Well that’s good to know as it popped up and I didn’t really trust the site, but the idea was worth the risk.

- July 4th is most likely my favorite holiday. It’s hot, “most” stay around the house for cookouts and drinking, then shoot off some fireworks and watch the kids have a ball all damn day then struggle to make it to midnight. It doesn’t get much better than that to me.

Hosted about 30 for swimming and food all day long and another 20 or so strolled over from the neighborhood for fireworks.

- Still looking for some motivation with the dog days upon us, so…………

- Poor Kevin Durant man. The guy seemingly is being ridiculed at every turn, as he should be, for his recent turncoat. Taking to twitter to defend himself multiple times this weekend surely helped.

- I don’t know what Mitch’s issues are, but it doesn’t seem to hurt Stoops and Co. The guy just gets it done over and over.

- Nice to see a guy I’ve met partner up with a bourbon “goddess” like Jackie Zykan. Neeley Farms is a solid producer of bourbon and their new brand should do really well. They are tight on space up there in Sparta, but the exposure that’s coming I’d assume an expansion will be in play.

- Left over brisket sandwich for lunch. Reheat at 250 for a few minutes and it’s as good as the day we sliced it.

The Fourth is eaaaaaaasssssilllllly the best holiday for middle age men. Generally minimal travel requirements and no pressure to invite pain in the *** in-laws or extended family. Heavy drinking is expected and encouraged. You get to light things on fire, grill hunks of dead animals, and blow things up. It usually involves being around some body of water.

The. Works.

Plus the entire schebang is a celebration of telling a bunch of limey royal inbreds to go f*** themselves and winning. There is literally nothing that isn't awesome about the 4th if you're a red-blooded American male.

Old Forester is cranking out hitters under Jackie.

also, a good way to reheat brisket is in a ziplock and placed in a water bath

Besides New Years Eve, July 4 is the worst holiday.

- Way too hot.

- Introduction into the worst part of the year- the dog days of summer.

- Sports mostly suck.

- Obnoxious rednecks booming fireworks all GD weekend including into the early morning hours of a work night when respectable people have to wake up in 5-6 hours.

I mean it’s still a nice three-day weekend but Memorial Day and Labor Day are far-and-away better summer holidays.

Get a pool and the entire holiday changes. Do agree about the morons who do 5-6 days worth of fireworks.

TBH the booms are fine. The whistling ******** or whatever they're called can go straight to hell.

- My July 4th was brought to you by: Jose Cuervo, Old El Paso, Chuy’s chips, and my nearly 70 year old back yard neighbor and his ~$3,500 cakes of fireworks.

My wife decided to do a taco tray and I didn’t have to do nothin’ but chop a few onions. I was more than cool with that.

- Last week’s Freedom Tour to Lexington without kids ended in near disaster. A rundown:

1. My wife and I arrived at 7:00 or so on a Tuesday. Apparently that’s a really happening time for Carson’s. 90 minute wait on a Tuesday night? False. Ended up at Agave and Rye. It was decent.

2. My best friend is a lawyer and was in town for some kind of lawyer thing (lethal weapon training?) He went to the Legends game with a fraternity Bro of ours that just recently moved back to Lex. He’s a divorcee and is going through some paces right now. My buddy is also friends with a Survivor winner. So he was out with him as well. The Legends game got boring and so they decided it would be best if they met up with a 40-something married couple at Agave and Rye. Things got hazy after that.

3. The next day my wife and I went to Ashford Stud. This was easily the highlight of the trip. Within the first 3 minutes of the tour, out walks American Pharoah, followed by Justify. We then walked into their barn and got to hang out with them in their stalls. Pharoah is just a laid back, cool animal. He’s basically a pet. Justify is like a dumb jock. We also saw Maximum Security. He’s laid back like Pharoah. His human connections gave him a bad rep.

- In a different barn we saw Uncle Mo, Fusaichi Pegasus, Classic Empire (he’s a quirky, funny horse. Weirdo), Munnings, Cupid, Practical Joke, Mo Town among others. The tour guide went into detail about some of the horses’ “breeding habits.”

American Pharoah is a sweetheart. He likes to cuddle and nuzzle before he bangs. Justify is just straight up wham, bam, thank you ma’am. Uncle Mo is like that as well. Classic Empire is all about what he’s in to at the time. He may take to it quick, need an extra fluffer, or just straight up refuse to breed a certain mare. Not his type. The guide said this is very rare among stallions. I thought this was gross info at first but then started thinking how some of these horses remind me of my buddies’ dating habits and it made me laugh.

4. That evening we went to Tony’s. When I say we, I mean my best buddy, my frat buddy, Survivor guy, my wife, and me. This was a poor decision. We all had fun the night before, but apparently my wife wasn’t down to be the only lady in the crew for a second night in a row. She left early and then I went out with just the guys. I made a rookie mistake and followed that up with a heady, veteran move. If she’s already pissed, might as well go all in. I had to follow that up with flowers and another nice dinner (which I had to talk her into going to) to make up for it. It’s all good now!

My Tony’s experience wasn’t as good as Ruby’s in my opinion. I’ll leave it at that since this post is already too long. It was fine, but I was expecting more.

As evidenced by our 54th ranked recruiting class so far? I think it is fairly clear that Stoops has done a great job, but by early indications this recruiting cycle it seems as if Mitch has handcuffed football.

Where did we finish last year? Top 15?

I don’t follow it that close anymore, but it seems awful early to be ranked too high yet when the season offers visits etc and hype.

-As everything eventually does, I'm fairly certain the "Mitch" topic has swung too far. From my understanding, and it's from the horse's mouth, it's not UK not allowing it, but taking way too long to approve the deals. They'll get it all squared away. Still think Mitch is passing his time.

-Great weekend with some of the crew in Vegas. Awesome to be out there mask free and careless.

*Hit up Superfrico, new spot, really cool setup with a few of the talent from the variety show Opium popping in throughout dinner to perform a short skit. Tableside mozzarella was the hit of the weekend. They also have a cool little ski lodge bar that I'll certainly revisit.
*SW remains at the top of my steakhouse rankings.
*Somehow flew through CLT and ORD with only a 15 minute delay the entire time.
*Cosmo running a bit ragged, IMO. They need some updates for that price tag.
*Pedialyte/Gatorade product is a nice addition to the arsenal.

-Back in time to take little man up to the park for the IHCC fireworks. Kids running wild, warm summer night, tunes, crispy boys. I know MLK and President's Day have their benefits but that was pretty nice.

-Zykan move seems a little silly to me but it's been obviously coming for a time. Hell, I had to check a few times to make sure she even worked there. Seems a bit flighty to me but no doubt she took OF to a new level. Hopefully her new thing takes off, but as an OF honk, I'm not really excited about her moving on.

-Tonight I'll be asleep before the sun goes down. Ts.

- low key weekend, wife’s birthday Saturday and she wanted to do absolutely nothing all day FTW

- Golf Sunday… trying to play a bunch of courses I’ve never played instead of my club every time. The downside is public courses, unless you’re first one out make the experience miserable. It took us 2 hours and 15 minutes to play the first GD 7 holes. Decided to just pass everyone and skip 8/9 until we found a gap. Played holes 11 through 18 in an hour 15 minutes then finished the final 3 ‘skipped’ holes in 30 minutes. So 11 holes in 1:45 vs the first 7 holes in 2:15. Even when I was a 20+ handicap I made sure I wasn’t slow. Slow golf is absolutely miserable

- this is a big inflection point for UK Football. Mitch either encourages NIL in all facets or he plays the ‘I just don’t want to know’ plausible deniability role. It’s one or the other and no in-between. Lose Stoops and his legacy will be very tainted. I hope his self preservation kicks in harder than his moral high horse…. This isn’t brain surgery, lives aren’t at stake, it’s a game. Adapt and profit or get out of the way

- it’s no secret I’m critical of Matt… but he’s spot on about this and he only needs to get louder

- started ‘The Terminal list’ with Chris Pratt, good so far, they do a good job of making you wonder if he’s right or if he’s suffering from mental illness/PTSD

- really enjoyed the final part of Stranger Things season, well done, music on point too. Crazy how popular that ‘running up that hill’ song is now, just from it being part of a show

- I exclusively wear those tennis shoes/dress shoes hybrids (Cole Haan ZeroGrands FTW)now. I always wondered why nobody made shoes that felt like sneakers but could pass in true board room too. Seemed like a no-brainer then, as it seems to be now

- I have daily aches on my right shoulder and lower back. Should probably get em checked but I’m stubborn and have just accepted this to be a part of being middle aged, sad

I mean, I choose to buy aged bourbon, only to LITERALLY PISS IT OUT LATER.

And just let me tell you about greens fees!!

Ffs, I think it's OK for people to complain that gas prices are astronomically high -- and that the economy is in a self inflicted toilet right now.

Even the pyrotechnic 'necks.
