My dad is an electrical inspector and, from what he says, there won't be any left in a few years. No new blood. It looks like a good gig from what I can tell. I mean, he lives in Pike County and has as much work as he wants and spends the rest of his time golfing.

Not sure who he works for, but I can't imagine a more ******, less fulfilling job that being an inspector for the city/state. Well, other than maybe being a meter maid or working at the DMV/Count Clerk's office.

Many municipalities here farm their inspections out to a third party independent source. One stop shops that handle everything. Speeds things up tremendously in municipalities that have them. The municipalities with traditional systems are super slow mainly because they are labor short. The private firms pay more. Shocking stuff, I know.

I can think of other places as well.

Went to the beach again today with a crew of 25 that showed up. Volleyball, frisbee, football, just a good old day on the water.

Had a lady from the Miami new times(?), took pics of us playing volleyball and I’m sure she’ll have the title, “ Millennials in key west are the problem.” Whatevs

Dude nobody GAF about your little beach adventures with 25 of your gay buddies. You are trying way too GD hard. well maybe we would care if possibly you got caught in a rip tide and got swept out out 3 miles. If that happens, if possible, please post about it. Well that would not be possible, but maybe wear a Go Pro so we could watch it. I mean we are in a world disaster right now and all you can do is post about your fake *** beach life that is about 20% accurate to what you portray.

I think there’s a similar need for AEC specification writers. At my old firm, we were looking for one for years and it basically got to the point of looking around the room and asking how much it would take for any of us to do it full time. Just an awful, tedious, thankless aspect of the industry.

False.

it’s easy, you can be inspector for multiple municipalities...make bank-bennies & be the king **** for every construction project.

* Started off the morning by doing a drive-thru COVID test at our downtown facility. Imagine taking one of those really skinny coffee/stir straws and sticking it up your nose until it pokes your brain, then doing the other nostril next. Not pleasant, but I managed to survive.

Lass and I have both shown some symptoms, but mine are probably worse -- fatigue, runny nose, sneezing, lightheaded, coughing.....nothing severe, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if one or both of us had it. In fact, I truly think MOST will get it, particularly in hot spot areas like the one in which we live. Up to this point it's been all good, though. Locked down at the house for the most part.

* There's definitely going to be some religious zealot martyrs out there when this thing is all said and done...

“I’m going to address that by laying hands on them and praying for them and depending on God to heal their body,” Spell said.

“When the paramedics can’t get there, when the law enforcement can’t get there, the holy ghost can get there it will make a difference in someone’s life,” Spell said.

* Re: small business. Most of the small business owner friends I have could drop what they're doing right now to go back to corporate America and make the same, or even way more money. Outside of the obvious catastrophe, that may be my biggest fear. Your local independent retailers and training studios and coffee shops and bars and restaurants -- many of those may not come back in a month or two or three. Why deal with the risk and the headache when you can just get a "regular" job with more certainty and pay?

Something I never took for granted in the booming economy was the overall shift to authenticity. Applebee's and Chili's and the like were struggling, but locally owned niche restaurants were popping up on every street corner. We need that back. I can only drink so many Brewtuses.

* I absolutely love this dude's work right here....

(do yourself a favor and read The Blue Zones)

I truly believe a big component of surviving this whole ordeal are the secrets wrapped up in that book. Financial security, healthy eating, daily exercise, avoiding stress......just some food for thought.

* <-- will be tuned into Garth's show tonight.

* Watched Fighting With My Family last night. Not gonna win any Academy Awards, but it's actually a solid movie. And by solid, I mean that type of movie that would come on TBS on a Sunday afternoon and you'd leisurely enjoy it. The real life family it's based on is pretty amazing.

* Never seen my lass so happy. She's spending all day working in the yard/garden, and all afternoon/evening in the kitchen. House looks amazing. I'm being exceptionally well fed. I could get used to this.

I worked in building code enforcement for the state for a while. Made basically no money at all but my goodness it was gravy. So much paid time off.

Having trouble comprehending the terms “good gig” and “Pike County” colliding together. Do you have a fever?

He works for himself, sets his own hours, and gets all the work he could want even though he lives in a place like Pike County (where you would think work would be limited). I can't imagine how much someone in a bigger area could earn doing the same thing.

Those county electric inspectors aren't the same as state or city inspectors. Most are contract employees. ^Like UCL, not a bad gig if life isn't about work.

Lol okay. Hit my IG up. Been there everyday. Jesus, lighten up bud feels like you’re having a rough go at it. We’re all super gay hanging out with girls in bikinis throwing football frisbee and playing volleyball.

Had a FB contact post that it’s obvious that jesus is coming back so he made his full support of jesus on line so when Jesus gets here he’ll know...pti is right the religious zealots will be raking in dough.

The college experience acts as a social filter and has a huge value.
OK, but at what price is the point. Going to be hard, in the middle of whatever the hell the economy looks like after this, to convince non-affluent people that the social benefits of college are worth $25k a year at a mid-level state school.

I mean, best case scenario is we bulldoze about half the universities in this country and send all non-productive administrators to work in the new state owned ventilator and respirator factories.

Indiana on lockdown starting Tuesday. Governor says they can go out to exercise. Welp, the new excuse for anything is gonna be exercising.

I take Hydroxychlorinique twice a day. Getting it refilled before they run out so all I’ll need is a Zpack to fight the impending doom. Or I could use them to trade for toilet paper.

KSR spent about 45 minutes in the second hour today praising Coach K for his class after the game in 92'. Do we not have 30 years of evidence of him acting classy in victory and giving coaches and players the blow by, even admonishing other players (Dillon Brooks) in defeat?

Hell, I would almost rather see him be a jerk all the way around at least that wouldn't be phony. Do better, guys, we are all a little testy these days...let's not talk about how great a guy Bob Knight was tomorrow because he graduated his players.

If it were genuine, I’d be the first one to acknowledge the thoughtfulness — like Izzo making a beeline to the Kentucky bench to comfort Chuck Hayes after the ‘05 regional final. But it’s not, so F him.

His antics are about as genuine as Toots Palumbo answering an unasked Make-a-Wish to visit a child on his deathbed at the Shriner Hospital.

First time I had watched it since 92 live so I was hazy on the details and did it really live up to the hype of greatest ever? Boy does it. Just a magnificent game all around. The thrill seeing Mashburn go beast mode with UK down 12 midway through the second half again brought chills. Then colossal play after colossal play down the stretch and in OT. And gd Laettner...Dukes best team ever had to have its best player ever be absolutely perfect to win that game. I mean the shot he hit that fouled out Mashburn was almost as ridiculous as the Woods shot that followed. I of course turned it off when UK went up by one because eff that. Stupid virus got me doing stuff I never would have thought to do. K can eat a dick.

* Screw Coach Kryzewsfxksvzze and dook

* Congrats WCC on your kid on the way (80Proof too as well as any others), nothing is better than that

* This country has a lot of very smart people that will solve this, and we've been through some hard times before, but it sucks and will suck for a while. It's like the guy in Platoon said "it's a giant **** sandwich and we all have to take a bite".
