RU has an attendance and interest problem right now that GS can fix immediately. I do know that Greg Schiano can recruit and he can brings back even in what will be a rough year 1 and 2.

No other coach can do that.

Jones really is the only other option right now but keep dreaming you are getting anything other than a Lance Leopold or an Ivy League coach here...just because you say its true doesnt mean its going to happen..much like in 2013 and 2015 we saw what happened
a great hire, regardless of whether it's gs or not, fixes this. You may not see the up tick in season tix sales with gs that you think but you'd see an explosion with say Urban Meyer.

So is Steve making this SHI up or was he told by Hobbs camp what was talked about in the interview? Does anyone if it's true??

Hobbs must go!

I think Hobbs is very eager to build all facilities every time, the bigger, the be$$er. But, they have to be built by his gang. I think its his sole purpose. This is about getting contracts for the gang who brung him.

So here we are saying Florida State, Texas and Arizona State don't have indoor practice facilities? What are three things they all have in common?

1) None of them are in the Big Ten
2) All of them are in the perpetual land of summer
3) None of them have ever been in my kitchen

And FWIW if you listen to any talking head they say that FSU is actually not a desirable job because the facilities are so bad.

Mac Brown salary is $3.5MM. His resume is way better than GS's. What did he demand in terms of facility upgrades? Anyone know?

What was our recent facility upgrades, including the academic center?
For football. Our facilities upgrades, other than the weight room, locker room and practice field, have all been for our long-neglected Olympic sports.

What is that number that's been invested for the weightroom, locker room, and practice facility and Rodkin Center which will be for football players too. Anyone know? Just curious.

How in the world did you reach all these conclusions and fears with the two very reasonable requests that may have been made at the meeting? Just wow.
Not detailed enough to make sure the field wasn't plowed at half time while beating a much faster WVU team.

I'm not interested in toilet paper. That's intern stuff. We are in the B1G. We need a damn football coach.

Ha, ha. We would have won that game if we kept the field unplowed. The track meet ensued in the 2nd half with a cleared field.

Only if Gerber ask for 100mm facilities. Lesson learned says GS.
not sure what history you are looking at but we were 1 win away from a bowl game when bowl games meant something. He could recruit better than Greg imho and if the school had given him any support, kids wouldn't have failed out left and right. His team put points on the board like no other

But he didnt..besides Frank Burns he really is the only coach that matters in the past 50 years
now we know you haven't a clue.
I'd be willing to wager a full year salary that with the same teams on opposite sides of the ball, Graber would smoke GS. I'd also wager that Graber was a better recruiter and if had anything like what was given to Greg in terms of support, Graber would be our Paterno minus the affinity to let peds run amuck

Who did Graber sent to the NFL vs GS? I was there and he sucked.

"GDS"?

You need some new schtick.

I don't "loathe" Schiano. My concern is as others have stated - that for something close to $10MM/yr in salaries and, potentially, another $100MM in infrastructure commitments, we could do better. You saying "nobody will come here" isn't an appropriate counter-argument to that point.

It's really that simple.

Imagining that money is on the table for anyone, you really think Urban is going to come here, or someone of that caliber? I doubt it. This is difficult job no matter how much you are making.

Again, this.

To hear some talk about it, you'd think that the football team was getting changed in their cars and practicing in the same gravel parking lot where the cars are parked.

To summarize:

Brand new outdoor practice facility that is absolutely top-notch.

Brand new locker room overhaul that maybe doesn't have a water slide, but is still pretty fly (do the kids still say that?).

Brand new (under construction) academic support facility for athletics.

Yeah, the Bubble is a little dinged up. It's also due to be replaced, per the master plan. Meantime, it's still in the mix.

Absent any real specifics about this conversation, I'd have to ask of Greg, "What the f*ck is your problem?" Because as @Caliknight said, there are absolutely programs out there doing more with less.
You forgot to mention the new weight room.

Does anyone blame Greg?

The AD since Greg left has been a clusterfudge, to be generous. The football "program", worse.

Somehow RU took the golden goose that was the B1G invite and said "Hold my beer" and somehow managed to screw it up.

I trust Greg's gut on what it's going to take to fix the program. Not a law school dean, not the BOG or Barchi or academics, not someone who never did it before.

Again, ASU uses their bubble more than we ever will. Would imagine the rain sends FSU inside often as well but I’m not a big Florida rainfall guy. Texas also uses theirs more than we do.

That's actually the more concerning aspect to me.

My fear with Greg 2.0 is he is going to try the same plan he had as Greg 1.0. When he came to Rutgers 19 years ago, he needed to elevate what was essentially a D1AA program into a BCS program. That required a lot of foundational stuff, like academic support, S&C, and major capital improvements.

But that foundational stuff currently exists at Rutgers. Greg 2.0 doesn't need to rebuild it. Greg 2.0 needs to fix recruiting, the staff, and the playbook. Yes there are some additional capital improvements needed, as Hobbs indicated in his press conference after Ash's firing. But we have most of the necessary stuff in place, and we have plans for the rest (including replacing the Bubble with a new indoor facility)

If Greg 2.0 is coming in and making demands to replace our new locker room, S&C center, and all the other improvements in the Hale Center, and immediately construct a new indoor facility then Greg 2.0 is just looking to do what was needed 19 years ago, not what is needed today. That tells me he doesn't really know what is needed, or doesn't have a plan.

He knows how to sell that to his audience. Someone posted on here the observation about a month ago that Greg can't sell the same plan he did 20 years ago because it has already been accomplished. Well...

This was one of the things that I had established as an initial concern - I know you did, as well.

Put simply, the guy is going to walk in here like it's 2001. His way or the highway. But times have changed, circumstances have changed and "Herr Greg" isn't going to play in this landscape. Especially after yesterday's rather scathing nj.com editorial.
The current record looks like 2001.
The demands probably aren't the same because
Greg got most of his 2001 demands, so no need to worry about him asking for them again.

But Schiano knows what's needed now and he'd be foolish not to demand Rutgers give him what he needs to allow him to do his job properly .
If RU doesn't, I expect Greg to be smart enough to understand it would be best to decline what RU has to offer and wish Hobbs the best in his effort to make Rutgers a winner with half-assed fixes and a HC that will be fighting for wins with one hand tied behind his back.

If Rutgers wants someone who will make Rutgers a winner, they need to hire someone who demands to get the tools he needed to fix the problem with the FB program, not just accept the salary and hope for the best.

Rutgers needs to do what it takes in order to make RU FB a winner.
Seems like if Greg wants that, he's asking for too much [roll]
