Not taking up for Mitchell but honestly I can't imagine how hard it is to coach HS/College age girls in ANY sport. I've been around the UofL women's lacrosse team quite a bit and my god, it is a circus. There are countless feuds and cliques over dudes they drunkenly banged, clothes/personal items they borrow without asking, etc. Little things that guys wouldn't think twice about that cause giant team controversies. Two of their best players at one point weren't speaking to each other and yet somehow they are one of the best teams in the country.

Not saying Mitchell isn't the source of all this but girls are also f'n psycho too. Just saying it has to be tricky keeping such volatile creatures on the same page and it seems like he's done a poor job doing that.

My brother coaches girls and says it is a completely different world than coaching boys. **** like this:

Girl: "I can't wear white shorts today, coach."

Him: "Why not?"

Girl: "..."

Him: "Oh, god. Black it is!"

-Leave for Europe a week from today, shew. Really starting to get amped up, basically been planning this trip/saving points, with a few cancellations & roadblocks, for 5 solid years.

*First Class to London, staying at The May Fair Hotel 4 nights:

*Overnight Cruise from London to Amsterdam, staying at Intercontinental Amstel on a Canal for 2 nights:

Depart from Harwich Port at 11pm, Saves us a travel day, & was cheaper than an extra night in London. Seemed fun/different. Board, get settled in Cabin, Hit Casina, sleep, wake up in Amsterdam at 8am.

*Thalys Train w/ a midday stopover for a few hours in Brussels (which we will likely skip given the situation there), then onto Paris for 4 nights at Villa D'Estrees in St. Germaine/Latin Quarter.

*Coach, Xanax, Home

...any recs/tips/etc outside of the obvious touristy sites/things that we will be doing certainly welcomed.
[cheers]

I sort of feel like a proud parent. My little fella is growing up so fast...

* Feel free to skip the following if airplane porn is not your thing:

Speaking of First Class, I flew home from Asia last week via Doha and Abu Dhabi so I could experience both Qatar and Etihad's relatively new A380s. I'd flown in Etihad's First Class once before on the B787, but never before on the A380 "Apartment". Both were phenomenal. Qatar's onboard bar is the best I've ever seen.

Buddy of mine coached high school girls basketball for a few years. During the middle of one game a girl's bloody tampon fell out of the bottom of her shorts onto the court.

Game was delayed several minutes while the janitor cleaned it up.

I've found that ^ is essentially the essence of women's basketball. If women's basketball had a facebook profile picture, it'd be a candid shot of that scene.

If I could go back in time about 5-6 years, I'd be all over it. Honestly think my knowledge base is every bit as good as TPG, as there are several bloggers out there who know a ton more about miles/points than he does. That being said, he's done an outstanding job building his brand.

Yeah, I didn't see Doc's e-mail until like 6:30.

We'll run again this Sunday at 7:00 if you aren't taking a Gulfstream G6 to Macau for a long weekend or something.

I'll be there. Didn't get back from Murfreesboro in time to make last week.

I coached my daughter's 12U team this year. It wasn't unusual to have a player start doing the whip while lining up for an OOB play. Or the neh neh while at the free throw line. They also did the stanky leg during dead balls. Had one girl stop guarding her man during a crucial late-game possession so that she could run over and yell at her brother in the stands to stop looking at her phone.

And whether it was a bumped knee or hurt feelings, there were tears. Most practices and every game. OH MY LORD THERE WERE SO MANY TEARS.

I'll try to make it back Sunday. Trying to refocus on my health and well being. Eating better and working out more. However I did just consume a large caramel frappe from McDonald's

Here's why the Matthew Mitchell stuff is getting so much run....

1. It's the offseason.
2. There's no Bolden news this week, and very little other recruiting news now that the weekend is over.
3. Still not to the deadline for withdrawing from the draft.
4. Football is quiet.
5. The guy makes a cool mill a year, which is $$$ that could be used for all kinds of other, better things.
6. The guy is all over the place, publicity-wise, and it seeps into men's basketball/football(CWS concert, dancing at BBM, etc.), so the more of an idiot he makes himself, and the more of a dumpster fire he turns that program into, it's going to attract attention.

The fact that Dick "HOOPS" Weiss even tweeted about it means it's catching attention outside the state. Heck, Hoops usually tweets about things a good four weeks after they happen, so he's really on the ball here.

Matthew Mitchell was just trending nationally behind Carly Fiornia and ahead of #womancard on Twitter.

Good look!

Let's be honest, who is kind of surprised that Chief isn't a women's basketball coach?
Ummmm..I think you are confusing me with cricket. Nvm, read that as girls. I wish I would have got into coaching years ago but not women though.

Though I do enjoy watching my nieces soccer team and basketball team play. Her soccer team is playing for the #1 ranking nationally for Girls U12 this weekend and next.
