So I logged onto the the KSR Drag Brunch thread (my mistake) and was not surprised to see the usual suspects of old, angry grandpas who hate me saying that it is a travesty being "shoved down their throats." It went to a level that was probably a little bigger than I would have assumed (including that this was my way of "coming out of the closet", I was no longer a Christian and my mother was now ashamed of me) but for the most part it was people that couldn't understand a simple business premise that this will fill a bar at a time (Sunday at noon in May) that it would otherwise be empty.

I was however amused that the most outrageous comments on the thread didn't come from an old man sitting in his house mad that the world is changing and taking orders from the latest episode of Tucker Carlson, but from our own Wayne Dougan. After making sure we all knew that he wasn't gay and that he had all of the old guy tendencies that they share, Wayne went on to say that drag shows (presumably even ours) are ways to "groom" kids (I had never heard this term until a year ago so I assume this is the conservative talk show phrase of the month) and that if you are on the left you are "sick" and a "groomer."

I just thought it was impressive that in a post that literally brought out the worst of the message board crowd, Wayne found a way to be the worst of all. There has never been a person on Earth that I have seen who is more different in person than on a message board crowd. I sometimes tell our mutual friend about his posts and he even goes "I can't believe he says that."

I can't even be mad. I just have never seen anything more bizarre. With that said, you lost you bet that the bar would close by this point so If you want me to save a seat for you at the Brunch, I can probably pull it off.

I took a Wynn gummy, so I'm imagining Mags typing that post while dressed like a drag queen in To Wong Foo.

Edit: I watched the trailer for that movie on youtube and thought that Wesley Snipes' character in that movie was named Noxema Jones, instead of the correct "Noxeema Jackson", so now I will always refer to Matt Jones in my mind as "Matt 'Noxeema' Jones" and this makes me deliriously happy.

I was legitimately taken aback by the posts and didn’t realize a drag brunch was even something people raised an eyebrow at. They’ve been a thing for more than a good decade, and one of the ten we have up here in our city in central Ohio are sold out a month in advance. Then again me not expecting that reaction was incredibly dumb in retrospect. Also there’s no way Wayne is serious in half his posts, I thought he was just messing around and trolling.

Wayne may or may not be trolling but anybody that was/is against the Florida bill where parents have a bigger say over teachers in regards to sexuality with 5-8 years olds is a likely groomer.

You missed the sarcasm, Jones! And I will always take the contrarian path on this board. That won’t stop.

Which has nothing to do whatsoever with our Drag Lunch. I stay out of culture war issues because the anger/outrage is so much greater than the importance of the issue

If that was genuinely sarcasm Wayne (and I am suspect) then you were fully committed in your multiple posts and it sure seemed like your regular persona. But I will take your word for it

The behind the scenes basketball drama of the last two weeks has been crazy. I think things could be better off in the end but I wish I could write the book on it

What’s stopping you from writing said book? Personally I would enjoy reading it.

Been a fan of Ja since his time at Murray, but this series doesn’t look good for Memphis.

Edward’s is the best player on the court, and Towns is superior to Adams defensive ability.

Still though, it is legit amazing that most of Memphis talents were gotten from the draft except Kyle Anderson and Grizzly Adams.

The best way to cook ribs is to remove that teenie-tiny pice of THIN, translucent SKIN membrane before you throw it on the smoker. It’s just a very thin, extremely THIIIIIIINNNNN layer of SKIN that you just pull right off the rack. It makes for delicious enjoyment.

Keeneland sucked a fat D. Missed a superfecta by a nose and the wind chill and sleet meant I wasn’t staying for more than a couple races.

I’m still not 100% but I remember gawking at some big football recruit at Ruby’s Friday night while Stoops was surrounded by a table of whores while he ate with his dad/whoever. His dad was eating some sort of steak salad or something and looked like he hadn’t eaten in about 40 days and if he didn’t finish in under a minute it would get taken away. It was pretty late in the night and a lucid thought popped in my mind of how god awful a job being a high major coach would be and how much stupid **** you’d have to deal with.

I can’t hang anymore. Just can’t do it. I’ll be out of it all week.

I had a blast. You should have finished the gallon of water I gave you in the morning. Hydration...that is all it is. Simple Science.
