You may have missed it but we lost to Evansville as the #1 team in the country.
I can deal with that. Hell, Duke lost to a worse team this year. Embarrassing yes, but don’t make it worse.

Just make the NCAA and get on to next season.

Refs are refs, but honestly they have as much to do with the loss as Ohio St. How many 4-5 point swings were there?

For the 1-2 justified ones, there were 3-4 that were laughable. We had 6 fouls with 16 minutes left in the first half, and 6 fouls with 13 left in the 2nd.

So then you beat them by 20 points and the sh*tty refs help them cut it to just 12. Or you pound Evansville and Utah by 40 points like you should and then this is our first loss after being #1 for a month. The point is the refs can swing a game once or twice a year or make life harder, but if you're dragging your nuts the way Kentucky should be then they aren't stopping you. The refs aren't the problem. They weren't the problem when we had Wall, Cousins, Davis, KAT, Knight, Lamb, etc. etc. and they're not the problem now.

The refs are the refs. Bad teams whine about the refs. Badass teams dragging nuts beat you by 30 points anyway. Get **** right.

What’s sad is that in watching UK lose to Evansville and Utah, Kentucky was clearly the superior team.

Tonight, they were clearly the inferior team.

To Ohio F’ing State.

Sad.

BEAT VIRGINIA TECH.

Nick, EJ and Dragon playing anything but off the bench, much less starting, is what’s limiting this team. WCC nailed it, 8 pts & 6 rebs, nothing on defense and just clogging any drives isn’t going to ever improve. 3 guards, Brooks and Sestina would be obvious to Stevie Wonder.

Yea bad take and he was lost out there, but Whitney or Juzang have got to be viable at the forward spot to push Sestina to the 4 and make Cal stop going Nick/EJ.

It would also allow Quickley to come off the bench and we would be better for it overall, if they can grow somehow.

On a side note, this is gonna be the worst year for the SEC since when? Florida's overrated and might be outright bad. We look completely lost. Tennessee just lost Lamonte Turner for the year. Auburn looks good but they haven't played a ranked team and only one P5 team. Outside of maybe Auburn, this league might not have a top 5 seed come tourney time.

Just flopped a set of Qs to get cracked by a set of As on the river.

Saw 6 straight 7-outs immediately after a roll out.

Down $1k at the tables.

Edit: Had a 4 pick parlay ruined on the over 138 for UCLA/UNC.

0-2 to f*cking Utah and OH-IO (state).

This team sucks and it’s not fun watching them. I’ll keep watching because it’s what we do, but this year is going to be miserable. We have too many guys that just can’t play the game at a high enough level, and most likely will never be able to do so while they’re imprisoned against their will at UK.

Hagans - good.

Quickley - 4 year rotation guy

Juzang - Garbage for the foreseeable future

Richards - athletic enough to be outstanding, but garbage against anyone with a pulse. At this point, highly unlikely that changes. He may make some decent money playing for the Guatemala Goat Rapers.

EJ - Garbage. Very similar to Richards in that he physically looks the part, but just sucks 95% of the time. Has absolutely zero clue what to do, is moderately lazy, and is an enormous *****.

Maxey - will probably be a pretty decent NBA player after he’s been gone a few years. Streaky and potentially good the couple months he’s here, but not a real star.

Sestina - pretty solid mid major guy that should be the 9th man on a good UK team.

DRAGON - Garbage. No redeemable qualities so far.

Brooks - Not garbage, but close. Won’t be a real difference maker for at least another year or two, and I’m sure he’ll already be gone when he reaches his potential.

This team is built like ****, plays like ****, and can eat ****.

-Juxtapose the way Cal has handled Whitney and Poythress. Poythress in is freshman year was 10x the player Whitney is and Cal couldn't do anything other than lament about how poor of a motor Poythress has and give him the quick hook. Whitney sucks major balls and gets no guff from him.

-This game was winnable. The whistle didn't help, but we are spotting teams points with certain lineup combinations and silly arbitrary minute restrictions due to fouls. We were down in the game and Cal started subbing out Sestina due to his foul trouble and started playing EJ and Nick together. Subbing out Richards for the entire first half for 2 fouls is a ridiculous decision. He committed one more foul the entire game. Say what you want about Nick, but 10 more minutes for him is better than 10 more minutes for Juzang or Whitney. We aren't winning the game without our better players on the court.

-Letting Whitney on the court is a travesty in and of itself, much less starting him alongside EJ and Nick. That's a waste of production.

-We have to commit to playing a style maximizing 3 guards + a stretch 4. The bench guys come in and fit in as best as they can. We hope our top 6 players can provide 2012 type minutes.

-I may be crazy or drunk, but I wouldn't be opposed to letting Richards shoot some 3's in games. His jumper is better than EJ's and the staff seems to have no problem when he chucks. When Sestina is out, him being capable in the pick and pop could help immensely. At worst, it's a missed shot. That's better than getting called for a charge.

It really isn't that hard. Start Hagans, Maxey, Quickley, Sestina, and Richards. Brooks backs-up Sestina. Montgomery backs-up Richards and they each play about 25 minutes a game. Let Whitney, I guess, fill in where he can. In retrospect we probably should have redshirted Juzang but everyone (me included) would be pissed if we shot so horribly from the perimeter and our supposed sharpshooter was sitting on the bench.

That will never happen because it would destroy the draft stock of Montgomery and (to a lesser extent) Whitney. Gotta do what's best for the kids, not the program!

Remember that time Maxey had a breakaway clear path to the rim.....and he jumped about 6 inches, got his weak bs swatted off the backboard. Wtf was that nonsense.

Another favorite was when Hagans had a break, goes in on 3 dudes (of course...), tries to euro step zig zag through all of them, jumps 6 inches, OSU players just grab the ball from him.

I think we made the wrong decision on almost every single break we had. Passing the ball to the open man is a foreign concept to these losers, and finishing at the rim is an impossible task. Even our “bigs” cannot finish at the rim.

That’s the saddest part of all this. We can’t even really dunk the ball.

I just can’t believe how marginally talented we are. Hagans is a stud, Maxey has lots of potential, Sestina and Quickley are fairly solid, then.....?

Everyone has holes in their game, and it’s truly difficult to determine who even deserves minutes aside from that.

Montgomery’s draft stock went to 0 last night. He didn’t do anything offensively and got abused on the defensive end. I know NBA guys do some dumb signings now and then, but even those guys aren’t taking EJ Montgomery.

Just like I felt that Sestina’s shot would come around. I think with real minutes and a defined role, Juzang will eventually find his shot. In fact, it’s really important that he does so you almost just have to put him out there warts and all and hope.

The center position should be EJ and Richards and just hope they alternate sleepwalking through games.

Sestina can’t guard anyone but at least he knows what and where to be, I would rather he be at a spot and get blown by then watch EJ/Nick try to guard the same guy our block the same guy for a 3rd time in a row while we give a wide open layup. Nate needs to play as much as he can.

Whitney can’t basketball good enough to play anything but small ball 4. Brooks is fine. I would rather he man the 3 if we aren’t going 3 guards.

Why is Quickley always off balance? When was the last time that stupid euro step worked?

I want to find the positive but honestly you get a performance like that from Sestina you should win. The latest in a long line of red flags.

Hagans and Sestina both posting highlights on instagram an hour after the game. An hour is a new record after a loss. I guess we all deal with setbacks in different ways. I trust the process.

I'm sure the rest of the squad would've posted some highlights too, but you know... there weren't any for anyone else.
