—Checking in, it’s been a minute… occasionally lurk but my downtime has significantly dried up and haven’t been able to keep up like I used to.

—little man is running, climbing on everything, trying to figure out the most dangerous way of doing everything possible. It’s a blast. Having more fun being a dad than I ever dreamed. He’s showing the first signs of defiance so I’m sure I’m going to regret every positive thing I’ve ever said here in a few months.

—two job switches in the past year. Both moves for the better, mainly to get out before inevitable implosions happened… but healthcare is a cutthroat business right now more than ever. Enjoying my current gig though.

—not meant to be political in any way at all… but since the Supreme Court decision my wife’s job in womens health has become significantly more complicated. She doesn’t/didn’t even do anything remotely controversial but now has orders refused, treatments rejected by midlevels left and right largely out of fear of being criminalized, tons of decisions second guessed by people without the knowledge or qualifications to do so. It’s not remotely rational but it sure sucks. Her malpractice insurance which was already mind-bogglingly expensive is going up significantly since she now has to pick up criminal defense coverage. She’s fantastic at her job but the burnout is accelerating exponentially.

—after hardly watching any tv for ages, currently plowing through stranger things. Very meh… mainly just enjoy the 80s nostalgia, otherwise find it extremely overrated.

—is there a single example in existence of a girl looking better after lip injections? Tons of coworkers and friends doing it. It’s never subtle. It never makes them look better. I don’t get it.

—when the first Woodstock ‘99 doc came out about a year ago I went down the rabbit hole of watching several of those concerts on YouTube. Just awful, **** music… but the limp bizkit set in particular is like a time capsule consisting of chaos and unintentional hilarity.

—debating if I should put the money into getting my old ‘96 4Runner up and running again before selling (needs new starter, tires) or if I should just let it go for cheap and let someone else deal with the hassle. Any takers?

—completely burned out on the bourbon game lately

—toro timemaster ftw. Bought after SAE’s positive review on Gyero a while back, sucker does a fantastic job and cut my mowing time almost in half.

—back to lurking bimonthly, gonna miss the first tailgate while I’m duplicating Bernie’s travel plans but I grabbed some season tix this year and hope to familiarize the little guy with some good music and healthy debauchery

-Just got back from Atlantic City this week for the National. It’s a true **** hole. Did sell a ton of sports cards and purchased a six figure Michael Jordan.

-Signed Square yesterday. Good kid who just deserves it. Also, will announce the same agreement with Tayvion on Monday or Tuesday but it’s signed.

-Get to meet Derek Jeter on September 10th at a Topps event in NY. Only 40 people go so that should be cool.

-We have four extra FREE FB tickets for every home game in section 228 Row 6 if anybody wants to take the kids to the game.

-While in Jersey I got a call my sons had been in an accident on the interstate. They let me know both had walked away. The car is demolished. That’s the most fear I’ve had in a while as other parents can understand.

-Can’t wait for football. Like the rest of you. The hype is warranted.

brady, I’d be interested in the NIU game depending on my daughters soccer schedule. Kids are 3 and 5 so I doubt they’re ready for a big game.

The “2 x 20lb Value Size” packages of Kingsford are now “2 x 18lb Value Size,” yet the price remains the same.

This is an outrage - I may write someone a letter.

If you copy anything, it should be taking the ferry from Salerno to Amalfi or Positano. The ride over was spectacular.

Sit on the right there and the left back. Best views.

I texted my buddy Chad earlier to ask this question, but he must have meblocked because he never responded...

I've got a friend from out of town that will be in Cinci this weekend and they asked me for local dining recommendations. I know Ruby's and Skyline, but figured the GYERO brain trust might have two or three better ideas I could pass along.

Texas 6A High School football randoms:

- 350 kids in grade 9-12
- 3 Freshman teams
- 2 Junior Varsity teams
- 1 Varsity team

There are about 50-75 kids that played in 8th grade that didn't come out for Freshman ball. The weeding out begins early. But, if you love football there is always going to be a team you can play on and receive some playing time. Some seniors play JV.

^No ****. Some schools might not have those numbers but they definitely have 3 Frosh and 2 JV teams based on the schedule I've seen. That's for the DFW area and I imagine it's similar throughout the state.

350 kids is insane despite Texas being a football state.

Baseball is worse. They only have 2 Frosh teams and will have about 200 kids trying out.

If NKY is an option, highly recommend Walt’s Hitching Post in Fort Wright.

Back to lurking…

- 95 days sober. Walking/Running 50 miles a week. Down 26lbs. Best I’ve felt felt in way too long

- Ran the “Fancy Farm 1 Mile Classic” this evening. Didn’t realize until after I had registered that it is basically a kids race. Oh well, I’d paid my 15 bucks and got a t-shirt so I was running the damn thing.

- Came in just under 9 minutes. Considering 3 months ago I was a 48 year old drunk, and the last 1/2 mile was uphill, that isn’t too bad. Goal is a 5k by October.

- Every year I try to tamp down my expectations for the round ball cats but I’ll be damned if I’m not looking forward to seeing them next week. The parts are there if John will let them play.

- Buddy of mine in FL has season tix, he can’t make it to every game so going to try to make a few FB home games this year on his dime. May even try to go to the Ole Miss game, want to see what a game there is like.

Friday 5:
Tom Petty: Angel’s Gate
Grateful Dead: Sugaree
Jimmy Buffett: West Nashville Ballroom Gown
Willie Nelson: Last Thing I Needed
Cars: Drive

- Knew this day would happen eventually but I’ll be damned if I’m not in bed before 10pm every night and up at 5:30. Seems to be a much better schedule than bed at 12:30 and up around 9-9:30.

Shewboy, this town of Columbia is wild. Moving from KW to here (which I’d never been to) is obviously something to behold. No bars, 4 sit down restaurants two of which are Mexican and one Chinese, most everything closes at 9 even on weekends. Have a Walmart so that’s one thing the Keys didn’t have, I guess 🤷🏼‍♂️.

I REALLY don’t like the town as there is understandably no one my age that is my age and mildly attractive, nor anything to do, not even a daggone theater. Looks like it’s me and the dog with our nose to the grindstone for the next 9 months.

I am happy to be home but still won’t see the folks much as we work every day for the most part which can be a blessing because where I live is an abomination and I don’t want any to go home. Who would’ve ever thought NO ONE but one guy will rent to someone with a pet in rural Kentucky? One gal I work with is driving from bowling green every day because she couldn’t find anything either. At first I was like you’re crazy, now I’m think the 2 hours of driving a day would be just fine not to live here.

Good news is I LOVE the job so far and working with these kids is great. It’s cool to have kids in their college years looking up to you and actually listening to you as opposed to the other athletic trainers, 2 gals and the male head trainer who are a combined #750 at best. Why would college athletes take your word on health and fitness if you obviously don’t give a **** about your own? Like a doctor that smokes or something.

LWC is ranked #4 and we play Georgetown #16 to close out the season, folks coming down for that one. Hoping these boys win your guy over here a nice little natty ring like they did in 2020.

Best part is I have the keys to get in anywhere and unfettered access to the main gym, a private powerlifting gym, cold tubs in my office building, cupping tools, compression leggings, etc. the works really. I’ll be staying after work to play with all these things regularly.

9 months until I move to somewhere, anywhere more civilized. The experience and resume builder will be worth it though.

Trippin balls?

- My old man just had his annual dump truck load of cow **** delivered to the lake house. He’s tarping it up this weekend. Will have plenty of quality magic mushrooms in a couple weeks. Just in time for football szn.

- Oldest boy started tackle football this week for the first time. He’s in the 90th percentile for both height and weight and while a sweet boy, is vicious. Already named left tackle and nose guard. Can’t wait.

- I’ve always been a polite person and I do say “yes sir” and “yes ma’am” as a matter of course without thinking about it in appropriate situations. I am an Eagle Scout, after all. Today I said “yes sir” to what I thought was a fella as I was picking up a sandwich from a window. But I got chastised for being a bigot because he was actually a she. I just looked at him, er her, and drove on. She definitely looked like a he. Was weird and disconcerting. I guess we don’t even know who is a man or a woman anymore, and can no longer utilize traditional salutations upon greeting another human being?

- Along those same lines, I haven’t paid much attention to the monkeypox, but apparently only the gays get it and they get it from the butt sex? Maybe if they had sex with females instead they wouldn’t get the monkey pox? Who knows!

- My local beer store had all the Oktoberfest and pumpkin beers out today. That’s revolting. I was actually thinking of giving in and just deeming august to be autumn so that I could quit being depressed. But then I walked outside and the air felt like Satan’s ballsack and I realized there was no playing that game - it’s not fall, and no one should be drinking those beers yet.

- Football practice scheduled from 7-8:30 for both of the weeknight games next week. Fortunately my son practices across the street from an agreeable bar (Midway), so let’s just say dad is really, really looking forward to football practice next week.

- Tomorrow I have the exquisitely rare, completely free Saturday. The possibilities are endless. I am going to continue to get intoxicated and make some plans.

- They still make those rabbit vibrators, and yes you should buy one for your wife. Trust me, it pays off. Just set aside a portion of your income for D cell batteries.

- Lawman, women or a shallow grave, same old blues, just a different day.

It’s probably an hour from BG to Columbia if you get on the right side. Check out Glasgow there may be a few more things for rent there. If you’re really desperate look at breeding and Burkesville
