-Thanks for replacing it, I guess.

-Bob is a real steak eater, no sauces required.

-Been casually looking at Traeger Grills for a few months, wrong time of year, but I may be selling out on the BGE.

-Still avoiding social media and such. Being a fanatic is dumb.
Take a look at the Yoder lineup.

Haven’t eaten turkey as the actual “main” holiday dish in about 5 years and never plan to. How that abomination became the main staple of the richest country in the world I’ll never understand.

I've smoked a turkey breast on the Weber Smoky Mountain, but haven't done a whole turkey yet.

It couldn't have been juicier, even if Boat was whispering "spatchcock" into its tiny little turkey ear over and over again.

EDIT: And yes, we do the traditional bird for Thanksgiving.

Turkey is a pretty good. Once a year I get to eat turkey, dressing, and gravy. I really look forward to that. If I went somewhere and they served me a traditional mexican meal, I would go the f off and wreck ****. You can enjoy a nice bird with gravy, and then you can enjoy it again, and again for a few days till it's all gone. Then you can take your *** down to the hacienda for the rest of the 362 days in the year.

I will be pumping a spatchcock turkey full of Cajun butter with a spicy Tony rub and smoking it with pecan wood. The first ten minutes that bird is sliced is like the blooming of a Jerusalem tulip.

All the profits.

<— well known turkey fryer

But it’s an electric fryer done while wearing jeans and a sensible pullover, enjoying a craftie or nice glass of bourbon, so still #smug

About that time of year for SAE’s annual no jeans during Thanksgiving and Christmas rant.

Which, I’m totally on board with, btw.

My point of view has always been Thanksgiving and Christmas meals aren’t normal/everyday occasions, so why dress like it? They’re special occasions. Put on some khakis/cords and a button down.

Turkey on top of dressing covered with gravy, that's the Thanksgiving play. You can't do that with ham or roast beef or fajitas.

Would think a traeger is a really good option for most but if you still want to mess around with using extremely high temps or low smoking then youre not going to find anything as versatile as the egg.

You may not believe it- but all of your turkeys taste basically the same and they are all mediocre. You'll throw away more of it than people actually eat. Sorry this is true and there is no honest rebuttal. There is a reason that meal is prepared once a year (bc its not good).

There was a good bourbon pursuit podcast episode on with one of the guys who got caught counterfeiting bottles in the facebook group a couple of years ago. They didnt use his real name but i'm sure a lot of us probably know him somehow if he is anywhere in Kentucky. Said he did about 35 or so fake bottles in with some other legit ones he was flipping. All to support a drug habit or something. Interesting conversation. Also, Fred Minnick is a clown.

2016: Purchase home and continue ongoing renovations to this day in a city we like and swear we arent moving again ever.
2020: Maybe we consider some new opportunities. Its whatever.

We were never allowed to wear jeans on Thanksgiving, but we could bring them to change into after lunch for backyard football purposes.

So, how good is Trae Young? :eyes: Yeesh. That kid is gonna be an All Star in Year 2, and for a long *** time if he stays healthy.

The Steph comparisons are inevitable, and while I doubt he'll ever come close to his overall career/awards/titles, etc, the argument can be made he's better, or at least as good at the same stage. I've seen several people mention that if we hadn't already seen it all before w/ Steph people would be losing their minds over what he's doing, and that's probably accurate.

Fun as hell to watch, that's for sure. Like Steph, the ease with which he shoots 30 footers is incredible, big fan.

-I respect the traditional boring *** Thanksgiving Turkey, but the deep fried version is so far superior it's not even funny. Pain in the *** though.

^ :joy: few things more on brand than this.

-Ohio St looked *really* good last night. Looking like another Top 10 showdown next month if we do our part until then.

Jeans are awful in general, no need to limit it to just Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Unless you're doing the old fashioned cook the turkey at 150 degrees for 45 hours thing, your turkey should be moist using basic cooking skills.

You eat what you want 364 days a year. Suck it up and cook a damn turkey for Thanksgiving and stop ishing on tradition.

There is a lot of room for innovation and progress in this world, but if you're too cute for turkey and dressing like an adult, on Thanksgiving, you're devoid of any respect for tradition and culture.

Have your google home light the fireplace after dinner if you want to be trendy, but there's nothing to be fixed about a roasted turkey on real plates while wearing decent clothes.

Have smoked a turkey on the egg the last 4-5 years. Brine for 24 hours before putting on and it’s great. Add a ham and all the sides and it’s comfort food heaven.

Standing outside in flannel lined jeans, watching the leaves fall, the smell of a bird boiling in peanut oil, fresh drink in my hand, leaving the rest of the family inside and away from me... that’s what Thanksgiving is all about imo

[thumb2]

I mean, my Thanksgiving is out back in a Pole Barn/Hunting Lodge w/ concrete floors and a Wood Stove. (Black tie Optional)

Clearly, if you don't sit around the drawing room drinking vintage wine/spirits in your Sunday best before enjoying your grand holiday meal on the finest China ----> your family is trash.

MF'ers hating on Turkey and Thanksgiving are the exact ones that can't wait for family to leave to hit the Mall to shop, or go see a movie at the local theater. Too cool for Thanksgiving, LOL, and we wonder why this country is in the shape it is in.

I get why Coach Cal loves playing in the made-for-tv games, but it really hurts the overall product, imo. When those games work, they work in spectacular fashion -- the Vegas showdown with UNC is a prime example. But traveling to Las Vegas to play Utah, for example, is just stupid. You're robbing fans and viewers of what truly makes college basketball great -- the rabid student section, the home crowd, the longtime local fans, the smaller arenas, and more focus on the game than the commercialization. Quit being such a puss and bring back the home-and-away matchups against marquee opponents. I'm not afraid to see the Cats step into the lion's den, and am happy for our fans when they step into ours.

Rant.

Not once in my entire life have I looked at someone on Thanksgiving wearing jeans and thought to myself...”What a f*cking ******* that guy is. Completely disrespecting Thanksgiving.”

That’s just a truly bizarre mindset. I can understand if people are wearing inappropriate **** like wife beaters and pajamas, but jeans? Jesus Christ. You guys act like you grew up at Downton Abbey.

Yeah, we always been a lowly paper plate/Dixie cup/jeans family. Same with WS's family. Hard pass on a stuffy formal family gathering.

Two absolute 100% locks about richie's Thanksgiving festivities.....

#1 = they have a large, formal, sitdown meal. Unlike the rest of us, who just wander around our parents house and plop down at the first plastic folding chair we can stake our claim to, theirs is organized, and takes place at an exact time.

#2 = by the end of the night, the entire party if piss drunk, rendering the formalization of #1 completely moot, and ironic.

I know you, rich.
