-gas prices are the tip o' the iceberg. Shipping/delivery(already way up) costs gonna skyrocket. Food prices gonna jump even higher(we don't make fertilizer in the US anymore).

-also, petroleum products are ingredients in a lot of stuff. Awesome.

^pretty much everything you buy is gonna soar higher...was already very bad, Ukraine situation gonna make it historic.

-go cats.

I have a meeting on ESG strategy tomorrow in NYC. One of those “yay rah rah no oil is great” type things. I don’t think the people running it realize that sort of **** is about to get smacked in the face by reality.

-Always feel like I'm missing something when people go nuts about gas prices. An extra ten bucks to fill up isn't money I'm missing, and even then, $40-50 to drive everywhere I want to go is the best value in history. Time, convenience, comfort, fun, etc. for an entire week or more? Where else can you have that for that price? It costs more to see a movie.

What a dumbass.

-if by "good" you mean: demonstrative of a complete lack of economic knowledge as well as indicative of a stomach turning lack of empathy for working people...I agree, kudos.

That's me. Well-known enemy of the working class.

As a mega-rich teacher with about an hour commute each day, spending $40-50 a week to drive isn't breaking the bank. I don't even notice it.

I realize there are people across the country who *do* notice an extra fifteen bucks gone per week, but starting with gas prices of all things to empathize with their plight is so disingenuous it doesn't warrant discussion and I definitely have no interest in turning GYERO political.

Gonna recycle my “as long as service workers can get to work with my goods while I work from home unaffected to a great degree” takes from 2020.

-your point would be *somewhat* valid if everyone lived where they work...ima go ahead and tell my guys from Richmond/Harrodsburg/London/Mt Sterling etc I'm going to ask UK to start remodeling the hospital/classroom buildings closer to their house. Also maybe Toyota can open up "mini plants" everywhere.

-twas an awful take, it's ok it happens.

-also...gas prices are gonna effect you eventually, see my rudimentary explanation from earlier.

^also nothing disingenuous about it...other than Healthcare, energy costs...particularly petroleum as it effects literally *every* consumable...is *the* issue for the working/middle class.

I would argue the cost of gasoline today will not be as bad on the economy as it was back in 2008. We still produce a larger share of oil than we did back then, plus we’re not driving as much. Not saying this won’t hurt, but I believe what really accelerated the demise of the economy in 08 was oil prices nearing $150.

My point re: the working class is that whatever a dollar increase in gas prices does to their lives was *already happening* and is the product of a whole lot of things that belong in another thread.

If/when it keeps climbing, I'm sure it'll affect my life. But people have complained about gas prices for the majority of the time I've been old enough to drive and it always seemed like one of the least significant gripes to me. Just since I've been a homeowner I've seen bigger monthly increases in water, electricity, internet and TV than this gas hike.

So to me, $10 extra per week for the convenience and necessity of driving doesn't outrage me. And I definitely don't want to hear that that makes me out of touch sandwiched between everyone's rundown of the best ski resorts and whether they'll make the Bahamas AND London trip or just pick between the two.

Anyway, that's enough out of me today. Carry on.

- Wear it All. The. Time, PTI. I'm on my third wedding ring. Used to take it off regularly because like you said, it just felt weird. But losing one at the Taco Bell in Corydon and another to wherever my then-2-year-old put it led me to literally never taking off my third.

Also, congrats.

- Jonas Hayes as Tom Crean's replacement is the biggest no-brainer coaching hire in this offseason. Former player, tons of local support, can tap the ATL talent market, and has cut his teeth on the bench for a while.

- So assuming UL loses today tomorrow, if KP isn't announced at UL by this time next week, is it safe to assume that he either said no or wasn't the top candidate all along? I mean, surely those conversations have been held by now.

- Congrats to Bronco fans. Must be nice to suddenly have a quarterback who has proven he can win big games. That's okay, at least mine is good in commercials.

Normally I would agree with Gonzo and have never understood the almost psychotic monitoring of gas prices with a lot of people - and you know the type - the weirdo that will drive across town for a 10 cent difference and call bragging about it. Always one of those ridiculous things I rolled my eyes at. However currently if it goes up higher it’ll be the highest gas prices in the history of the United States and with all the other **** it’s just another excuse for companies to jack up the price of **** to an almost comical level. I’m also building a house right now and all these changes are making me want to rip my hair out. It’s just a really ****** time at the moment.

I’m far more concerned about the price of food than the price of gas. Not for me personally but for the folks that have to sometimes make the hard choices between keeping the lights on or feeding their kids.

Because I was that person once.

Food will increase with the higher fuel costs. Diesel is almost $5 a gallon on average. Food is next on the complaining list.

My dad tried to hire a girl to come in once a week after my grandmother died to clean up for grandad and he told him to go to hell. He’d clean his own house.
