There was over $500 on the line between him and another dude, who friends of each have been trying to set up a competition, so he was 'long drive' swinging it for sure - and they each got 10 balls. Still, Pro has played with pretty much everyone around here, and he swears there is nobody longer than him.

Was that what you were doing while your steaks were drying out Saturday night?
No, I was rushing home from a basketball game to set up a bourbon tasting, ensuring that it was blind, building a meat, cheese, fruit, chocolate tray, cleaning up, trying to enjoy the tasting and cooking dinner for 6 guys of whom all but 1 was appreciative.

I'm assuming 2 of the steaks were too close to the anova during the bath. Not really sure I've never had that happen before. I offered to order pizza but somehow ended up buying NY strips for everyone. F*ckers better not skimp when it happens at their house.

I play golf every now and then with Cameron Carrico. That dude hits it farther than I’ve ever seen in person. If I hit it good, he flys where my ball finishes 30-50 yards every single time. I’ve never seen anything like it. In college he kept breaking the face of his Taylor Made drivers and they flew him down to test it because they didn’t believe it. He broke the face on the one they gave him while he was down there. He actually had Taylor Made’s swing speed record at their facility until Dustin Johnson came back down there and broke it at some point.

I know this sounds false, but if you ever have played or do play with him, you’ll know it’s 100% accurate. It’s unreal how far he hits it.

Those Instagram worthy Charcuterie/cheese/etc trays #onwood are fantastic, but all i could think about was how much it probably cost to put together, and how much of it was going to go to waste, considering every single time I see one of those about 90% of it remains at the end of the party, and there's always 30% of the 'extra' items that don't even get touched at all.

I know you can put most of the stuff back in the fridge for various amounts of time to save, but still...

The Star of the party was still the 'death by chip' dip tho - pretty much all I need tbh.

Not much of it goes to waste. Cured meat lasts for weeks and I use on sandwiches or in an omelette. Great for leftovers.

I was appreciative, still am, it’s just that for someone who always complains about having his steak overcooked, I thought you might want some constructive feedback. I mean the next steaks you ruin, the people might not be as understanding as Adrian and I.

That’s all, I think my post was otherwise extremely complementary. The only reason I posted that picture was because Kooky couldn’t believe that is was possible to overdo a sous vides steak like that, when in fact, it was.

PS Sloot says she did 90% of that cheese board.

Oh and you still owe me for those two bottles, minus what the the overdone meat cost.

Am I the only one that wishes Boats critique would have held off until today?

You guys had some solid bottles to taste, and if the FourGate black label and/or M10 Rye came out as 1/1a my buddy modern thirst would be happy to hear that.

The steak in that pic was pretty much Medium Well, IMO.:grimace:

Well I wanted to save it for today, but Monday’s are usually pretty terrible and wasn’t sure I’d have time to give it the attention it would need.

Evan Williams 12 was the best in show imo, but very close with Michter’s rye 10. Four gate was a solid third.

I wish more people would focus on the bourbon aspect of the event and not dwell on Anthony’s shortcomings as a cook.

After many years of reading exuberant homemade steak stories, this pic killed me.

As a text bystander to the leadup, I can assure this was accurate. Apparently, pizza would have killed the palate of some of the
blowhards he invited.

I apologize to @anthonys735 , as I didn’t know that:

A) you were the chef at the party
B) you had a full slate of distracting tasks leading to the prep of said flesh
C) my query would lead to the presentation of visual evidence which shall enter into GYERO lore.
D) Anova can handle 6 strips at once

Sorry.

I graduated high school with him. He is unreal.

Wife is going with friends to Corto Lima in Lexington. Wifey (o_O at that term) is supposed to bring me home dinner. I've never been there.

Any good takeout recs from there?

Man this is what I get in the doc lounge today, just can’t seem to catch a break...at least it was advertised as pot roast.

I’m surprised Doc can stomach being a Trump supporter since he orders his steak well done and puts ketchup on it.
I guarantee all of our federal level politicians are weirdos.

Mitch McConnell probably puts mustard on fish.

Joe Biden looks like he mixes vodka and Coke.

Bernie Sanders melts his ice cream and eats it like soup alongside a glass of whole milk.
