If true, this is like the least shocking thing ever.

https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/nec...id-19-transmission-study-finds-183034882.html

The most secure mask, an N95, led to a droplet transmission of below 0.1 percent. But handmade cotton and polypropylene masks, some of which were made from apron material, also proved effective, with droplet transmission ranging from 0.1 percent to 0.4 percent. One mask, which was knitted, released a higher number of droplets, from 0.1 percent to 0.6 percent. But none of the masks compared with the neck fleece, which had 110 percent droplet transmission (10 percent higher than not wearing a mask).

The corners being cut is by the Fed Gov paying for millions of vaccines to be in production while the trials are going on even if they're not proven effective yet. Operation Warp Speed. So Moderna, (RNA Vaccine) is in stage 3 yet they're being paid to produce millions of vials already. Oxford is in the final phase and also part of OWS.

Moderna producing a "vaccine" is kinda hilarious I mean would you be willing to take a vaccine produced by these guys? They have been around for almost 10 years and have successfully brought a total of ZERO drugs to market.

But yeah, the Moderna CEO told Trump he could develop a vaccine by the end of the summer, when everyone else in the room who has produced a million other drugs in today's market said it couldn't happen until end of the year, early next year at best...

But yeah, can't wait to see how many people are willing to take a vaccine that was developed with an incredible amount of corners cut to get it to market.

Luckily, there are some in the industry that are developing treatments in tandem with vaccines. One of my clients is doing that today...

^ We definitely understood your position on Moderna when you posted this a month ago. But thanks for the follow-up just in case anybody still gave a ****...

Moderna...LOL. Been around for 10 years and hasn't been able to being a single drug to market, but now is being touted as a saviour when it comes to COVID?

There is a reason why the stock price is "soaring" today at a whopping 7%.

There are others out there that are actually doing a better job on the vaccine/treatment front than this company. Good news is needed, but not from these guys.

I guarantee you covid is about as deadly as choking to death on food, ham especially. Do you have any idea how many people choke on ham and die. Eating ham is a death sentence for some people.

I can't believe I have to reply to this, but since you're dumber than a box of ****, I guess I'll have to explain words to you like you're a GD infant.

Hopefully, in addition to a vaccine, we can make some real progress on treatments that’ll take this from a death sentence for some people, to meh I feel like *** but it’s not so bad.

To date, there have been approximately 163,000 Covid deaths in the United States. Since you're a drooling halfwit, I'll even concede your soon to be posted argument that 90% ARE FAKE LIBRAL SPIRACY. That still leaves 16,300 Covid deaths. By any f*cking definition in the world, 16,300 people constitutes SOME people.

What exactly is your problem with my post? That I hoped we'd make progress on some treatments and get a vaccine?

I realize New Zealand is an island country of only 5 million people however they’ve gone 100 days without a new Covid case. Completely shut down earlier, made everyone coming into the country be quarantined for 2 weeks and they have everything back running as normal while keeping a cautious approach.

My drive home included multiple cop cars roaring by me to a traffic accident ahead. One of those involved in said accident was in the middle of the road waving a hatchet in the air. I assume it was in protest over mask requirements.

I'll tell you who was one of the unspoken MVP's of the Olympics --> Rudd's Jauguar.

That fine classic roadster briskly, yet safely, hauled five drunk asses safely home from The Nation at an even-keeled 95 mph down the Watterson, all while belting out the sweet, soothing dulcet tones of Motorhead's 'Ace of Spades' album.

Yet y'all keep bring it up like it is some silver bullet...the pollyanna runs deep and strong with many of you.
Who said it was a silver bullet? From what I've read we've never successfully used this vaccine technology. Also, I have no clue if we'll ever have one OR if we'll even need one.

* Why in the world is our governor "recommending" start dates to schools? Either do a written executive order and let it get litigated or don't. And what is he prattling on about every day for an hour? Who is watching that? And what is the purpose? Whatever he says isn't an order and he isn't announcing anything that could not have been put in a bullet-pointed press release.

I have no idea what we are even doing any more or what the purpose is. This is five months in and nothing has changed other than that every day we get new mandates from on high that everyone has to scramble to react to.

Just an insane way to run a country and Commonwealth.

* My dog absolutely goes insane about going to doggy daycare. I mean berserk with excitement. For a dog that is normally as chill as a cucumber, it is fun to watch.

* I'm efforting getting myself get pumped for this weekend's UFC card. Stipe v. Cormier 3 looks awesome.

He makes the recommendation and the district that weren’t already starting late can make their decision. I assume our district will follow his recommendation but the private schools might not. Which is kinda the problem with everything- the willy nilly scattershot way everything is being addressed; let’s hold of on schools but reopen the bars, some kids need to stay home but can play sports with kids who are going back in school, one sibling is going to school 5 days a week but his older sibling only 2 1/2, etc.

I mean ideally it’d be nice to have some sort of consistent messaging/leadership from high up but lol nope whatevs GO TEAM

Andy and the teacher’s union never had the intention of sending kids to school and they won’t go in September, either. The writing was on the wall the day he started citing positive children tests from Texas.

School is the same as college sports. As long as we are looking at positive cases as a barometer and testing the hell out of everyone none of these things are happening outside (a) a vaccine or (b) a proven treatment that everyone agrees is effective. Because we aren’t waiting out a virus that spread from one person bit by a bat around the entire world in 5 months just by holding our breath for 30 days (or longer).

The song and dance all summer about starting school dates and procedures for in person classes, surveying the parents, etc. was all window dressing. They should have just come out and said it months ago...it would have pissed people off but at least given them time to prepare.

Hopefully wcc doesn’t come scold me for this post but this has been frustrating for parents to say the least. I’ll acknowledge that decisions aren’t easy but the timeline and logic has been maddening.

Pretty much. The same folks that were all in support of executive orders last week are curiously super offended this week. Vice versa. Go figure.

Regardless, to cut schools, and push back 6 weeks:rolleyes:, this late in the game is ridiculous. Assuming it had more to do with not enough teachers willing to return and less to do with curbing spread.

Schools all across the country and world are currently open and in class.

Spot on.

What you aren't hearing from our illustrious liberal leaders is that this year's flu season is going to hit kids hard, maybe harder than it usually does....which tragically results in more deaths and hospitalizations than CV19 will come close to for this age group. The usual anti-vaccine parental ignorance is unlikely to change.

Told my wife as soon as Fayette County basically ignored their survey results and went full NTI that there was no way my youngest would see the inside of a classroom this fall. How things will magically be better at the end of September is beyond me. It's dumb and arbitrary and infuriating.

And if GD baseball - which the Governor's son plays - is allowed to go full-bore, but BIG TIME YOUTH SOCCER is cancelled, there's gonna be (probably not much) hell to pay.

Well, well, well... maybe ol' Anth wasn't crazy after all. Glad you all started paying attention. If it makes you feel any better KY has one of the worst reporting setups in the country and the numbers he's using are completely f*cked.

When he started reading off child cases every single day this was obvious. You just knew it was coming.

But hey, bars back to 50%. Yay!!

So have teachers officially turned in their "hero" cards? Or are they going to gaslight everyone into thinking they are literally braver than active duty soldiers?

* Neighborhood/micro schools might be the only good thing to come out of this, actually. Institutional/multi-thousand student government schools are a necessary evil right now, not the gold standard

Small sample size I guess but the (communist liberal flag burning) public school teachers I know from my kids schools are all pretty uniformly pissed about starting late and asking the district to ignore the governor. Even the ones who were a little nervous about starting. I get a real sense of “let’s just get started and get it over with” from them.

You probably aren’t hearing that because in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s their flu season now - and the flu season has “basically disappeared” because all of the COVID mitigation efforts have wiped it out.

My small sample size has a few that are relieved at this news. Most ready to come back.

But there's a really vocal minority that aren't on board, for whatever reason, and they have a bat phone to Frankfort. Sounds like they didn't have enough teachers to cover and he's not willing to use the line businesses were forced to use April(when we really didn't know what was going on), "sorry you're scared, come to work, and if you don't you're not eligible for unemployment."

UCL may be able to correct me but I think LEX had 70% of parents vote to return to school.
