Well with streaming and the ability for young kids to just listen to what they want and not be forced to listen to the radio and “classic” stations apparently they have no clue about any old music. Someone on here was saying kids weren’t even familiar with Dr Dre from the late 90s/2000s

as a drummer that's the first thing I pay attention to in a song/band. Look forward to the onslaught of posts from people who can't move all four appendages independently while keeping a beat to tell me where I'm wrong.

It's a good point you made. When I was younger I never really "heard" the music I guess and didn't think too much of it, but when you pay attention to the difference between world class professional musicians and say some newbie trash Indie Rock hipster band, it almost makes the latter unlistenable at times.

Steely Dan is my favorite band, and those dudes would spend hundreds of hours with world class musicians perfecting the song. It makes a difference in terms of how complex and clean the song is.

BB King/Eric Clapton radio has been on my Sonos a lot recently.
Saw Buddy Guy at the Ryman a couple of years ago and it was one of the most memorable concerts I've ever attended. He is flat out amazing regardless of age--he still brings it. He spent a lot of time talking about and playing the old Blues artists like King, Waters, Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker, etc. First hand stories of history. He's touring again and I highly recommend seeing the show. Seriously--just go Fing see him as he's the last of his kind and you may never have a chance to see real Blues history again. (Although Kingfish plays like the legends if you want to hear the next generation.) We seldom have a chance to see history of any kind, he's the real deal.

As Bonzo said--Watts will never amaze you with a zillion different drums or solos, but he was the backbone of that band for decades. The reverence other artists show him tells the story of his greatness.

Dropped my youngest off to college this past weekend, empty nester. Head out on Labor Day for a couple of years of travel without having a house or apartment to call home. Excited and nervous all at the same time.

Its time to Enjoy the Ride.

Peace.

- My kids are growing up with a superhuman reverence for Dolly Parton. They love her music, she’s been gifting them books in the mail for years, and they know she helped make a vaccine for COVID. She must seem like fairy godmother type in my daughters’ eyes.

- Of all the recruiting pitches from headhunters, “Relocate to a warmer city!” is the wrong tack at this point in time. The heat index was 108 this week, pal.

- We had four kids show up for baseball practice last night due to the great “heat scare.” My in-laws are in town and they can’t handle the heat, yet the can’t break the habit of just leaving the patio door open for extended periods of time and wasting the sweet, sweet AC. Brits, man.

There was a time I'd make fun of parents for not sending their kids out in that heat to ball practice, but it's not like when I was a kid. I grew up w/o AC in the house (save a large window unit for 2600 sf.

With the advent of universally available AC, people just don't have the resistance/tolerance to temps like this, that they did 40+ years ago.

If I was still coaching, I'd be terrified to hold practice in 95+ temps with high humidity, for fear a kid would stroke out, or worse, kick it. I don't need that kind of juju.

Waiving a case to the grand jury means waiving a preliminary hearing in district court which would have been where the Commonwealth presents evidence to prove probable cause for one or more felonies. PH's are routinely waived. Now, the Fayette County Grand Jury will determine where the case goes from here.

Late on the family names was on vacation. (hate the use of vacay,,, FN stupid)
Grand Dad - Archie / Ernest
Grand Mother - Lelia / Martha Cleta (step, Martha past before I was born)
Mom - Alice Faye
Dad - Doug
Bros- Terry / Bobby
Sister - Vickie
Uncles - Shelby, Bill, Johnny, Robert, Joe, Ronnie Joe, Don

Treat Tisdale like the rich, white frat boys, if he is a good student, he gets a slap on the wrist, harsh talking to. But walking around strapped is not a good look, you ain't hood, I know.

The pro move and reals know this, you can't buy 1 or 2 lotto tickets and have long term success. You MUST buy in a sequence of at least 5 of the same ticket. My wife will do this, 1 on this, 2 of that, etc. It seems to me doing that, you set someone up to buy the winner. Usually one in every 4.5 are winners. Do the math.
I will slap a $10 spot in the little "vending" machine on the way out of a store every once and a while, and buy 5 $2 tickets. I am not standing in line with the crackheads of lotto tickets and look like a bum blowing my SSI check.

Current Favs - Big Money Spectacular, Crossword, Monopoly.
Worst ever made - Goldfish

8 days in The Great Smokie Mountains is too much (Did not eat at the Pizza Hut).
Air went out the second night, they quickly moved us into another Condo, for my troubles, they comped us 2 nights dinner of our choice and a free night. THAT is FN customer service. Alamo Steakhouse is NOT good. But, the Goose & pineapple juice cocktails went down smooth, the 10 oz. Filet, very well cooked and quality meat, seasoning was "off". And out of Miller Lite, WTF runs out of Miller Lite ? Tab on the house for 6, $412.84. Ole girl did a great job, food was free, so I peeled her off 4 $20's and rolled out like a BOSS.

Smokie Mountain Brewery never disappoints, great pizza, even had a live "band", played a great variety of older country, Shenandoah, ETC, Keiff Whitley, George Strait, Joe Diffe, Mark Chestnut, you name it.

Anyone who says they love 100+ (or even 95 ) heat indexes is either lying, or a true psychopath.

As far as I know, only UKO (latter) & Anth (former) fit that mold in GYERO.
- I find the “BH* Heat Index” adds the equivalent of 12 degrees of discomfort since sweat just drips off the dome (w/o a hat). *Bald Head.

- It wasn’t exactly a death March for the ironmen that showed up. Practice wasn’t until 6:15. It was in the low 90’s by then, and almost entirely in the shade. It was just one lap around the bases, playing catch, and some hitting. I think most parents are just “over it” since school started and it’s the last week of the season.

-Not a huge fan of the Stones but I do like a lot of their songs. I never went out and bought one of their albums tho. Probably my favorite song of theirs is Ruby Tuesday.

-Recently watched Val on Prime. It was actually rather touching and I felt really bad for the dude even with all of his success. His son narrates for him and sounds very similar to his dad. The stuff he filmed during Top Gun and the Island of Dr. Moreau was very interesting especially his interaction with Brando. The dude was finally in a movie with his idol and it was a disaster. Man, Joanne Whalley was a babe in the 80s-90s. It didn’t go into his love life (other than her) I guess out of respect to the actresses he was with.

-They put in a roundabout near work. Since I’ve witnessed: a car barreling into it cutting off one already in the circle, two cars stopped trying to yield to each other, a person driving the wrong way around the circle and finally a car going straight up over the middle of it (wtf?). The fact such a simple and efficient exchange may as well be advanced calculus to some people is startling. Back to the Future II would never happen not because of technology but because people have a hard enough time driving on the ground and flying cars would explode the world.

-My two grandfathers were named Joseph and Elmer. Joseph was a World War II vet and literally one of the best people I’ve ever known. He deserves sainthood for taking my brother and I to opening day of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the movie. Elmer was the biggest Reds fan I knew and was a huge reason I was a Reds fan before I even knew what UK sports was. I get my name from their middle names first of which is Anthony a fine catholic name.

-Two really masterpiece movies that I don’t feel get talked about enough are Kingdom of Heaven (The Director’s Cut) and Master and Commander The Far Side of the World. The first may be the best director’s cut ever turning a middling crusades action movie into an epic. The latter is just a brilliant depiction of 19th century naval warfare with great performances by Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany.

-Five songs that when I first heard them I thought “This is the greatest song I’ve ever heard”

More than a Feeling - Boston
Spirit of Radio - Rush
Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen
Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles
Goodbye Stanger - Supertramp

-I really need a good football and basketball year. It seems we only get one or the other most years.

Is there a grand jury currently impaneled in Fayette County? I know with COVID it has been start and stop with that. Jessamine just sent notice that it is postponing new juror orientation.

So I guess we're going to rehash the time Mags was being a major *****, threw a halfassed swat at me, was covered up by friends, and is 14 years later still claiming he won a fight. Trust me, that wasn't a fight, buddy. Move on.
You know what you need to do and we are all here for it. Basically he’s begging for it now.

- Helluva set of randoms, Wiz. 🙌🏼

- I never used to be a casual mid-week drinker, until I started dating my wife. It became a bit of a tradition to crash up at her OTR apartment on Wednesdays and we’d make some Old Fashioneds or walk down the street to hit Liberty Bar & Bottle or grab a bite to eat. Now, I look forward to a couple Wednesday evening cocktails every week.

- By gawd, its late August and the Reds are in playoff contention. Hit a game with ABH last week, taking my dad next week and hitting up an afternoon Businessman’s Special with my work team in a few weeks.

- My thirst for college football in August can’t be overestimated. I’m like James Harden at a Houston strip club. It’s basically all I can think about.

- Call me a poser but these yoga companies make some damn comfortable clothing.

- I have a 200+ song, 13 hour Spotify mix I’m quite proud of called my “Home” playlist. Unlike other playlists which take into account others tastes and versatile settings, this one is for me only - the kind of music I want to listen to when I’m at home. It’s mostly a hearty mix of rock’n’roll (Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Kings of Leon, Stones, etc) with some authentic country (Willie, Waylon, Sturgill, Childers) and newer **** (The National, Vampire Weeknd), but I do allow myself some discretion and flexibility. This weekend I decided to add a handful of classics from The Weeknd, perhaps the only R&B on there besides Otis Redding and Stevie Wonder. That’s high praise but I feel the dude is that good. I think “Save Your Tears” belongs.

- Perhaps the greatest thing about dogs is how they just get better with age. My buddy is 5 years old now, and while always a top rate hound, he’s so obedient, chill and good with my baby and our cats, it makes me so proud. He’s a great boy.

********. That would basically ruin any outdoor sporting event & activity that didn't involve water, especially football. No spring blooming, no magical Fall.

Your yard would be dirt, along with everything else if it were 100/365.

It's legit cold for maybe 1 month a year. Perhaps move to a Desert. .

100 with humidity is too much. I don't want that everyday but I do prefer it to 38 and rain.

84/64 is the perfect temp split.
