Montgomery finding his role and footing. Really impressed with him of late.
I found myself not saying "F***ing Montgomery" at all last night. Huge for him. He doesn't have to light up the stat sheet to be what we need. Grab boards, scrap, be in position defensively, don't take the stupid jump shots. Profit.

We need the big fella and he's rounding into shape. Good to see.

Mags asked last night if any player in Kentucky history has missed more layups than Ashton Hagans?

Ummm, Andrew Harrison? Jared Prickett? Archie Goodwin? Bobby Perry? I’ll throw Chuck Hayes into the mix.

Believe I heard yesterday on Tom Leach that Hagans is 34% on short range FGs.

Those other guys missed CRIPS, bunnies, etc w/ Prickett obviously being the worst...but I've never seen anyone miss actual layups like Hagans, and often times they aren't even close.

The biggest problem is that he doesn't know how to shoot one -- last night early 2nd he actually performed a standard running layup, -- no slow down to go off 2 feet or look for contact, and no euro - basically, how you do in the layup line pregame. It was quite shocking, actually.

Huh? If you play to your competition seeding is not an issue at all. If you got your *** kicked by top seeds and beat lower seeds, then it would matter, no?

Easier to come back against the garbage team we get down to in the first half than a more talented one.

This stuff is so weird to me, but it seems across the board that players generally approach layups like Ashton, or Tyrese, etc etc...You slow down, do some euro-steppy things, throw yourself into the waiting arms of your opponent who jumped 20" higher than you, and then just look at the ref as you throw up some bs.

I blame Chris Paul, James Harden, etc.

I guess it could be a product of the stupid charge call, and kids just being conditioned to sidestep/avoid contact at all costs.

Worship a pull up jumper. Lost art imho.

Maybe we'll start seeing them more often since the replacement, the floater, is now called a charge 97% of the time. If a defender is even in the area, and he falls over, it's a charge.

- These idiots who love posting “he gone” in message board threads are equivalent to the “babba booey” morons at golf tournaments.

- At this point in the season, you want to trust your entire team. I trust Richards and Quickley- both of whom play smart and impact the game even if they’re off. I trust Maxey in big games. I’m coming around on EJ. Wait and see on Hagans. I’ll take that right now.

- Cats 39% from three in 2020.

Marrow may be using this Michigan St deal as leverage, or maybe he’s seriously considering it. And, it wouldn’t surprise if Mags is throwing it out there so MilqueToast will take it seriously. Mags and Marrow have a really good relationship.

EITHER WAY PAY THE MAN.

If we don’t retain Marrow because we wouldn’t match Michigan State, MilqueToast won’t recover and the fans will never forgive him.

I can't see that happening, but if we pinch pennies over someone so valuable, not only will we lose Marrow, but Stoops will bolt as soon as he gets a decent opportunity with a program more committed. If Marrow wants to leave for a more prestigious program, or a head coaching job, so be it, but losing him by simply not paying him would be the first step in undoing all the good that has been done so far. I don't think Mitch is that stupid.

Just learned East Lansing is in the mitten. How about that. 38 years and I‘ve always thought it was up north of Wisconsin.

Most of the general public just looks at the HC and his salary. Big Boy football is in the Asst pool. To take the next step we are going to have to pay the piper, and I think Mitch steps up. We have a good thing going and it's only getting stronger, no need to derail that over what amounts to a rounding error to the UKAA.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — On the second floor of Kentucky’s three-year-old, $45 million football facility, there’s a hallway that’s about the length of a football field.

As you walk down that hallway, lined with the assistant coaches’ offices, the recruiting war room and position meeting rooms, you draw closer to wood paneling at the end of the hall that leads to coach Mark Stoops’ office. Take a sharp right at the dead end, and you’re inside the oval office of Kentucky football, the headquarters of the football program that’s killing the Big Ten on the recruiting trail.
