I’ll be attending every home game if Riley is retained just for the ample leg room and $0.50 Runzas. Hell, the Runzas and hot dogs might even be free by the end of the game if there are enough of them still available and no one around to buy them.

Remember the 2001 Notre Dame game? I wonder how many fans in black and gold will find their way here this year?

NU admin incompetence gloriously continues on
How so? IF Frost doesn't want to come back to NU, we can't offer more money than Florida. He has to want the job and I can tell you from my friendships with other college coaches that most of them wouldn't touch NU with a ten foot pole if there is a similar offer with less money available.
Because you don't keep a coach because of who you "can" or "can not" get to replace him. If it isn't working, which it clearly isn't at this point, a change needs to be made. If it isn't, then someone in the admin needs to be held accountable for allowing this garbage to continue. It's really a simple as that. I want Frost, however, I'm very skeptical he comes here. Either way Riley needs to go. I'm sure Moos will find somebody, if it isn't Frost, that is more capable than this band of mediocre clowns to run the show. But keeping Riley after this season ends would scream incompetence.

Agreed. I am actually trying to think of coaches that would be worse and it is really hard to come up with names.

That dude at KU?

I highly doubt Frost is making any career decisions right now, in the middle of an undefeated season and with a new baby due any day now.

Plus, he knows several other good jobs are going to open, including his alma mater. Even if he wants the Florida job, he would be dumb to tell them he will take the job now, when he'd be able to get them in a bidding war later against Nebraska and other programs that open up at the end of the season.

Moos just said last week: "I didn't come here to go 6-6"

So I don't know how he could justify keeping Riley if he goes 5-7.

Well, 5-7 is not 6-6 so It might be justified.

Also, it's been like 45 seconds since someone pointed out that Bill Moos gave Paul Wulff a 4th year at Washington State.

Even though it doesn't apply here, I'd just like to point it out. Just because.

I once attended a New Jersey Devils hockey game for free with my wife and daughter because they gave away free tickets at the grocery store if you bought certain Hostess products.
We may see free Husker tickets if Riley is retained. You will get them at grocery stores if you buy Dorothy Lynch dressings. Lol

I took the family to a Cleveland Browns game last year on Christmas eve even though I'm not a Cleveland fan.

$14 a ticket third row up from the field. They beat the Chargers, only game they won in the last 2 seasons.

If Riley is retained, you'll see crap like that next year. Guaranteed.

Can someone tell me if @YouGotSwatted! is even a Husker fan? The shtuff coming out of his mouth, via his keyboard, is just ridiculous! With his logic, if Saban isnt our next coach Moos didnt do his job right!!!!!

SABAN OR BUST!!!

SABAN OR BUST!!!

SABAN OR BUST!!!

I’ve been very critical of the admin/AD. That’s it.

Exactly. What else would they tell recruits. Because even if you tell them that they don't know if Riley will be back, that would be front page news
You'd tell them that they should look at their other options. That's what Callahan did.

You assume, if SF turns us down, the AD/Admin is somehow responsible. IF SCOTT FROST DOESNT WANT TO COME HERE NO MATTER WHAT, NOTHING WILL CHANGE THAT!!! Get it through your skull!! I want frost here but i have complete confidence Moos will reach out to him, if it isnt meant to be it isnt meant to be. Do you expect him to go take SF at gunpoint??? Blackmail his family? What give you reason to believe that Anybody can get Frost here if Frost doesnt want to be here???

Would rather cut down the number of seats, get rid of the stupid benches and put in some nice chairs :p Maybe the recliners like they have in movie theaters now. Sigh....I can dream. It isn't like NU needs the money, they squander it anyway.

The quotes are out there, SF has said he wants to come home. That means there’s an inclination to consider NU if all things are right. If he does and says it me, not you, then fine. But if the admin/AD low balled Scott or his staff (which is the idiot stuff I think is more likely) then it’s on our admin/AD.

I'm guessing Moos learned from that mistake and doesn't want to repeat it here.

First of all, We will never know who we offered and got turned down by, it makes our "backup" HC look like the backup plan rather than "THE GUY"

Second, People change, goals change, and having a child changes lives - especially the first child. Scott is a Family Man now, he cannot unilaterally make decisions anymore.

The most recent quote of SF saying this is his #1 Goal, his Dream job etc is 5 years old. Did hiring MR sour that? who knows. Not every problem can be solved by throwing money at it.

If you throw enough money at a Doctor will he be able to fix a decapitated body?

The only sure thing we can speculate about is that only SF knows what his heart desires.

I would be absolutely shocked if SF doesnt come here and Moos admits that he offered frost and had to settle for a 2nd or 3rd or 4th or whatever pick... that would be demoralizing to who we end up with. Wont happen. Suck it up and get what you get and dont throw a fit!

I don't believe it was a mistake to keep Wulff for one more year. By doing so, he ended up getting Mike Leach.

It's very possible that if Moos didn't keep Wulff then he doesn't get Leach.

Does anyone expect that the coaches would sit the recruits down there on their visit and say:

"We have all been around this game long enough we know there is an EXTREMELY HIGH chance of us getting shown the door sometime in the next 3 weeks. But we are excited that you're here, let us show you around"

Mike Riley is getting fired. Period

I have not commented on this at all (not that anyone cares, including my wife who heard it all this weekend) but it could be that as a head coach, organizer, person and leader of the program that Mike is doing a great job. He probably needs to jettison some assistants and rebuild there and get a little more involved on a daily basis. I could see him given some options to make changes at OL, OC, and perhaps others and then be given a year to get things turned around. It is all speculation and I don't really like to do that. After this weekend I was sure it was the final nail but there "could" be options for Mike.

:D I could see Riley staying IF Frost in fact isn't interested. The Fire Mike group had better be ready for it. I guarantee you that there would be staff changes IF Riley stayed but who knows. IF we can't get Frost and we're being told no by the agents of all the hot names out there do you go for another unproven assistant OR do you make Riley hire some different coordinators and an O line coach? Getting the right guy to take this job has been proven to be very difficult lately yes?
The fact that you're giddy proves you do not care about the program, as long as husker fans you don't agree with are upset.
I agree Riley might stay, always a possibility regardless of frost.
Glad you're happy about the current state of the program.

Nebraska will have to offer Frost 6.84% more just to get him to even from an income stand point. No state income tax. So if both offered $6 million, he would bring home around $410k more per year in Florida than he would in Nebraska. FWIW

For those of you born yesterday, the administration isn't going to admit Riley is fired until five minutes into the press conference announcing he has been fired. The AD would be stupid to scare off verbally committed recruits without giving the new head coach at least a chance to salvage their commitment.

The only people who know less than the fans right now are the recruits.

Wow, if all this is true then we are finished, we're turning into Iowa/Minnesota.

Wrong, we can afford just as much or more. I can easily see NU paying $6.5/year. Will Florida match that plus the Mcelwain buyout of $12million +. The issue is local recruiting.
