Kobe's death is Princess Di level as far as worldwide shock and mourning. Jerry West said it best, "He was a man for all seasons."
I would like to see them replace Jerry with Kobe as the NBA logo. The fall away j would be an appropriate pose but I prefer the crank back dunk pose. Either way, he deserves it.

I'm sure Larry Bird is hurting too. Kobe was his favorite player of that generation.

- Grind Burger Kitchen for lunch and The Post for pizza last night. Also squeezed in Mile High Brewery in between. Well done, Louisville.

- I've been a Celtics fan my whole life, and I loathed Kobe for much of it. But I came to respect the greatness and how he transformed himself after the rape accusations. Yesterday's news was gutting, but his daughter dying with him made it doubly rough. All those videos of him talking about Gianna and that courtside banter between them was so sad and beautiful at the same time. God help his wife and the other girls.

I’ve about had it with the “what about rape” crowd and/or the “do you know what soldiers died yesterday” crowd.

The person I most feel for is the 14 year old Albertori daughter left behind, I can’t get over the impact for her.

UK basketball is a trip, and I’m not entirely sure I’m worried about any team that will make the tournament. I am worried about beating ourselves though, which if we lose I’m sure I’ll in some way believe that’s the case.

Why in the world is LA postponing their next game when it’s against each other? If there was ever a chance to pay homage to a mega star, tomorrow night was it.

I’ve been dealing with my deceased grandmothers assets and helping the distribution of them amongst her children. Us grandchildren got nothing which is fine, but to see the her children come unglued over the **** is ridiculous.

Every time I’m in Middletown around lunch I hit up Bento. That Poke bowl is becoming my single most favorite lunch.

Ruth Chris this weekend, and I’ve never been. Anything I should know outside of steak, asparagus, mushrooms and possibly a creme brûlée?

The GOAT does it again.

Survives 7 match points to advance to the Aussie Open Semis.

Of course Djokovic is going to crush him but at 38, what a performance

Are you the representative of the estate? If so, just sell the stuff that hasn’t been specifically bequeathed (if there is a will) and divvy the cash up.

Yeah, I am sure the two LA teams, the crowd, etc...should have been able to put aside all of the emotional parts of the tragedy and focus on a basketball game 2 days after it happened. What on earth are they thinking?

I’ve made it pretty clear over the years but just so it out there:

I can name numerous times where athletes have lost near and dear family members and played games the day of, or the next day etc.

When they have done so they have been viewed in the eyes of the public as honoring the deceased, respectfully, and in general seemingly thought to be strong for doing so.

I guess I just saw tonight’s game as a chance to honor the late great instead of postponing.

LA is completely devastated. Most popular Laker ever. And not even close. He played there his entire career, almost 20 years. It’s not just the fans. The organization itself is devastated. Coaches, executives, staff, etc.

Tuesday Randoms:

-Kobe: Noted fanboy, one of my favorite athletes of all time, to the chagrin of many around here through the years. The guy rubbed a lot of people wrong along the way, especially early -- but damn, if he didn't accomplish most everything he said he would & more. One of the greatest competitors ever, and no doubt the closest thing there has ever been to MJ, or will be in our lifetimes imo.

While hard to watch, it's really cool to see the reverence and respect from essentially everyone. The guy was truly brilliant, and seemed well on his way to bigger and better things in the next chapter of his life. I don't get caught up in celebrity deaths, but this one is just different. Still doesn't seem real. RIP Mamba. :weary:

-The more I think about it, the more pissed I get that Whitney left. While I do think this year it's likely addition by subtraction, I hate seeing guys like him leave. Just imagine if IQ & Nick had done the same? I wish him well, but truly believe he made a poor choice, especially considering the timing.

-Hit the Sportsbook Saturday with a large group. First big UK game out there, and it was an awesome atmopshere. Reminded me of watching games at Varsity Blue in college, only with live betting.

^ the Derby City Classic billiards tourney was going on. Was aware they hosted that, but had no idea how big of a deal it was. People from all over the country, all carrying their little cue cases over their shoulders like Bow & Arrows. The entire place was basically a Pool Expo - pretty cool.

-Bored with anything Netflix/Prime has to offer, so finally bit the plug on HBO for a bit. So far, I've knocked out:

-Succession
-The Jinx
-The Night Of (halfway through)

Guess True Detective S1 will be next. Was S2 really THAT bad?

Imagine I'll wait for sports off season to hit some of the longer classics. I've seen The Wire & Sopranos, and the first 2 seasons of Deadwood 15+ years ago I'd guess...so could also watch that again like new. Open to recs, prefer crime/family drama/suspense.

-I'm all for organic food, try to buy as much as possible when available, especially meats & veggies. But I've made an executive decision that it's only JIF peanut butter for me from here on out - Life is too short for that other ********. 1-2 tsp every week or two w/ some saltines is about all I indulge. Bring on the palm oil and 2 grams of added sugar. :fire: Extra crunchy ftw

-Amazing how hard it is for UK to move up in the polls/metrics this season, but I guess we deserve it. Even if we'd just not lost to Evansville but still had the others we'd be in pretty damn good shape. :uzi:

-If you were a complete mountain newbie, and could only visit one Colorado ski town for a long weekend, which would it be? Friendly slopes, convenient lodging, walkable entertainment, etc.

-Vale or Breckinridge. Easy to get to. Massive towns.

-What makes the Whitney stuff more infuriating is the rumors suggest he didn't want to leave and wasn't causing issues with the team. So short sighted especially with all the evidence around him showing patience will pay off.

-Fairly obvious why the Lakers/Clippers game was moved. Shouldn't take any explanation.

-Laptop screen is fluttering and I feel like I'm going to have a seizure. o_O

-Keep the So Indiana Casino takes coming, caint get enough.

-Working on the OJ series on Netflix.

-Lach is big mad that Bowden won KY Sports Person of the year. Makes it even sweeter.

-That Fox FT line miss/layup to tie, tho :eyes:

Not sure what you're trying to say WW. That Peanut Butter is beneath a grown man? Crunchy peanut butter is? Is this like your horrendous Mac N Cheese take?

Hard to beat an occasional snack of PB & Saltines w/ a little Trippie Redd blasting in the background. JMO

Lol, I had to beg them and go all Karen for them to not cut down 20+ hemlocks. Down the road they just lopped off the tops off several mature trees in peoples yard.

The "weird" argument that someone who isn't from the state, didn't play a single game in the state last year, and plays in a league that doesn't even have a presence in the state shouldn't be named the sportsman of the year for that state.

I made the same argument when I voted for Lebron James to be Kentucky's sportsman of the year, but the cashier at Staples just threatened to call the cops on me for refusing to leave the store.

I mean Lebron said IF he went to college, it would have been UK, so that is close enough to make him KY Sportsman of the year. If not, Lebron, AD will suffice, he did play here. Lach is a bitter idiot. My vote probably would have been Stoops. Bowden did all the heavy lifting, but it was a whole team buy in that made it work. Not even factoring in the recruiting he did this year to set up many years to come.

The guys down at the welders union say steamboat springs.

I like my team. I especially like the fact they show up in big games. Although absolutely awful losses, at least we know they’re capable of winning big games.

One more month and almost spring

JT had a better PGA tour season than what Lamar did in the NFL? Are you stupid?

No, your comprehension is pretty bad. JT is at least a Kentucky native. I’m not advocating for him to win it as he lives in Jupiter, but you could at least make a decent connection to the state. Lamar merely lived here for a few years.
