The access and affordability to childcare is crucial to working class families who don’t have the options of stay at home parents, relatives offering to watch the kids, etc.
Recommend adopting a kid that is already largely self sufficient. Bonus points if you get an exceptionally good athlete who might "make it" and allow you to quit working 10-15 years from now.
-Tonight is a little scary tbh - Buzz has done a pretty remarkable job this year, have even seen him tossed around with Cal for SEC COY. That squad, early on, was among the worst teams in all of cbb, regardless of level.
-Leonard Hamilton was overrated so long that he's now vastly underrated. They haven't done much in March, but that program is tough every year these days; they will break through eventually if he keeps stacking talent - he's had 7 guys drafted in the last 4 years, and will have 2-3 more this year. They have like 8 good guard/wings, and are relentless. Love Vassel, especially.

-IHG Card has a 140K bonus currently. Highest that's ever been, or will ever be.
-Mack is a cool dude, but he's looked pretty bad several times this year when I've really watched them. Last night, he was apparently content with letting FRESH, Darius, and company just play 1-4 hero ball - couldn't believe it, really. That 12 point lead turned to 12 the other way in a flash.
I can't recall a player who looks so good against marginal teams, and like a scrub against legit ones like Nwora. It's uncanny. What a touching ***** that guy is.

I've been led to believe that coming home alone at lunch to find your nanny there is a lot more exciting than Anth makes it sound. Sad!
Daycare is outrageous and became even more mind boggling once we had our second. Like.. A second mortgage on a nice home.
We loved the daycare but getting the lil lassies up, fed, dressed & ready in the morning and picking them up became a hassle in terms of work schedules. My schedule is a lot more flexible than my wife’s schedule but it was still hectic in the mornings.
We hired one of the teachers we really liked to be their nanny. She arrives at 7:30 in the morning and leaves when we get home. The kids are already bathed. Makes the mornings and evenings that much easier and we also don’t have to worry about the dreaded phone call from daycare....YOUR CHILD HAS A FEVER AND WE NEED SOMEONE TO COME PICK HER UP SOON AND PER THE RULES SHE CAN’T RETURN TO THE PREMISES FOR ANOTHER 24 HOURS.
That would happen during flu season multiple times and we’d be scrambling, asking a grandparent to pick them up, transferring car seats, leaving work early, so on and so forth.

I was very fortunate that when my son was of age that my company had an off-site daycare facility that went up to Pre-K that was only three hundred dollars a month for employees.
How ironic that Chad himself is going to be what ruins GYERO.

I don’t know what the answer is. All I know is that I plan on working until 70 or so based on educational costs, inflation, so on and so forth. When I’m 70 the lil lassies will be out of college and I imagine the wife will still be working some. Perfect time for me to retire. Get up early everyday. Go for a nice walk with the dog. Steam. Hit up the sports book for some daily GAMBOL ( I’ll still have to go across the river in 2050) and then enjoy an agreeable meal with some buddies for lunch. Also have a standing daily 4:00 happy hour.
The nice thing about parenting these days is with social media it’s easier to see what everyone else does and really come together as a community to respectfully share opinions.

Between health care costs, retirement savings, life insurance, ski lessons in Aspen, owning and operating our sons travel baseball team, ballet, building an indoor basketball practice facility, vacationing in Martha’s Vineyard, the au pere, a safe reliable new SUV for each member of the family, a proper fitting Rolex for each occasion, yacht storage, our champion pheasant hunting dogs, 4 years at Swarthmore, piano, the French immersion culinary program, our annual contribution to the Opera, the Ferragamo collection, dinner club dues....ugh.

It never ceases to amaze me how often some parents insist the only way to rear your child to be anything less than a life sentenced felon is to do things considerably more expensive/prestigious/difficult than how they themselves grew up.
If children really MUST have overpaid nannies, brand new cars, designer clothing, and $65,000 a year private college, then how in TF did any of us ever make it out alive?

If you've ever listened to Dan's radio show, you realize just how amazing that one is. :joy: His best yet imo - dude is a treasure.
If some of you where TRUE GYERO men, you would earn enough so that your lovely spouse could stay home to make sure your chidren are raised by their parent. if the wife needs to fill a void / get bored at home, she can get a job, have one of the retired grandparents help with little Johnny or Suzy. Worked out great for us, she stayed home most of the time, worked a couple years at a time here and there. I did not want, nor did she want to work the whole time our kids where growing up. I was blessed to be able to make enough to live comfortable, and she could be at home with the kids. On weekends and evenings, I helped out. But it takes a very solid relationship of give and take. I do not have a McMansion, but we do all right.
The only thing worse than parenting advice from non-parents is parenting advice from everyone else (read: parents).
