I cleaned the pool every morning before I was charged. Continued to do so after, and that old lady didn’t smoke but she reminded me of my granny and couldnt find anyone willing to do it for $7 an hour from 8-10am 5 days a week so I did it and never took the paychecks.

I lived on Pennsylvania Ct while my roommate rushed with the SAE’s. I thought I knew partying until I saw sorority sluts chugging hooch, my goodness.

Then the frat would send people to clean the mess the next day! Unreal.

It was also unoriginal. I preferred being more creative with pledges, and at the same time providing tasks that made them better young men.


“Go with your whole class to a matinee showing of “Spice World” and give me a 5 page paper on what the Soice Girls mean to you” was an inspired one.

Is SAE the frat that hosts derby days? Our junior year my roommate (who some of you know who now owns the paddock) for some weird *** reason decided to “rush” for a month for some frat and decided we would be hosting the derby days party at our house on oldham court. Of course he forgot one small detail in that he didn’t tell any of us about it that lived there, like not even a hint. I came home from the library at about 9PM in complete bewilderment to the massive 500 person house party happening at my house. An Asian kid took his shirt off and tried to fight me as I entered because I wasn’t part of the fraternity.

Good times. Gooooooid times.

- I always hated the 3am wake up call to “Go to White Castle. Get 8 ketchup packets, 5 mustard packets, and 1 cup of BBQ dipping sauce. You have 30 minutes to complete this task. Click.” What I didn’t know at the time was that the actives we’re slowly cooking up a huge batch of nasty, spoiled condiments in a huge trash can to use during Hell Week. I can still remember the smell of the “garbage angels” I had to make.

- I imagine the small lot on Pennsylvania could fetch a nice Airbnb price if need be. Also could be a cool rental property if legal to do so.

- I think I’ve mentioned it here before, but a head-on jet-ski collision helped me get just enough petty cash to not be forced into work during the summers of ‘97 and ‘98 in Lexington.

1. Wake up.
2. Go to class until about 1:00.*
3. Workout*
4. Head to Chinoe pool for 2-3 hours.
5. Walk to Winn-Dixie.
6. Buy items for cookout.
7. Have people over.*
8. ???
9. Repeat

Lass was one of the first bartenders Erick hired when he initially bought in and owned it with Scott; Mike bought Scott out not long after.

Seems pretty likely, pretty much lived there every weekend. Haven't been back in some time so not sure if they're still there, but our crew was in quite a few of the pictures on the walls back then.

When we rented on Penn Ct we paid the university rent so that makes sense. One of the stipulations was we had to be in school. I was the smartest dumbass in the world so I asked if that included summer school too because I planned to be gone by the following summer, and we had a 1 yr lease.

They could evict if not in school, and an eviction meant no return deposit.

Sloot, I think Nate is in ATL and works for a company that does the stage rigging on concert cruises. Pre-Covid.

Terry could very well still be in HH, would not surprise me at all. His country *** down there was a sight.

We for sure know you then. We lived above Two Keys next to Subway as well....that was shortly before Paddock IIRC...then @Ron Mehico moved away and me and another buddy moved to Bridle Creek for a couple of years. We're semi-frienda with Pita Pit guys then as well...lol, paid off at night after a long evening at bars.

Lol... I rented a block of beach houses with my entire class after high school graduation. The first night down there we were leaning against the 2nd floor deck railing when it collapsed. I fell one story and was bruised up pretty bad, but basically fine. My buddy next to me, however, landed on the sidewalk and fractured his skull.

A couple weeks later, I get a call from the insurance company representing the home owner. The lady on the other end was "just calling to check up on me and see if there was anything they could do". 18-year old Wayne D sheepishly told them that it ruined my vacation, and if they could send me the $200 bucks that was my portion of the vacation rental, well, that would be tremendous.

Insurance lady: "So you're telling me if we give you $200 we're all set?"
Stupid dipshit Wayne D: "Uh, yeah"
Insurance lady (immediately after I said yeah): Done!

I then went and told my dad what happened. He basically grabbed me by the shoulders and gave me the Harry Dunne to Lloyd Christmas, "do you realize what you've done?" line. He told me I could have probably asked for $10K and had my first couple years of college spending money wrapped up. I've been thinking about what might have been ever since.

Yea, my parents tried too, but after all my troubles they didn’t see the good it was doing.

I don’t really blame them, well I do kinda blame my dad, but that was the wake up call I needed to quit depending on them and go get it(legit this time).

20 yrs old, 20 years ago, man those were the days!

-one if lifes lessons...you dont owe anyone(especially cops and insurance types) answers "right now". They can wait...if they act like they can't they are not looking out for your best interests and should be considered hostile.

I too enjoyed summers and fraternity life, probably did it better than most. Lifeguarding/pool manager at Spring Lake was a dream. I’m sure waiting tables in HH over the summer was awesome, but summer school and nights at the Keys and Uclub were nothing to sneeze at.

I got my three years in at crab island, with a boat, and a sick condo. I’ll take that anyday and twice on sundays.

Krazy...man, you have earned that name.

CSC, the lake is calling.

No doubt. Ol’ buddy that eventually shut it down and headed back to Miami (name is escaping me now) used to hook lass up all the time while she was on shift next door. I still am bummed out we no longer have one anywhere in Lexington.

Friday randoms...

- I had some good friends that lived on Penn Ct circa 2001, I actually think I might remember krazy. Did you ever have a situation with a shattered toilet?

- I also had a buddy that lived in that apartment above Two Keys/subway. We would run up to his place to toke up.

- spent the summer after graduation on HHI. Did landscape jobs, helped my buddy with music gigs, picked up a couple of random bussing shifts at Steamers. Mostly I smoked pot, drank massive quantities of booze, and bummed around the beach. That was a great summer.

- a guy I played rugby with was one of the early investors with The Paddock. He didnt last long though.

- painted pretty much the whole house this week

- I love tomato season

- got the son his first baseball glove, can't wait to give it to him

- no plans for the weekend, sweet

- rewatched the Bourne Trilogy this week
