I have no actual interest in soccer or baseball, but I do find both of them to be soothing to have on in the background during the summer. And right now, I'll take a good World's Strongest Man's competition, sumo wrestling*, and Kiana's Flex Appeal like some good old school early morning ESPN.

*Takanohana, ftw. Akebono sucked.

I went to a European soccer game a couple years ago (two rivals in the Netherlands) and it was an interesting experience compared to traditional US sports.
  • Nobody's moving around at all while the game is play. Everybody's just standing up watching the game and of course doing the cheers. Since there are literally no breaks, no one is getting up to go to the restroom or buy a beer. That felt odd, but not surprising I guess.
  • They completely segregate the fans of the other team, as in they're buying tickets to a separate section and they can't get into the home section - it's walled off. In fact, when we were standing in line to get in the game, some random fans for the visiting team looked at us and (nicely) questioned if we were going to the right place. Sure enough we were not.
  • It was a night game, and the the field was darker than an SEC West arena. It was almost like a high school football game. And this was for Rotterdam's biggest team, Feyenoord, which has a nice stadium that seats 51K people. So it's just like they didn't want to invest in lights or something.
  • Mad rush to the restrooms at half just like at a football game, but very orderly, clean, and respectful, even among the drunks. I left my empty beer on a shelf above the urinal and people looked at me like I had committed a felony, so I went back and threw it in the trash. I assume this was more of a Netherlands thing than a soccer thing, but I liked it.
  • It was cool to go to the game and know that in two hours you'd be out of there.
Overall I'd give the in person experience a soccer a B+. If they had better lights and a guy walking around selling beer I'd move it to an A.

George Carlin said that soccer is not a sport because the ball has dots on it and you can’t touch it with your hands. I’ll take his word for it.

I grew up playing every sport not named soccer or tennis. We made fun of soccer players simply to bust balls. We made fun of our friends who played soccer, we made fun of our friends who played tennis, we made fun of our black friends, we made fun of gay friends. We made fun of friends whose mom slept around, we made fun of kids whose parents bought them everything. It was just part of life.
Then the PC culture started and that stuff wasn't allowed. Gyero used to be the only place that stuff still existed. But some of you damn sure want to change it. It's not for everybody, thankfully it isn't mandatory.
I don't care how old catsfanbgky is, he is terrible. He is going to continue to get made fun of for that, if he isn't ok with that he needs to stop posting.
Anybody that takes gyero too serious needs to move on.

Let's be clear here: in no way am I saying "US hard core soccer fan" doesn't deserve and need to be mocked and ridiculed. Those losers get pissed off soccer isn't taken more seriously or followed by casual sports fan, but then when casual sports fan does take an interest these guys act like they're not qualified to have a take on the sport. Insufferable pricks... plus they all look like these guys and have probably never been laid (to people of the opposite sex at least).

If you told me Wayne was 73 years old, a deacon at his Southern Baptist Church in Oneida, married to his high school sweetheart, was retired from the electric company, worked part time at Ace Hardware, had a large stamp collection, enjoyed gardening, still owned a rotary phone, and was a grandfather of 8 beautiful children — I would believe you.

If Wayne’s point was that it would be ideal that your wife would be both a smoke show and not act like an attention seeking voyeruristic ***** then I agree. If Wayne’s point was that DJ shouldn’t be marrried to that *** above then I vehemently disagree.

Correct on the first point, Ron. DJ strikes me as a guy who doesn’t really care about that so good for him.

I mean, it’s not like she’s charging for an onlyfans page.

Good for DJ. Next level smoke, unreal.

*Soccer sucks, but it’s a sport. Pretty stupid to argue otherwise, IMO.

*Paulina’s *** and titties are good for the game. #growthegame.

*Played golf today and DVR’d the match. Really pleased with that decision so I could fast forward through the endless commercials and ********.

*Looking forward to Tiger and Phil, but already rolling my eyes at the fake chirping and Manning and Brady can eat my *******. Never liked either of them and I wish they could both lose. Praying like hell they both hit it poorly enough to embarrass themselves.

Wayne, that's a great take. It's people like you who built this country. Your home, your family, the hard work you've put into what I assume is an immaculate yard. You've earned it all. Great job.

Brought back so many good memories watching all those games with my parents and friends. Will never see anything like that again.
