Ian Eagle calling our games with the lovely Jamie Erdahl, good stuff.
Bliss. Would have loved Jim Sparnarkel, as well, but Ian Eagle will be a delight after Jimmy Dykes.

* wcc, one could argue that Herro had to be the focal point of that team because Keldon Johnson was not the star that he was billed to be. Herro played a lot of point down the stretch that year because of Bum *** Hagans, too.

Herro losing his shot in March scares me for all freshmen guards that Calipari plays for huge minutes -- a la TyTy Washington.

* I'll tell you what no one ever says -- 'Let's get Canadian food tonight!'

- Andrew Schulz

* Chicago is amazing and makes Kentucky politics look downright virtuous. Kim Foxx, the city prosecutor who originally dropped the charges against Ol' Jussie, just penned an editorial for the Chicago Sun-Times claiming his conviction was mob justice. [laughing]

NCAA feeling the pressure? On top of this, they also only allotted 100 tickets to each school and are keeping the losing school's ticket to sell on their secondary market site. Good time for the P5 to put this sucker out of it's misery?

- If his image rehab tour was complete (and I'm not even sure it has ever started)....Gregg Marshall would be the absolute slam-dunk at South Carolina. Kinda expected him to be working on reentering the loop by now, but still nothing. Guarantee you'll see some media pushing for Dawn Staley to slide over and take the men's job. Gamecocks pulled the plug on Martin just as he was presumably about to land the top-ranked kid in the 2023 class. Guess they thought that'd just be prolonging the inevitable.

- Hey Reds fans, look on the bright side...at least you aren't changing your team name to the laughingstock of the baseball world. We got rid of most of our best players AND picked the dumbest replacement name imaginable.

- Rothstein's schtick is at its most insufferable when he nicknames the brackets. REGION OF BRANDING. Get out.

- Snickers, Reese's, Heath (since Take 5 wasn't an option)

- The NCAA has lost a lot of good people over the past few years to jobs with schools, media, and other entities. It's a flailing organization to begin with, but it hasn't been helped by its brain drain.

- Tried to watch an episode of "Ozark" last night but couldn't focus b/c of hoops. Flipped over to ESPN's "Tournament Bracket Marathon", where Seth Greenberg, LaPhonso Ellis, and two women were doing a bracket of best New Orleans foods or something ridiculous like that. It's CBS Sports Network for the duration of the tournament for ol' KL.

- Happy Westwood One Week, everybody.

I don’t like all the guys on cbs sports network but their content is usually solid and sticks to the game. I have no idea what espn is doing anymore. Could not imagine them ever getting the broadcast rights.

South Carolina should have just stuck with Frank Martin. He's a decent coach. They are a program that is occasionally decent whenever they've got a BJ McKie, Devan Downey, or Renaldo Balkman but is not going to be great year-in and year-out.

They'll probably just hire whichever mid-major coach makes it to the second weekend and get results worse than they would get from Frank Martin in the next five years.

* Lori Lightfoot is a national treasure. The Tim Dillon rant on her yelp review is one for the ages. I won't link it here because it is absolutely NSFW but it is easy to find on Youtube.

* To be fair to Chad, Herro is a reaaaaaaalllllllllly irritating white basketball player. He's half Rex and half J-Roc, with ENG's tattoo artist. If he didn't go to UK, I would find Herro hilariously cringe-worthy.

Have on the SEC Network at work and they had a story about the 78 CATS. Saw Givens banking one off the top side of the backboard and James Lee finishing off Duke with a dunk. Chills this am.

I'm on the 3rd page(Thursday schedule) and they have UK in Buffalo. Think they smoked some dope before putting that out.

- St. Peter's has a good 3 point defense. Little do they know that UK is dead last in the field for % of 3 attempts.
I DMed him about this (it’s fixed now). Minor mistake when you’re pulling that much info together in a couple days.

The best bracket analysis I've seen/heard is Jeff Goodman(yeah, I know) working through the brackets with Sean and Archie Miller on Field of 68.

-Johnson and Herro both had really solid seasons for freshman. Basically, identical. I think Johnson took heat because he was supposed to be a dog and he tended to disappear a little. Basically, we thought we were getting a MKG style guy and that wasn't the case. The problem that season was Cal going all in on Hagans when, IMO, Quickley or Herro at the point would've served us better.

-Martin at USC is a tough one. His record speaks for itself. .589 winning % and .444% SEC winning %. Caught lightening in a bottle to get to the F4 but those numbers are definitely worth of moving on.

-If Knox had 50% of Shai's drive he'd be an All Star.

-All Dog team -> Shai, Ulis, MKG, Oscar, Liggins.

-Somehow idiots in NYC/Brooklyn have made Kyrie the good guy. That takes some real f*cking idiocy to do. Slow clap.

-CC Berger with a questionable drop yesterday. 😮 Better watch it, buddy.

-Meant to call Vern a dumbass for his Kanye/Genius take.

-Brits do away with travel masks. Cheers, mates.

There was a completely WIDE OPEN - like in warmups wide open - 3 pointer in that Auburn game in the first half I believe that Tyler Herro bricked that is etched in my brain. That and the corner 3 that was bricked by Willis in the UNC game. I don’t care one bit for either one of those two honkys. Will not remember them fondly at all.

- In Knox’s defense, was playing out of position all year.

- Johnson wasn’t some surefire stud. He was known as a guy who played hard and could score.

Kyrie is so hatable as a human being… but when that idiot savant is locked into a game, he’s a brilliant and elite offensive player…a joy to watch.

However, as a Nets fan, I wish we had Spencer Dinwiddie, Jarrett Allen and LaVert still on team.

He was projected lotto.

And considering his production in the NBA thus far, he probably should have been selected there.

But there’s a big difference between the truly elite freshmen and the good ones. I don’t know anyone who expected Johnson preseason to be an absolute star. His expectations were in line with Maxey.

Yes let’s **** all over two young budding NBA superstars from Kentucky.

It wasn’t their fault they look so much better in the NBA…

Stolen from r/collegebasketball

Baring a statistical anomaly, this leaves Kentucky, Kansas, Tennessee, and Villanova.

No team has ever won the National title after losing their 1st conference tourney game. Notable teams this year: #3 Baylor, #4 Auburn, #16 Illinois, #22 Texas.
.

Since 2001-02, no title team ranked worse than 39th offensively or 18th defensively from an efficiency standpoint. Teams that fit those standards this year: Gonzaga, Houston, Baylor, Illinois, Michigan, Colorado, USC, Texas Tech, Wisconsin, Alabama.
.

Since 2012, only one Final Four team has ranked outside the Top 40 in adjusted defensive efficiency. 50% of the teams were ranked in the top 10. Notable teams outside: Duke #44, Iowa #96, Purdue #102, UNC #64, Virginia Tech #55, Ohio St #131.
.

Since 1985, no top 2 seed and top 10 in the AP poll but was unranked to start the season has ever made the Final 4. Only 21% of the teams have made the Elite 8. (Arizona, Wisconsin, Texas Tech, Providence).
.

Teams favored by 5 points or more in first-round games since 1996 have won 85.4% of games.
.

Since 1997, only twice has it happened that all four No. 2 seeds advanced to the Sweet 16.
.

Since 1996, 91.67 percent of tournament winners have been a top-three seed.
.

In 14 of the last 19 years, a 1 seed has made it to the championship.
.

16 of the last 18 championship games have involved teams seeded 1 through 5.
.

50% of the teams that were in the Championship game won their conference tourney.
.

Only 10.53% of teams to play in the championship game since 2001 were conference tourney runners-up.
.

Since 2012, No. 5 seeds are 16-17 SU versus No. 12 seeds
.

23 of the last 36 Champions were a 1 seed, five were a 2 seed, and four were a 3 seed. No other seed has had more than 1.
.

Odds to make Final 4 by seed:
1- 40.9%
2- 20.1%
3- 12.5%
4- 9.0%
5- 4.9%
The rest are below 4%.
