dude, it does matter what i give or do not give, this school will either commit to competing or it will not, listen I went through two decades of hoops not committed to competing, its very easy to see and yes the program can have small successes but by and large its a losing battle...same would happen with football.
The Big 10 isnt the Big East or even the ACC where solid facilities can get you a winning program. Look at the schools winning in this league. RU will not be a Ohio State or Michigan but they can be a Wisconsin or Iowa, i can guarantee you that those places put a premium in their football programs facilities. If RU aspires to be an Indiana or Illinois in this league who can a a good season here or there..fine, just do not pretend.
There is no other coach that can come in here and demand facilities be upgrade besides Schiano. Thats why this is the perfect time. You really think Lance Leopold or Bob Surace is going to do this...because those are your other choices...even Butch Jones who I like as a 2nd candidate is going to use this job as a stopover for another job. He isnt interesting in Rutgers build.
Listen we get, you loathe Schiano despite him being the only successful coach. Its almost as if you have GDS because you have had some really crazy argument as of late
"GDS"?
You need some new schtick.
I don't "loathe" Schiano. My concern is as others have stated - that for something close to $10MM/yr in salaries and, potentially, another $100MM in infrastructure commitments, we could do better. You saying "nobody will come here" isn't an appropriate counter-argument to that point.
It's really that simple.
