I attended my first full mass Catholic wedding in my early 20s, and seriously couldn't believe it - I mean, I had no idea. Brutal.

When you pregame a little & then think you're 15 minutes or so away from throwing down w/ buddies & having a good time...and then are hit w/ a 2 hour delay. That is not a good feeling.

My cousin married a Campbell County Catholic girl. Our family is pure non-denom, and even though the priest did a "Catholic-lite" ceremony for us, boy did we look like a bunch of dumbasses trying to figure out when to stand/do the sign of the cross/etc. A mess.

Not as big a mess as me when I moved to Lexington and wondered why people were walking around with dirt on their foreheads. On Ash Wednesday. I grew up with Willy's people everywhere, what can I say.

Church sucks ***, honestly.

::nodding::

As I've gotten older and married, I'd kind of like to get back into church a bit just for the community and service projects. But I'm not sure there is any way whatsoever that I can sit through a Sunday sermon at this point.

And if there's Sunday school (or whatever it is called for adults) beforehand, just kill me now.

This golf course is absolutely incredible - good lord.

Golf trip?

Payne's Valley isn't included on any of the packages they offer, but can be added for $235 per player. It is definitely a unique spot, especially with 2 world class par 3 courses as well.

First time I attended a Christian Mass I was like why are all these people smiling and happy? Reminded me of "It's a Small World" Ride.

"Be sad, sing sad songs, head down, kneel until bones aches!! What's wrong with you people?"

On Eagles Wings was the happiest **** we sang. That was a real treat.

-I follow King Llama on social media -- that's my church.

-As PretzelSloot mentioned, for a non catholic it's just extremely weird and awkward...especially your first.

Gary Player also has a 13 hole mountain-top track. Just seems like an overall incredible place, with tons more to offer outside of golf.

Get that casino in there, and I'm ready.

Theo Von came across as a bit of a dummy on "Road Rules" so I have a hard time believing that he's funny. I could be wrong, but I don't care to challenge my gut feeling with hard evidence because that's for VHS Beta Cucks.

Also, 90% of every wedding ceremony should consist of asking "Are you sure?" over and over again.

Was in a Vietnamese Catholic wedding in Texas. Full Catholic wedding/mass/etc in English... then turn around and do the whole thing again in Vietnamese. That was something.

If you want some anti-woke comedy, check out any Stanhope special. For my money, I'll take Popov Presents: An Evening with Doug Stanhope. He decided to start claiming that Popov vodka sponsored him in the hope that they actually would after he lied about it. They sent him a cease and desist and he did the special in their honor and dared them to sue him.

And it gets better from there.
Saw Stanhope maybe 10 or 15 years ago at some place in Louisville that I didn't even know existed. It wasn't even a comedy show, he just riffed for about an hour and it was incredible. All I remember is a story about him getting to **** Ginger Lynn.

My wife's entire family are full on Texas Baptists. They must have been in complete dismay at our full Catholic wedding (she converted). Then completely blown away by the dope *** liquor fueled reception. A good time was had by all. Still talked about on their side to this day.

On the flip side when we were still dating I went to her sister's Baptist wedding. Short wedding cool but the reception was ummm...... Where is the music? What is this finger food ********? I want a meal. Where is the dancing? Where is the booze!?!? They got divorced a few years in.

At UK I tried to date this chick who turned out to be a Jesus freak. Met her in a large group hang out around the dorms and literally the moment we were alone this conversation happened:

Have you been saved?

Saved?

By Jesus.

I mean I'm Catholic so I'm good.....

Not to one to give up just yet I got invited to some Christian youth party(??) where everyone listened to music I had never heard in my life and raised their arms up swaying and ****. I had never felt more out of place before in my life. Good bunch of peeps tho. Played with them in a church league a couple years later.

wizard, I grew up in church/youth group, went to a Christian undergrad (same as Chumps, IIRC I graduated with his sister), and still go to a big church, and I'm profoundly uncomfortable with anything resembling hands in the air/swaying to CCM.

If worship music is aimed at the Creator of the Universe, listen, it better be good music instead of the weird "daddy God" movement happening in Christian music rn.

I used to go to Sunday School when I was a kid. Loved it; was full of smokeshows. Then we moved and started going to a different church. Homeliest group of girls you've ever seen. I told my parents I was out after week 2. Haven't really been back to church since.

Easter of 90-91ish is the last time I've been in a church (non weddings). Mom wasn't thrilled but to her credit she did let me make my own decisions and think for myself on the religion topic.

She's still not thrilled about it 30 yrs later.

My wedding was in a Catholic Church, but without mass. That was non negotiable. About 30 minutes start to finish, really not bad.

Scatter my ashes at crab island. I expect a full on Rager followed by a nice steak dinner.

I was in college when I had my first real experience at a non Catholic church. I went with my then gf and her family to their place of worship one beautiful Sunday morning. It was called the Dwarf Church of God. It was located in Combs or Hazard, I believe. I was disappointed there were no little people as the name would suggest.

I experienced severe culture shock. People talking in tongues, fire and brimstone, bass guitar and drums, the preacher basically condemning me to a fiery death for being Catholic. I was part amused, part skeptical and part scared.

I went many more times that next year. Her Mom was very involved in the church. I will tell you this, there is not a nicer group of people than that congregation. Most of them did not have much, and what they did have they would give to you in a heartbeat.

I love St. Columban, where I belong now. It is a pretty large Catholic church here in Loveland. Great school. Huge festival. Giant fish fry. Those of you who attended my wedding have been there.

While I didn't share some of the beliefs at the Dwarf Church of God, part of me misses that small community and the fact that everybody knows everybody.

I think I would enjoy KL's service.

The only time my brother and I went to Sunday School was when my old man was feeling randy. That’s the only explanation I could come up with as a kid because it was always hit or miss when we went.

Re Catholic Mass/Wedding/Funeral rituals. Always a challenge for those non-Catholics on when to sit, neal, stand. Granddaughter goes to St.Mary’s and has participated in Mass at school, which I went to. Was always a second behind everyone else. Finally her grandmother told me not to worry about it and just chill, nobody would care. Best way to handle that, obviously.

That said, the pageantry of it all is pretty neat.

I've left strict instructions for the baked potato bar following my funeral when I fall down the basement stairs. Full spread.

@ me for tips. Grilled mushrooms and onions, chives and more than one type of cheese are a must. People like to make choices.

You know I’m tired of? Llama calling himself a “failed comedian”. Buddy, you are an absolutely hilarious friend and make all of us laugh daily with your wit and candor. The word comedian doesn’t have to be associated with having standup specials on Netflix or a sitcom on abc or being the lead writer for an awards show. You ARE A SUCCESSFUL COMEDIAN because you bring so much joy and laughter to hundreds of people’s lives every single day. Thank you.
