So glad Juzang reclassified, so he could hurry up and waste that first year a bit early.
I mean recruiting is cut off, can't practice, what else is Cal doing besides checking in with his guys, taking their temperature, and telling them sweet lies about starting next year? Once in awhile I wish we actually had the scuzzy, underhanded used car salesman everyone seems to think this guy is instead of Mr. Rogers.
And don't forget those MFers stole all of Gandolfini's valuables in his hotel room after his fatal heart attack.

Bristol, what exactly should Cal have done? The kid got plenty of clock.
Should Kentucky have not recruited other good players at his position this year? I'm sorry Clark and Boston, I know you are top 5 players, but we don't want to hurt Johnny Juzang's feelings.
His Dad never wanted him to come here. He'll go to Gonzaga and come off the bench for them.
I liked him. I wished he would've stayed, I think he will be a stud as a Jr and Sr. But touch him. This is on him, not Cal, IMO.
Here's to Askew hopefully breaking the streak of West Coast kids not sticking at Kentucky. The scene out there is just its own weird thing, going back decades (just finished reading "Raw Recruits" for the second time, which goes into detail on SoCal hoops). It's amazing that any kids from there last longer than a year or two at a school east of the Pac-12. It's just hard for them to break free.
NYC used to be the same way, but that city's HS hoop scene has taken a massive hit, so it's not quite the same. So many of those kids bolt for prep schools in New England or Florida, so they've already adjusted a bit.

I don't care whose fault it is - it's effing tiresome.
If we have a full roster of 12 capable scholarship players next year, I'll totally agree with you. There's absolutely no reason for Cal to go into another year with less than 12.
Quickley?, Montgomery?, Brooks, Boston, Clarke, Fletcher, Ware, Jackson, Askew, Allen...
If we lose Quickley or Montgomery we're currently at 9 with no injuries.

Oh, I'm always pissed about Cal not using more of his available slots. That is a whole different issue.
The players transferring when they don't get instant superstardom sucks, but it is a nationwide problem. It isn't a Coach Cal problem.

"He got recruited over" is probably the stupidest thing I've ever read. Every single coach should be trying to "recruit over" every player they have.

I agree with that. Transferring overall is worse, and if the problem was that he was buried on the roster I'd be more content with it.

Dom Hawkins and Derek Willis going to be the last four year players we have under the Fat Wop? They were pretty cool.
In a way, I hope the NBA drops the one year rule so Calipari can drop the ******** and actually recruit and coach guys rather than this dog and pony show of letting decent guys come try to show off for the NBA for a year and then leave when their dreams aren't real.
Didn’t JJ have some real mature quotes early in the year when he wasn’t getting clock about waiting his time and everyone has a different path? Disappointing, I was never convinced Baker would be a meaningful player but JJ is going to go somewhere good and be a legit contributor for 3 years.

EDIT: It has also been a looooong time since John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, MKG, Anthony Davis, etc. This model is broke. If Calipari is an innovator, now would be a damn good time to start.

Can't say it's Cal's "fault" without knowing more, but when you market your program as the best/fastest way to NBA riches, and a kid doesn't see himself on that track after a year, then this will happen. Especially when the kid is 2,000 miles from home and his family wants him back.
He backed off Green because his dad is psycho. He wasn't going to wait around on Christopher because he could land Boston and Clarke. Juzang was a late add because we missed on Edwards/Hampton.

Yes, one of my pet peeves is that the 10 million dollar man can't be bothered to deal with a psycho dad. High school coaches making a 1400 dollar annual stipend deal with psycho dads.
Telling me that Juzang was plan C after we lost a player to Tom Crean doesn't make me feel better about it.

It's really good but it's going to pull on Dad's heart strings. Very creative though.
Individually Juzang transferring makes total sense. And he's still just the latest example of good players that Calipari can't keep and develop.
Not sure how you're processing things but that is true.
It pisses me off because good 2-4 year players are making the biggest impact in college basketball right now, not freshman. We got him for the former, and lost him for the latter. That sucks.

It does suck, but this was obviously happening the entire time. He was a late add because we missed on two guys ahead. I just don't get all the outrage at "the 10 million dollar man"(it's actually 8 million but we know facts are optional with Bristol's ilk) considering Coaches aren't allowed to talk to players about basketball right now. He also finally lands 2 top 5 guys, the other criticisms, but they're not able to deal with a player leaving. Nor can they even acknowledge this is the first year transfers will like not have to sit out and we already have over 400 in the portal. Just like O&D was originally just a UK thing, now it's wide spread. Kids aren't going to sit and wait anymore.
If you're just going to throw out ridiculously inaccurate statements I'm going to call you out on it. (aimed at Bristol)

I haven't looked at every roster, but I'm not sure we've had 12 scholarship players at any time under Cal.
If this is the year for that, then I'd also bet we will see a ton more 3's and probably throw in quite a bit of zone. Maybe press 94 feet.

See this is a fair criticism, allowing us to get down to 8 players 2 of the last 3 years is BS.
