HE WILL HAVE THEM READY TO PLAY IN MARCH!1

This is such a stupid *** lazy take. You just fng turn on a switch on March 1. Hey, folks, hate to break it to ya you pay for your regular season sins on Selection Sunday. You keep having embarrassing losses like Evansville, Utah and S Carolina you’re trending towards a really bad seed.

Personally, I’d like to get back to where we are really good to dominant throughout the regular season where we know we are one of if not the bonafide favorites to win the title. I’m sick and tired of waddling through mediocre **** in the regular season hoping for some March miracle. This is the second out of 3 years we’re doing this.

I wish I could find a gif of the and one drive that EJ made. His man got beat, tried to undercut EJ, flops back, and then complains he got called for the foul. That is how defense is being played in 2020. For ***** sake you see players leaving their man to step to the side and flop. It’s a 5050 shot to get the call or give up an uncontested dunk. College basketball is a sick drug that is slowly killing us all but we keep searching for that Blue fix

* Is Dontaie Allen gonna play this year? At this point, we literally need another warm body in the frontcourt who is capable of making a basketball play. Whitney and, to a lesser extent, Brooks are unbelievably bad. I mean Whitney is literally incompetent as a basketball player right now and Brooks is only slightly better.

* Redass aside, I think wanting Cal gone is really, really stupid. Even when he's fat and complacent, he's still a top 5 college basketball coach right now.

That said, this whole program just reeks of entitled complacency. My hope would be that Calipari stops with the carnival barker horseshit, shakes up the coaching staff, and tells fan that he's just as unhappy about the recent dip in performance as Billy Joe Wildcat and that he's going on a warpath to get **** right.

Also, let's bring back Rod Strickland. And get him a full time driver.

* Is Ashton Hagans better than Cliff Hawkins?

* PTI is absolutely right that it is shocking that our talent level is so low right now. Derek Willis would start. (Assuming that Calipari would ever actually bench Montgomery.)

The days of curbstomping through the schedule are over. Talent gap is diminished everywhere so that emotion/execution are paramount. The fact we are just learning our rotations and playing together in mid January is telling.

and EJ stinks.

Few things...

*I like Hagans, he’s been our best all around player this year but his penchant for committing unforced turnovers is a microcosm of this team. We were up by a comfortable margin, he makes a couple lazy plays, they get a dunk, sandstorm and EJ looks terrified.

*I’m on record still believing you have to play Sestina as much as you can stomach it because of spacing issues. His limitations be dammed. If EJ or anyone else were a significant upgrade on the boards or D I might feel differently.

*Can we just get a rotation where everyone knows and understands their roles? That’s part of the problem with these young guys and this team. I almost hope Allen RS’s at this point because it would be one more guy Cal is buzzing in and out seemingly at random.

*I will agree with PTI in one respect, I’m done looking at HS highlights and projecting what a kid will be when he gets here, surprise me.

*Still think JJ can and will be a knock down shooter. I’m not sure it was wise to have him in at crunch time when he hadn’t played in like 3 games. I know he was hustling but that’s a strange call.

*You could make a highlight real from the shots we missed 3 foot and in. Maddening.

*The refs were a disgrace.

Great. Coming off back to back years losing to Bruce Weber/Bruce Pearl in the tourney.
Makes zero staff changes
Continuing to get bitched out of any Top 5 players.

Yay, another year of hoping it "all comes together in March" and maybe get lucky.

2 HOURS AWAY, CAN'T WAIT!

<---Shotgun. Just put me on the damn bus now. I'm pissed

November 5th.

It's not coming together. This **** sucks.

I really enjoyed last night when Maxey and Quickley were both playing really well and in a rhythm only to take away their minutes by playing Juzang who hasn’t seen the court in a month.

Good call, Cal.
this was the head scratcher of the night. Just really odd and frankly inexcusable.

Done with recruiting? Meh. We're #2 class because we bring in 5 dudes not because we're getting the best. Cal missed on:

Wiseman, Carey, Edwards, Stewart, McDaniels, Hampton, Lewis, Hurt and Blackshear. Get 2 of that group and we're top 5. Miss and we're losing to Evansville, Utah, and a dreadful USC.

The OAD machine doesn't work as well with 2nd tier guys. Especially when your top rated recruit can't even grab a rebound half way through the season.

Antigua got canned at a south Florida in 2017, then he went straight to Illinois. F YOU CAL.

Cal owes Mark a ton, because if BJW didn’t have a historic football program to follow, they would be all up in his ***. Thankfully for him, nobody really cares, and I think that’s just fine by him. He’s basically semi retired and already declared he doesn’t care about W/L’s. Whatever. Brad will come back to be Joel’s assistant, and FTBGE.

All I ask is that Mark gets a lifetime contract ASAP.

Think I'm the most pissed off that we can enjoy what they didn't f up last night. Hagans taking one in like a man finally and finishing strong with a dunk. Maxey that first bomb then following up with another...but you know, the 6 points back ruined that. Quickly looking like he can create anywhere like his last 3.

Still blame the leadership. You dick around and overlook teams like SC and you're going to get popped in the mouth. The team is going to follow their leader. He led them to a lackadaisical end of the 1st and an abomination of a 2nd where one of the worst teams I've ever seen in bball looked like GSW from 3 years ago.

Fix your ****, Cal.

EJ had no rebounds, 3 fouls and one blown wide open layup (they hit a 3 the following trip) in 13 second half minutes.

Cal has to start cutting his clock. I would rather see Brooks out there as a small ball 4. He’s a spaz but I guarantee he would at least grab a defensive board or two.

How EJ, Whitney, & Brooks have the confidence to continue to Jack up shots, much less check in the game at all is amazing to me. I guess I should respect that somehow.

The problem is Cal is going to have to make a strategic pivot philosophically in both Xs and Os and recruiting and it's going to be hard to do.

He's set up UK as the NBA factory, which it was. Now you have 2nd tier guys who come and think it's magic and will just float into the NBA because they are associated with UK. Cal has to somehow stop selling the NBA and making dreams come true (or go back to get 3 top 10 guys per class). That's going to be a hard thing to sell and not look like you're coming down a peg or two.

He, of course, also has to start recruiting shooters and guys whose games fit college basketball better.

My numerous frustrations about Cal aside, the "go coach the Knicks, c-sucker" crowd is forgetting one key element. Who the hell would replace him and have the same or better success?

Brad Stevens/Frank Vogel/Billy Donovan? Not leaving the league.
Chris Holtmann? White Tubby.
Bruce Pearl? Over Barnhart's dead body.

There's no obvious in-the-wings candidate that has me even remotely excited about the future, so I guess I'll keep riding the roller coaster of young players and settle for being a team with a ton of upside come March. And at the risk of having the football pulled away from Charlie Brown yet again, there's a lot to be excited about next year, especially if Cal lands Brown or Kuminga.

Are you saying you don’t think there is a coach out there that could take this team and beat USC last night? Because that’s what I want.

I want Cal to take this **** serious enough to not piss a game away proving points to his team that it’s his way or the highway, especially when these guys can’t wait to get to the NBA anyway.

If there's one thing I'm fairly confident in, it's that there will be no major philosophical switch for John Vincent Calipari. We are who we are, and when we get elite blue chip talent, we will murk. When we don't, we will occasionally lose to trash *** teams. This is our brand now.

There will be no major philosophical change with Cal. He's hard-wired to play not to lose, to grind it out, and to take his foot off gas rather than go for the jugular. As has been said, when we have 2010/12/15 talent, that's fine (except sometimes in March when he gets even tighter), but in normal years, you have inexcusable losses like last night.

A schematic change may be possible, but he is who he is. A stubborn, conservative, Hall of Fame coach who has so far shown no willingness to adapt to the modern game.

The Dragon's mixtape must be full of CGI, then.

Has some powerful dunks for sure but he isn’t very quick...slow footwork.

Davis, Wall, Fox, etc...when you watch its like :scream::scream::scream::scream:. Jumping out of the gym, making dudes fall over. Absolute ridiculousness.

Cal needs the elite bigs, it's how he wants to play...his best teams have always had them sans that awesome Memphis squad with a generational point guard.

Ironically, developing toughness and back-to-the basket games in guys like Towns, Davis and even Cousins (who wanted to shoot J's a lot more than Cal would let him) has maybe hurt him in recruiting. While it was the correct thing to do for those players and their games, it wasn't necessarily what they wanted to do. All these young big guys think they are Kevin Durant now, they don't want to be parked on the block.
