Shotes:

-Herro, lol. Search those highlights if you haven't....scored 16 of team's last 18 in regulation/OT, including the Final 11, and multiple go-ahead buckets. Dude is already a legit star in Miami.

-So, Bubba Parham plays for Ga Tech? :eyes:

-Really impressed with Hagans the last few games -- he's really coming into his own as a distributor, seems to have a knack for creating easy shots for our bigs, especially. If we can ever start knocking down jump shots, he could test some assist records.

-Finally caved on my wife's 3 year quest for an Air Fryer...went w/ the XL Rotisserie verson. It's basically just a mini convection oven, which our ovens already are, but it really does crisp things up on a different level...and comes to temp in about 2 minutes. Impressive little rig, Rottisserie Chicken last night was :fire:, 40 min.

-UNC is dogshit. Without Cole, they'd be NIT bound.

-Touch Indiana. Also their best team in about 20 years, screw that -- I'm fine with Charlotte/Belk. Booked, but not confirmed I'm attending yet -- after the Christmas travel grind, been kinda nice enjoying from home the past few years. Charlotte downtown cool?

..Hyatt Place Downtown @ just 8K per night, btw. Best value rewards program, not even close.

-Luke Combs @ Yum & the Galt House w/ the wife Wednesday, w/ some early bar hopping downtown. Occasional 'staycation' nights in town are fun, & Country Concerts are always a good date night no matter how garbage the artist...she just absolutely worships any/all - it's my ultimate marriage points-earning activity. Combs has a few junts.

-It goes against everything I stand for as a sports fan,, but if I started a new life in New Orleans like Ursch, it would be very difficult for me to not become a sizeable bandwagon LSU fan. I'm talking full on "We" & "My Tigers" level.

-Haven't heard many Lakers jokes/piling on around here/Twitter since week 1. 21-3 :eyes: AD w/ a cool 50 spot last night.

-10 days til Vegas. [cheers]

Rack, 73. Not to mention the national media spending the entire time playing up the “CAL RUINT THE SERIES” storyline.

NYE. Pot of chili. Cold beers. Fire. F em, I say.

EDIT: But I’ll be honest, unless we’re going for 10 wins or playing in a NY6 game or something, bowl games are all the same to me. It’s a fun game, nice to play someone new, but basically a freebie IMO. Just lay back and try to enjoy it.

-Have a few college friends in Charlotte and since this is the last year of the SEC tie in I selfishly wanted the Belk.

-Booked hotels last week. Taking the whole big *** crew again but got 6 $38 tickets on stub hub last night. UK with $92 tickets is hilarious.

-And yes for Virginia Tech. Been wanting this matchup for a few years.

-Was in Total Wine on Saturday and randomly they had a table with Little Book Chapter 3, Woodford Choc Malt, Basil 10 year. Snagged the Little Book which is a blend of all of Beam's small batch at barrel strength.

-Also picked up a single barrel Buffalo Trace at Liquor Barn. I have a problem.

-Agree, I'm all in on my Bayou Bengals. MCF swears their fan base is awful when you're up close but big fan from 12 hours away. Same with My Saints -> Who Dat, baby.

-Everything about Belk, other than not being a Florida Bowl, is better. Opponent, city, date, time, stadium, distance. Bowl games are the old school SECT, pre-NashVegas take over, type of fun. Nothing really on the line and the fun crowd shows up.

-Just wish Sestina was playing right now, especially with only 1 dude shooting over 35% from 3. Also, hate waiting a week b/w cupcake games. Bleh.

-Finally perfected my meatball recipe, I think. I'm sure some tweaking will continue but a few controversial changes implemented seem to have them right where I wanted.

-My new kitchen appliance is Breville food processor and that sumbitch is a monster. Intimidating, tbh.

-Shocking that Pete Carroll is the oldest NFL coach. Hope I have that type of energy at 68.

-For a cheaper ($16) Cab, Smith & Hook is a solid choice. We've been wearing it out for the gatherings.

-Frozen 2 was pretty good but still don't get the fascination unless you're a young girl. Empty IMAX theater was even more enjoyable.

-Alexa Auto has been a good addition until G realized it was in there.

"Alexa play HoeTown Road"

30 seconds into the song
"Alexa play Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer"
Alex plays Red Nose by some random band
"Alexa play Rudolph by Blippie"
Throws the echo out of the car.

I like giving Mitch sh*t because he seems to be a pushover and doesn’t appear to leverage stuff like UT crawfishing on a deal. I also think we consistently get one seed lower than we should for the tournament, even though he’s on the board. Plus he hired Billy Gillespie and Joker Phillips. That said, outside of those things he’s done a great job (not sarcasm).

Took a few days off and went down to Miami. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas is a perfect time to travel from a value standpoint. Did a Sat -> Wed trip. 10K miles on American plus $5 per person. It’s like they are giving it away.

Best part of Miami is how easy it is. Leave the house at 5:30 PM on Saturday. 6:45 flight Saturday night from Louisville to Miami. Land at 8:45, checked into hotel by 9:45 and out on South Beach by 10:15. 82 and sunny today. Yes please.

*** I hope you don’t prebake meatballs before steeping them in sauce.
Bake them in a dish lightly covered in sauce on convection rather than plopping them in the sauce. I would prefer to sear them prior but it's been proven it's not really worth the extra effort.

-booked a family trip to france/italy yesterday. June. Flights <$700 round-trip. Few days in paris, French riviera and pop over to Rome. Girls are gonna be through the roof when they find out. I'm never gonna retire. Whatevs.

-playing a football school in a bowl is cool. After terry touchdown/sawyer went down i thought we were due for a disappointing season...what this team/coaches did is to be lauded*.

-*especially the receiving corps. Knowing they weren't gonna get much glory they blocked their asses off...just did what they were asked to do. *Proud* of them, tbh.

* Fell in lust with everything LSU football after the 2006 game in Baton Rouge. We lost 49-zip, and it's the most fun I've ever had at a game, hands down. Don't think any of us paid for food, beverage, or travel the entire game day (me, 73, suter, k-gar, cc).

- had people begging us to tailgate with them and eat their gumbo, jamb, and drink their alcohol. the second we hopped out of the cab, two old guys were yelling at us to come join them from 100 yards away in the rv lot.
- got a ride to the bars in the back of some dude's pickup
- free beers at the bar from all sorts of randos
- a certain Matt Bevin appointed judge waxed some gal that night, and she sought him out literally b/c she just wanted to wax a UK fan
- crushed beer pong and other various drinking games at a party on the lawn of the student center
- ride home from the bars at 2am, some chick's boyfriend was picking her up and well marcus

Best game atmosphere, without question.

Other notes and things to love.....

- we probably have less of a rivalry with LSU than any other sec team. just don't play them very often, and even have a win over their 2-loss national champion ('07). there's just not much of a reason to hate them at all.
- no team has had two more colorful coaches back-to-back than lsu with orgeron and miles. man, those dudes are nuts.
- cajuns are something else. easily the wackest, weirdest accent of anyone in the united states. the ones who live way down the bayou speak this weird dialect with a deep accent, and a mashup of a bunch of cajun french words you've never actually heard. so bizarre and awesome and hysterical to hear them go at it.

Big, big fan of it all.

Easily the most underrated aspect of the season, imo. It probably helped that Bowden is their leader so they grinded it out for him.

We've got some guys like Dailey, Ali, and Oliver who have shown some potential and will be veterans next year. Given the QB situation, it is impossible to really have any takeaways on the WR position for next year other than it will suck to lose Bowden and those guys played their asses off for him.

That whole trip was very "LSU". Everything you could imagine for that kind of trip and more.

Looking back, all of the SEC trips have been dominated by a theme...

LSU - huge party
Florida - bro culture
South Carolina - stepsister of the SEC (before Mizzou)
Tennessee - rednecks
Vanderbilt - Nashville, whatever
Arkansas - well off rednecks
Alabama - Kentucky basketball, football Camelot
Ole Miss - snobby
Miss St - podunk cowtown
Georgia - rednecks who like to fight with a chip on their shoulders
Auburn - really nice people
A&M - don't know
Mizzou - have no desire to know

Brother-in-law and sister really enjoyed Columbia. Pleasantly surprised with everything about it.

Daughter is 10 today. Time never goes by faster than it does when you are a parent.

Stoney River tonight for her dinner. She's wanted RIVUE the last 4 years but proximity to the restaurant won out....even for a 10 year old.

Small world alert: Family that moved in next door to me is business partners with a guy that was in my wedding. 73 probably knows him....owns a stone company.

Got the 1st good smell of **** in the neighborhood last night. Awful for about 10 minutes when I was putting up decorations. Treatment facility must have been turd churning.

Sad to see Silicon Valley end, but it's time. Great series....one of the best.
