This will get me nowhere, but I am doing it anyway....
I did shoot 84 with (and I acknowledge this) one mulligan on 13. Thats a long par 5 and I topped the drive and didn't feel like playing it after a 35 yard tee shot. I still bogeyed the hole on the second drive, but if you want to take a stroke and distance and say 86, fine. The point is still the same.
The course was brutally hard but not set up like it is for majors...the two dudes I played with play it often and said the greens weren't as fast as usual (due to rain) and it is about 600 yards shorter from the white tees we played (they only have three sets, black, white and yellow). What makes the course really difficult is if you miss the fairway and I hit 10 of 14. Had I not, I would have shot much higher.
With that said, when I play well (which isn't every time), I am a pretty decent golfer. I hit it very far for a weekend golfer (average probably 270, but if I poke it can get up to 285) and am good around the greens. I can't putt for ****, which keeps me averaging in the low 80s instead of high 70s, but when I drive the ball well, I can play with anyone that isn't really good. I drove the ball as well as I ever have and hit some great irons and knocked in a couple of big putts...hence the score. I fully believe that if I played the tips, with the rough all the way up (especially around the green) and the greens at full capacity, I would struggle to break 100. But the course as I played it, playing VERY well for me, and I shot 84 (with said mulligan).
I fully don't expect folks to believe it and that is fine. The two dudes I played with can vouch for me, but no one will care. I played it up on the show for entertainment sake and will continue to because its great content. Making fun of me is good radio, especially when the audience gets into it, which they have.
UKO still sucks and I definitely did NOT approve the black olives on the tacos
