Sad state of affairs for college football these days. Sport is limping to the finish line. Greatly looking forward to next September.

Has anyone explained how bowls are working or projected us to a particular bowl? Didn't a bunch of them cancel?

I wouldn't be all that upset if we announced for a bowl, took all the practice time, and then the bowl was cancelled the week of.

I wonder how many seniors return. Almost all of them would be gravy for next year, with the possible exception of Terry Wilson just because it would further clog up the QB race.

I just hope Phil Hoskins comes back for his 7th year of eligibility. That would be hilariously awesome and a nice counterpoint to the endless turnover of the basketball squad.

-expected to beat: ole miss and missou. Figured Auburn was a toss up.

-in hindsight...should have beaten ole miss. Missou doesn't suck. The touchdown screwjob at auburn changed the complexion of the game...and possibly the season.

-uk only beat teams they were *much* better than...lost all the "equal" games and got manhandled by the 3 that were supposed to beat them.

-overall, im content. Not a good year but not a disaster either. Also, 2020 or whatever.

11 have been cancelled already with a few more likely. Think they’re down to 30?

If you're a player with a potential Sunday career, why play in an even more meaningless bowl game than years past? You don't get to spend a week enjoying the location, nightlife and general hoopla that traditionally comes with the bid and you're likely playing in an empty stadium all for a $500 Belk gift card.

Could easily see some schools declining the invite and use the veerus as the reason (B1G).

So how they determine who's invited and if those games are actually played appears to be a flip of the coin.

I have no issue for seniors with an NFL future opting out of the bowl game. But I would assume the young get guys would want to play. Especially if Louisville is our opponent.

No regrets for this season. Yes, there were plenty of bang-my-head-against-the-table-moments, and we left at least one win out there, but the fact is in this godforsaken year, we kept our chins up, found a way to nut up and play every game (one of the few teams in the country to do so), turned in a win in Knoxville that was as satisfying as any in my recent lifetime, and finished with a respectable record.

Will be fun to see what guys come back for a fifth/sixth year. Was pumped (no GYERO) to already see the news that D Robinson is coming back.

Rodriguez is going to be a monster next year. Bit nervous about who will be blocking for him tho.

I do wonder if Stoops is letting go of Gran not because of Gran’s performance but because he finally realized Gran is a round peg to Stoops’ square hole. They will just never be on the same page. It probably would be best for the program to bring in an O coordinator with a power-running-first philosophy who is adept at setting up the play action. We are never going to wing the ball around as long as Stoops is here, so might as well bring in someone who will actually be allowed to run his full offense in a manner that suits Stoops.

Last night was a just a great evening for Terry to end his career with us. Happy for him and all the seniors. Now, I do really hope that he graciously steps away and allows Gatewood/Allen to get all the snaps during the bowl practices. There is literally, and even figuratively, zero reason for Terry to take another snap for us, whether in practice or the bowl game. The future is now.

Happy St. Nick’s Day all.

I assume after Gatewood never moved from in front of the turbo heater last night that Terry is done.

So our projections are:

Liberty Bowl vs West Virginia
Music City vs Wisconsin
Texas Bowl vs Oklahoma St

Those all sound fun. Let's do it.

I may be in the minority on this but I really don’t have much desire to play a ****** UL team in a bowl. Sure we probably kick their *** and that’s always enjoyable but I’d much rather play somebody different like a Wis or WVU.

It was nice seeing Paschal with a good game last night.

Wish IU was an option. I really miss that rivalry.

I always thought Gran being in his position was more about Stoops possibly leaving and Gran taking over. If he goes, then I assume Stoops really is here for good, and I welcome that!

I know some here get redass because we don’t look like BAMA, or even organized sometimes, but I am happy where we are with recruiting and know the more our floor stays consistently 7-6 or 8-5, that it will lead to those 10 win seasons and eventually pop into a possible SEC East division winner. Eventually!

I really don’t want that game to happen.

There is only one good thing that happens (Stoops dominates Brown) and this is very unlikely. Literally everything else sucks for Stoops and UK -- especially after this year which sort of sucked but isn't as bad in retrospect as it was in the moment given the bizarre circumstances.

I hate that matchup.

You too scared to never lose? That’s what makes a rivalry.

We have the coaches and players to make it good, and I’d personally love that.

Also, they are without the player that made them what they are, so yea I’d take my shot.

We’ve had a ****** passing attack for all of Stoops’ 8 seasons. I hope he knows of a solid coordinator already interested in the gig because I wonder how attractive this job is at the moment.

Attractive? If you have any ability at all then this should be a no brainer.

You have a coach that can recruit, a team known for running it, a solid Oline, and a defense that more often than not holds up and makes up for some mistakes.

If all you have to do is figure out a scheme to not mess that up, and produce better passing production with a damn good QB battle already in place.......then my guess is we get someone good!

Counterpoint, and slightly playing devil’s advocate, if you’re a proven OC, you’d have to be concerned about what Stoops is going to allow you to do. And if you’re an up and comer, you don’t want this to be where you’re trajectory gets stalled.

I think Stoops being anti-forward pass is a tad overblown. We passed plenty with Barker for 6 quarters and Stephen Johnson. The lack of passing in the last 3 years has way more to do with injuries and personnel, imo. I have no doubt Stoops prefers ball control and all that, but he isn't a moron. You have to be able to throw the ball to win games these days.

Having said that, I'm torn on the Gran firing. He's proven himself capable at adapting the offense in the wake of catastrophic injuries. We've had a lot of success as a team with him as OC. But the sword has to fall on someone, I guess. We were flat out awful on that side of the ball this year. And if it saves our recruiting class and development of young guys already here, then someone has to take the fall.

Good luck to Gran/Hinshaw. I'm nervous but optimistic about what a changing of the guard will mean. Go Cats.
