something to do with an outdated offensive philosophy and a raving lunatic roaming the sidelines screaming at players while they try and play ball.

Honest question, when did the GOOOOOOOO Psycho Cal emerge? I first remember it circa 2017, maybe a handful of games during the 2014 doldrums before that run, but now I'm not sure if it was there earlier and I just missed it.

Many have downplayed it in here for years now - but it absolutely as an effect. Can't imagine how brutal it is for the guys in an empty gym.

It's hard to do damn near anything if someone is having a screaming meltdown in your ear the entire time.

We don't "GOOOO" anywhere, except down the court to run a dribble weave 35 feet out for a bit before we drive into the teeth of the defense to force some ********, so I remain confused what he's even yelling about.

--Sarr got abused yesterday, but he's a proven good player at this level. He has to tighten **** up BIG TIME, but FOH with Fletcher taking his minutes. The entire team being a complete clustertouch certainly does the Center no favors.

-Cal spent the entire preseason talking about Askew is a scorer and has to change his game -- and now the guy won't even LOOK at the rim unless the shot clock is expiring. He's bad, really bad. But, when you aren't able to take a shot, it makes taking care of the ball a whole lot harder. His role needs to be redefined COMPLETELY, and that starts with him looking to score a bit, imo. He's clearly not a playmaker, so if he's gonna gobble 30 minutes a game, how about we utilize his strengths (I use that very loosely) at least a little bit. It's 4 vs 5 when he's out there in terms of keeping defenders honest.

Everything sucks IMO but the short term stopgap (while Keion is still out) is:

CAM-RON at the 4 and Jackson at the 5.

It needs to happen because Sarr is a poosay and doesn't fight -- and this team, if nothing else, needs to fight right now (or refuse to lose lol).

The early offensive struggles or whatever have always been frustrating but it's not exactly unexpected with a new roster. The defense (and rebounding) has to at least be there to convert easy points. We're not good enough offensively to stand and watch Sarr dickfinger **** in the post and get beat for rebounds, straight line drives, and 50/50's. This team has to find *something* to reference. And at the end of the day if a long athletic team full of good kids can't figure out how to provide energy and a sense of urgency on the defensive side of the ball --- then WTF are we doing here?

Of course Cal won't ever pull the trigger on something like this for reasons listed the last several years -- but this is the best short-term thing that would stop the bleeding.

-The basketball team just sucks. Short of Brooks transforming into an AA and Boston coming around I'm not sure what you do. If Askew continues to run the point, we're going to be really bad. If Clarke didn't catch fire for about 5 minutes yesterday we would've lost by 30. Too many "ifs" for us to be just decent. That margin of success just blows. IMO, the GTech loss is probably the worse since Vandy blowout in BCG days. I guess Evansville last year gets some votes.

-A girl I went to 4-8th grade with lost both her kids in that PCB accident. 4 and 6 years old. Not even sure what you do at that point. We weren't close other than being in the same classes but the family was about the nicest people on the planet. Absolute nightmare.

-Gran was the ultimate nice guy coach but I think it was the right call. Props for how it was handled and making the move. Firing a friend is never fun. Recruiting WRs shouldn't have been that hard with the QBs we have waiting. Not to mention the offense this year cost us 3 games. Hell the 2 decent games we won were due to defensive scoring. Give me young up and comer. We've got plenty of experience on the sidelines.

-Rodgers got his first sack Saturday night.

-At this point we're just slogging through and clicking off days. Very little desire to stop and smell the roses. Just get us to May or whatever the timeline is going to be.

-Hit the pavement for the first time in a couple years. Really been missing it. No lower back issues so maybe I can handle a few runs per week. Worked hard to strengthen that area since it was ****** up.

-Drive-Thru Xmas at work sucks. Here's your bonus and a chicken biscuit. 😖Typically we have it catered, sit around all morning watching Christmas Vacation, employee's grandma makes dozens of sweets, bourbon balls, cupcakes, and cookies.

-Crab cakes for dinner. WaF.

Another "hold those you love tight" post.

I was an unfortunate witness to my friends wife falling down her stairs on Saturday night. I'll spare the details, but she didn't survive her fall.

She leaves behind an 18 month old boy that was absolutely in love with his mom and a husband that adored her.

With the snap of a finger our lives can change in unfathomable ways.
